SGT BA LLB FAQs
Ques. Is CLAT mandatory for admission to B.A. LL.B. at SGT University, or can I get direct admission based on my Class 12 marks?
Ans. CLAT is not mandatory for admission to the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program at SGT University. The university follows a merit-based admission process where Class 12 marks are the primary criterion. Students who have appeared in CUET UG or LSAT India can also use those scores, primarily for scholarship determination. A Personal Interview (PI) is conducted as part of the selection process. This makes SGT University accessible to students who may not have qualified CLAT but have strong academic records.
Ques. The official website mentions Rs. 97,500 per semester, but I have seen different fee figures online. What is the actual total fee for the 5-year BA LLB program?
Ans. The official SGT University website clearly states the program fee as Rs. 97,500 per semester. Since the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) is a 10-semester (5-year) program, the total tuition fee works out to Rs. 9,75,000. Additionally, a one-time refundable caution fee of Rs. 10,000 and other fees of Rs. 2,500 are charged, making the total academic fee Rs. 9,87,500. Hostel fees are separate and optional. Some third-party sources may show slightly different figures due to older data or different fee components being included.
Ques. Are there any scholarships specifically for law students at SGT University, and how are they renewed each year?
Ans. SGT University offers merit-based scholarships on tuition fees for law students, just like other UG programs. Students scoring 90% or above in Class 12 get a 100% tuition fee waiver for the first year, 80-89.99% get 50%, and 70-79.99% get 25%. For renewal beyond the first year, a 25% scholarship can be extended if the student passes all subjects in the first attempt and maintains a 75% aggregate in semester examinations. There is no separate scholarship exclusively for law students; the same merit-based structure applies across UG programs (except medical courses).
Ques. Does SGT University's Faculty of Law have BCI approval, and does the degree have national recognition for practicing as an advocate?
Ans. Yes, SGT University's Faculty of Law is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI), which is the statutory body that regulates legal education in India. The B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree from SGT University is therefore a valid qualification for enrollment as an advocate with any State Bar Council in India. Graduates can appear for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) after enrollment and practice law across India. The university is also NAAC A+ accredited, adding to the credibility of the degree.
Ques. What is the difference between the B.A. LL.B. and BBA LL.B. programs at SGT University? Which one is better for corporate law?
Ans. Both B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA LL.B. (Hons.) are 5-year integrated programs at SGT University. The B.A. LL.B. combines humanities subjects (Political Science, Sociology, Economics, History) with law, making it ideal for students interested in litigation, judicial services, public policy, or academic law. The BBA LL.B. integrates business administration subjects with law, making it more suited for corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and in-house legal roles. If your goal is specifically corporate law or working with law firms handling business transactions, BBA LL.B. may be a better fit. However, B.A. LL.B. graduates also successfully enter corporate law with the right internships and specializations.
Ques. How is the placement support for B.A. LL.B. graduates from SGT University? Do law firms actually recruit from campus?
Ans. SGT University has a dedicated placement cell and Centre for Career Advancement that supports law students with internship opportunities at law firms, NGOs, courts, and corporate legal departments. The university's location in Gurugram (Delhi NCR) is a significant advantage, given the concentration of law firms, corporate offices, and courts in the region. While large-scale campus placements (like in engineering or MBA) are less common in law, the university facilitates connections with legal employers and provides career guidance. Entry-level packages for B.A. LL.B. graduates typically range from Rs. 4-7 LPA, with higher packages possible at leading law firms or corporate legal teams. Students are encouraged to leverage the university's NCR location for internships during the program itself.
