Amity Mumbai B.Des 3 Continent FAQs
Ques. What exactly is the "3 Continent" component in this programme? Does it mean I will study abroad?
Ans. Yes. The 3 Continent programme is designed to give students genuine international academic exposure. Students spend a semester at a partner university in the UK and another semester at a partner university in the USA, in addition to their regular studies in India (Asia). This means you will physically study on three continents during your 4-year degree. The international semesters are structured academic programmes, not just exchange visits.
Ques. What are the additional costs for the international semesters in the UK and USA?
Ans. Over and above the India tuition fee of approximately Rs. 11.68 lakh, students need to pay an additional fee of approximately 4,200 GBP for the UK semester and approximately 7,200 USD for the USA semester. Students must also budget for travel, accommodation, and living expenses abroad, which can be significant.
Ques. Is there any entrance exam required for admission to this programme?
Ans. No specific design entrance exam (like UCEED or NIFT) is mandatory. Admission is primarily merit-based on Class 12 marks. Students with 80% or above in Class 12 get direct admission. Those below 80% may appear for AMCAT (Amity Common Admission Test), which is conducted by Amity University itself.
Ques. What kind of jobs do B.Des (Fashion Design) graduates from Amity Mumbai get? Are the placements good?
Ans. Graduates from ASFT Mumbai have been placed at top fashion brands like Shantanu & Nikhil, Ritu Kumar, Anita Dongre, Gaurav Gupta, Marks & Spencer, ZARA, and Purple Style Labs. Typical roles include Fashion Designer, Fashion Consultant, Associate Merchandiser, and Fashion Stylist. The overall university placement rate is 88.8% for 2024-25. However, fashion industry salaries at entry level tend to be in the range of Rs. 3-5 LPA, with growth over time.
Ques. How is the B.Des (Fashion Design) - 3 Continent different from the regular B.Des (Fashion Design) at Amity Mumbai?
Ans. The core curriculum is similar, but the 3 Continent variant includes mandatory international semesters in the UK and USA, which significantly enhances global exposure, international networking, and cross-cultural design understanding. The fee is also higher due to the international component. The regular B.Des (Fashion Design) has a 1st year semester fee of Rs. 81,000 compared to Rs. 1,46,000 for the 3 Continent variant.
Ques. Is French language training mandatory in this programme?
Ans. Yes, French language is taught across multiple semesters (French I through French V) as part of the curriculum. This is a distinctive feature of the programme and adds value for students interested in working with international fashion brands, many of which have French origins or connections.
