Ques. Which university is the best, CUSAT or KTU?

● Top Answer By Anil Tigga on 09 Apr 21

Ans. CUSAT is known for its heritage and integrity while KTU lacks it. As far as the syllabus is concerned, CUSAT is tougher than KTU. Since the syllabus is tough, the degree offered by CUSAT is more valuable. Applying for higher study options in foreign universities will become easier.  CUSAT got featured in Times Higher Education ranking and BRICKS ranking recently. Only 31 institutions were selected from India and this was the only university from Kerala to be featured in the results.  If you opt for CSE or EC, you will definitely secure a job. CUSAT has some very rare degree programs like Polymer engineering, Naval Arc, Safety and Fire Engineering, and Photonics. The course, Naval Arc will set up your career. The labs are equipped with sufficient instruments.  The start-up culture at CUSAT is also great. They conduct frequent industry visits. The students actively participate in Campus politics. SOE and CUCEK are the only campuses under CUSAT. Hence the students’ problems get easily conveyed to the authorities and the actions are taken readily. This is not the case with KTU where students' queries are not given priority.  Categories CUSAT KTU Course Fee 3.53 lakh 3.79 lakh Placement Percentage 75-80% 75% Highest CTC 15 LPA 7-8 LPA Average CTC 5-6 LPA 3.5-4.5 LPA Recruiting Companies Infosys, L&T, IBM, TCS, etc. IBM, Microsoft, TCS, Infosys, etc. Library facility makes CUSAT stand apart. SOE has its own library for literature, engineering books, journals, and magazines.  The syllabus got updated in 2015 and the new syllabus is quite impressive and compatible with the new industry standards. A major disadvantage of CUSAT is its fee which might be higher than usual. Being a government institution, you would only be guided by teachers. Most of the professors are good but some of them fail to make things clear to the students. But this is applicable to all institutions.  Hostel facilities are limited. If you fall into the general category, you would not get a hostel in the first year. But there are many private hostels near the campus. So, accommodation is not a big issue.Read more

Ques. Is Kerala technological university better than CUSAT?

● Top Answer By Debdeep Majumder on 23 Mar 21

Ans. In my opinion, CUSAT is much better than KTU and there are multiple reasons why. One of the only reasons why KTU could be better than CUSAT is the fact that results are released within a month of conducting exams. So if you have deadlines coming up or are applying somewhere, you will not have to wait too long. CUSAT does not follow this scheme. Although recently, they have changed this scheme. Additionally, the choice between these two colleges will heavily depend on the branch you are planning on applying to. As you know, every place will have its own pros and cons. The points below should probably help you gain some insight: KTU and CUSAT are state universities. Moreover, they are both UGC and AICTE approved institutes. A plus point with CUSAT is that it has been accredited with NAAC grade A.  CUSAT also has a relatively better and robust syllabus as compared to KTU. From my knowledge, it is tougher than NITs and possibly nearly equivalent to the syllabus taught in BITs and IITs. If you want to compare, you should take a look at the first-year syllabus taught at both places. CUSAT also has better faculty. Most of them hold a Ph.D. or are highly experienced individuals in their field of study. Moreover, CUSAT is ranked among the top 1000 universities in the world whereas NITs themselves are not on the list.  If you are concerned about placements, you don’t need to worry about them. The highest package offered at CUSAT is INR 15 LPA with an average package of INR 4.7 LPA. Major recruiters at the college include Cisco, L&T, and TCS whereas when it comes to KTU most students are of the opinion that only 30% of them have been placed. Another major plus point is that the Engineering branch has been accredited under tier 1 colleges by NBA. Lastly, the campus also plays a pivotal role when it comes to choosing between the two. My friends would describe it as the dream campus with exciting opportunities. From this, my advice to you would be to definitely consider CUSAT over KTU for your studies. Your career will be set and you will have a plethora of opportunities open for you.Read more

Ques. Can I do a college transfer and a branch change together in KTU (APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University)?

● Top Answer By Megha Rohilla on 18 Feb 21

Ans. There are certain norms that need to be followed during a college transfer or branch transfer. The following are the details for the same: An inter-college transfer is only applicable if you are a regular B.tech student. It is permitted before the commencement of 3rd and 5th semesters The transfer is dependent on the sanctioned seat intake of the respective college. You must fulfill the eligibility requirements to be able to be promoted to the 3rd/5th semester. If there are a great number of applicants then the admission will take place on the GPA obtained up to 1st and 3rd semester. If any ties, The request for a college transfer must be submitted to the college in which the transfer is sought. You must take a recommendation letter from the Principal of your current institution. You can only choose 1 college to transfer your admission. If you have availed college transfer in 3rd semester, then you will not be permitted to do so again in 5th semester.  The colleges usually issue a notification during the 2nd/4th semester wherein inviting applications for college transfer. If selected, you will have to pay an application fee of Rs.3000 within the stipulated time. However, if you from SC/ST category, there will be no application fee.Read more

Ques. Is there any opportunities for doing internship for KTU (APJ Abdul Kalam technological university) students?

● Top Answer By Pranjal Singhal on 18 Feb 21

Ans. The answer is yes, rather a big yes. There are mainly opportunities for summer training courses as well as internships under KTU. Understand the internship's actual meaning You can continue an internship at the time of semester breaks.  The faculties will help you to find out nearby worksites and companies so that you could utilize the time of semester break.  The industries can be small but the attachment of the student is needed for their future career perspectives.  When to do the internship You get two months’ pause from the end of one semester and to begin of next semester classes.  In this gap, you can do their internship as per your respective subjects for summer training courses as well as internships. Busy with Supplementary Exams It should be cleared that this summer internships programs are only for that student who cleared all the subjects in semester 1.  However, it is seen in most of the cases that the students have papers that are lagging behind, and they cannot apply for internships. You can do it in the upcoming years. Why you should do this internship The internship program is important to complete the B.Tech degree successfully under KTU.  If you want to get minimum credit points of 100, then you must be involved with various extra curriculum activities like ED CLUB, NSS, Internships, Sports, Arts etc. Where you should do their internship You should join as an apprentice at any industry, related to your stream, at least for 5 days.  You should submit a small report related to their work to the industry officials.  You will also receive an industry certificate after the completion of this internship, which you can submit to the institute to earn points. One of my friends is a student from the Mechanical Engineering stream. He conducted his internship in Kerala State Water Transport Corporation, along with Royal Enfield (Second Year Internship).Read more
