SGT ANM FAQs
Ques. Is admission to ANM at SGT University done directly by the university, or through state counselling?
Ans. Admission to the ANM programme at SGT University is not done directly by the university at its own level. It is conducted exclusively through the centralised online counselling process managed by the Haryana Nurses and Nurse-Midwives Council (HN&NMC) / Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak. Any admission made by a private institute outside this prescribed procedure is considered null and void as per the Haryana Government notification. Students must register on nursing.online-counselling.co.in and participate in the counselling rounds to secure a seat.
Ques. What is the total fee for the ANM course at SGT University, and are there any hidden charges?
Ans. The tuition fee for the ANM programme is approximately Rs. 1,40,000 per year, totalling around Rs. 2,80,000 for the 2-year programme. Additionally, a one-time refundable caution money of Rs. 10,000 and a one-time non-refundable alumni association fee of Rs. 2,500 are charged, making the total approximately Rs. 2,92,500 (excluding hostel). Hostel is optional and costs between Rs. 1,40,000 to Rs. 2,00,000 per year depending on room type, inclusive of mess. Students are advised to confirm the latest fee structure directly from the university admissions office as fees may be revised.
Ques. Does SGT University's ANM programme have a hospital for clinical training, and how is the practical exposure?
Ans. Yes, SGT University has an 800+ bedded multi-speciality hospital on campus, which is one of the key advantages for ANM students. Clinical postings are conducted at this hospital as well as at affiliated community health centres and sub-centres. Additionally, the university's National Reference Simulation Centre (NRSC) - Asia's first referral simulation centre - provides hands-on training using high-fidelity manikins before students are posted in live clinical settings. This combination of simulation-based and real-patient clinical training is a significant differentiator for the ANM programme at SGT University.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after completing ANM from SGT University?
Ans. After completing the ANM diploma from SGT University, graduates can work as Auxiliary Nurse Midwives in government hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Sub-Centres, Community Health Centres (CHCs), and Anganwadi centres. They are also eligible to apply for government recruitment drives conducted by the Haryana Health Department, National Health Mission (NHM), and other state/central government bodies. ANM graduates can also pursue further studies such as GNM or B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) to advance their nursing career. Employment opportunities also exist in private hospitals, nursing homes, and NGOs working in community health.
Ques. Is there a minimum percentage required in Class 12 for ANM admission at SGT University through Haryana counselling?
Ans. For Haryana centralised ANM counselling, there is no specific minimum percentage prescribed in Class 12 beyond passing the examination with English as a subject. The merit list is prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in Class 12, and seat allotment is done strictly on merit. However, candidates with higher Class 12 percentages have a better chance of securing a seat in preferred institutes like SGT University, which has only 40 seats. Candidates from the SC/BC/OBC categories are eligible for relaxation in age and reservation of seats as per the Haryana Government's reservation policy.
Ques. Can male candidates apply for the ANM programme at SGT University?
Ans. The ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery) programme is specifically designed for female candidates as per the Indian Nursing Council (INC) guidelines. Male candidates are not eligible for the ANM course. Male candidates interested in a similar healthcare career can consider the MPHW (Male) - Multi-Purpose Health Worker (Male) programme, which is a parallel course for male candidates and is also offered through Haryana centralised counselling. SGT University offers GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) which is open to both male and female candidates.
