- Programme-specific: Statement of purpose, three letters of recommendation, CV; GRE optional for most masters and encouraged for chemistry and physics
Oregon State University UG Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: Class 12 with 70% or higher (recommended); minimum unweighted GPA 2.5 to 3.0 on the 4.0 scale
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 70 (0-120 legacy scale) or IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5; India-specific IELTS floor is 6.5
- Standardised tests: SAT and ACT are test-optional; scores strengthen scholarship review
Oregon State University accepts TOEFL iBT and IELTS for all international applicants; graduate teaching assistant candidates additionally need TOEFL iBT speaking 22 or IELTS speaking 7.0. Programme-specific minimums should be verified at the OSU International Admissions page since some engineering and business masters set higher thresholds.
Note: Three-year Indian bachelor’s degrees from AICTE, UGC or NAAC-accredited universities are typically accepted for OSU graduate admission, but a WES course-by-course evaluation smooths departmental review and helps unlock graduate assistantship consideration.
Oregon State University Acceptance Rate 2027
As per Oregon State University admission data, the overall undergraduate acceptance rate stands at 77% for the 2026 cycle, and international undergraduate admit rate runs at roughly 83% (estimated) based on third-party analysis. Graduate acceptance varies sharply by department and is not published as a single figure.
The high headline admit rate reflects Oregon State University’s holistic review and broad programme mix rather than low academic rigour. Competitive graduate programmes in computer science, robotics and electrical engineering admit a much smaller share of qualified international applicants than the university-wide figure suggests.
Reality check: Oregon State University’s 77% headline masks large variation; MS Computer Science, MS Robotics and MEng Electrical and Computer Engineering admissions are selectively driven by GPA, prior research and programming portfolio, not just baseline eligibility.

Ques. Which Indian banks and lenders recognise Oregon State University for education loans?
Ans. SBI, HDFC Credila, Avanse, Auxilo, Prodigy Finance and MPower Financing all list Oregon State University as an eligible institution for education loans covering tuition and living expenses. SBI’s Global Ed-Vantage scheme funds up to INR 1.5 crore with property collateral, while non-collateral options through Prodigy Finance and MPower Financing typically cap around INR 80 lakh for STEM master’s programmes, subject to admit letter and I-20 verification.
Ques. What documents does OSU accept as English-medium bachelor’s waiver proof for Indian applicants?
Ans. Oregon State University accepts an official medium-of-instruction letter from an Indian university’s registrar or dean stating that the entire bachelor’s programme was taught in English. The letter must be on institutional letterhead, signed and stamped. Applicants with degrees from AICTE, UGC or NAAC-accredited universities where English is the confirmed instruction language usually receive the waiver during graduate admission review after departmental committee approval.
Ques. How long does WES credential evaluation take for OSU graduate admission?
Ans. WES course-by-course credential evaluation typically takes 7 to 20 business days for Indian bachelor’s degrees once all official transcripts arrive at WES from the issuing university. Indian applicants should initiate the WES evaluation at least three months before the OSU graduate application deadline. WES sends the evaluation electronically to OSU Graduate Admissions using the receiving institution code, avoiding physical mailing delays from India to Corvallis.
Ques. What dependent visa options exist for spouses of OSU international students?
Ans. Spouses and children under 21 of F-1 visa holders at Oregon State University qualify for F-2 dependent visas. F-2 spouses may enrol part-time in avocational courses and full-time in kindergarten to grade 12, but cannot work in the United States. J-1 exchange visitor dependents (J-2) may apply for work authorisation. The OSU Office of International Services assists with dependent DS-2019 or I-20 issuance after student enrolment confirmation.

- The campus was very good and had pretty good infrastructure for practical learning.
- Faculty and professors are very experienced and will help us through the learning process and it’s very easy to score good marks.
- College city is calm and peaceful which is very safe and no need to worry about the stay.
Dislikes
- The fee is too high to pay for bachelors/masters.
- Library closes at 10pm almost everyday which is not sufficient for few students.
- Health center facilities are also closed by evening and no place to go for emergencies during late nights.
Campus Life
- I think we have OSU cascades and OSU Corvallis.
- We have recreational centres like Dixon and McAlexander and other athletic gyms.
- We have a great library as well and there are many events conducted during the term all the time. There a good clubs near by which is recommended by everyone during the weekends.
- We have cultural and extra curricular activities conducted for festivals and games every year.
Fees
- It’s $12000 per term and I stayed off campus where it was almost $600 for rent and $100 for utilities and for food and stuff it would be around $250 per month.
- For overall it was almost $65000 for me to complete the entire masters course as I had part-time I was able to cover my personal expenses through that which I used to get almost $1000 every month for working 20 hours per week on campus.

- My research interests were matching with what was happening here.
- Some of the best professors are there in my university and the research is top notch. The facilities are amazing. Especially the robotics lab has some of the most sophisticated equipments that you can work with.
Dislikes
- It is not very inclusive. Some graduate advisor and professors are racist. Sometime if you get stuck with a bad advisor, it can become very stressful and traumatic. Be very careful which professor you choose as your advisor as that is very important for you to successfully complete your degree on time.
Overview
It has been a rocky ride with loads of ups and downs. The newly recruited professors are sub par. The established professors are amazing.
Campus Life
Pretty happening. There are a few clubs and periodical events happening. There are also some periods of dull without any lively campus life.

- Everything, its funded for me, stipends are provided, weather is calm , peaceful, walk even at 3 am at night. greenest city. good professors. There are many fun courses to register like swimming, boxing, karate, yoga, etc. Free gym, free groceries, and cheap houses.
Dislikes
- Lots of research work, not industry oriented, finding professors is tough, you need to complete certain amount of courses per research area. finding an advisor takes time. 3 term a year so lots of study work with less of individual effort.
Overview
Good, hard work pays off, don't get distracted much, keep improving you will eventually succeed.
Campus Life
Great, its good to be there, peaceful, organized, good people around you, library is good to study.

The program specifications aligned well with my research and career goals. The program also had a curriculum that satisfied all my needs to learn required skills. I was confident that the skills that the course would provide me would be helpful in setting my career in the field of public health
Overview
The ongoing research projects in the university aligned with my research interests.

There is an online website where you can find information on different clubs and events taking place in the campus. There is also a Student Experience Center where you can participate in various extracurricular activities.
