Residence Facilities at Hamilton College

The first-year students are given double, triple or quad housing arrangements, and the single room arranged is for the non-first year students. They have various residence halls such as Babbit Hall, Bundy East and & West Halls, Carnegie Hall, Eells House, Ferguson House, Griffin Road Apartments, Kirkland Hall, McIntosh, Milbank, and Minor Hall. Some halls are specially reserved for first-year students such as the Dunham Hall, Keehn Hall, and Wallace Johnson House.

There are a total of 28 Residence Halls, which have the capacity to accommodate more than 1500 students, Dunham being the largest residence hall on campus with a capacity of 252 students.

Depending on the halls, there are different amenities such as kitchen, patio, living area, specialty housing for the students, and laundry facility.

The Hamilton campus is spread across 1300 acres and has many buildings including the Daniel Burke Library, Kirner-Johnson Building, Carol Woodhouse Weelin Performance Hall, Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, Litchfield Observatory, Hamilton College Chapel, Kirkland Cottage, Buttrick Hall, Elihu Root House, Days-Massalo Center, and various residence halls.

It also includes the Sage Rink and the Root Glen, which are hockey rink and a garden respectively.

The Daniel Burke Library is about 50 years old and houses 500,000 volumes in it. It not only includes a lot of educational books but also has a special collection of rare books and artifacts on the third floor. Some of them include the Beinecke Lesser Antilles Collection, the Ezra Pound collection, and the Communal Societies Collection.

The Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art was constituted to exhibit various arts, archives, photography, and other workshops. They also serve classes for many arts and history classes. They aim to make art accessible through community engagement.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Sincestudying in the US is costly, Hamilton college aims at providing such financial aid to the most deserving of students. They have different types of financial aid and scholarship options so you can find one which suits you the best.

Financial Aid: Students who find it difficult to enroll in the University due to financial difficulties may apply for financial aid.

Student Loans: Students can request for a loan to complete their education at Hamilton according to the year they are in. Student applying for the loan must be eligible and may apply for subsidized loans according to their eligibility. Such loan shall be repaid after the expiry of six months after graduation. Following are the requirements for applying for a student loan:

Parent Loans: Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) are granted to bridge the gap between the cost of attendance and financial aid. Such loans shall begin to be repaid within 60 days after the loan has been given. But it can be postponed until 6 months after the student has graduated. Scholarships

Hamilton College offers international students scholarships to afford their studies in the USA. Scholarships provided by the University are need-based according to individual students. Hamilton Endowed Scholarship is given by either the alumni or/and friends in the college. This represents about 40% of the whole scholarship budget and requires no additional applications.

Work while you study

Campus Employment is a program started to help the students lower the contribution made by their families towards their education. Students are expected to submit their resume and cover letter on Handshake. Thereafter, an interview takes place. The interviewers will prioritise students who need the Campus Employment according to their financial aid status. Any payment made through such employment goes into expenses that are not direct educational costs such as travel to and from campus.
