USI offers academic terms for Fall/ Summer/ Spring. 

USI accepts international applicants, given that they have completed Secondary Education with College Preparatory curriculum, fulfilled the minimum grade point equivalency, provided required official academic records, met the appropriate deadlines, and verified financial support for one academic year. 

The admissions process is similar for both international and domestic applicants. However, international applicants need to meet some additional requirements and deadlines.

Admissions Requirement:

 International applicants must satisfy the following requirements in order to be eligible for University of Southern Indiana admissions:

  • A completed application
  • Official High School /SSC transcripts. (In case of undergraduate admissions) 
  • Official Bachelor Degree transcripts. (In case of graduate admissions) 
  • Transcripts evaluated by an authorized agency, which are official transcript translations and credentials evaluation. 
  • ACT( min score - 27) or SAT (min score - 900) scores (for undergraduate admissions) sent directly to the University. 
  • TOEFL score report sent directly to the University.

English Language Proficiency

International Applicants are required to present TOEFL, ESL, or SAT or ACT scores to demonstrate English proficiency. The minimum required scores by the university are:-

Visa Process for International Students

International Applicants can apply for a student’s visa(F1 or M) to study in the United States right after an application is issued. Students whose application has been approved will be issued the I-20 form and need to pay a mandatory SEVIS I-901 fee, this is separate from the application or the administration fee. Only after the payment of the SEVIS fee, the applicant can schedule an interview with the US Embassy for the Visa process. The SEVIS stands for Student Exchange Visitor Information System. The College Admissions authorities will feed the name of the applicant in their SEVIS after the payment of 350 USD.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements:-

  • Applicant’s High School/SSC Class rank/Mark sheet, when available, is mandatory. 
  • An applicant is not required to mail the Letter of Recommendation or LOR, and essay unless additional information is requested by the Admissions Officer. 
  • If essay and LOR are required the applicant needs to submit the essay while the LOR must be submitted by the School Counsellor and 2 Teachers.
  • All freshmen applications must accompany with their ACT or SAT scores for the undergraduate programs. These scores are electronically sent from the College Board or ACT. 

GraduateAdmission Requirements:-

USI offers graduate degrees in Business Management, Engineering, Health and Public Services, Literal Arts, Fitness Studies, etc. to students from all over the world. Students applying must have a general GPA of 2.5.

  • Official school transcripts, diplomas, and degree certificates from all universities attended are required. These MUST be in both English and your native language, if applicable. English translations must be from either the academic institution or a certified translator. 
  • USI degree program applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency.
  • Finances proof related document is mandatory. 
  • Applicants must have an overall minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.5/4.0.

Ques. What should I include when I apply? 

Ans. Along with the completed application, the applicants need to include:-

  • A copy of the passport. 
  • Original Official transcripts from all secondary schools and colleges attended with their English translations if required. 
  • A certified bank statement. 
  • A completed Statement of Finances form. 

Ques. How long does it have to take to get the visa?

Ans. Wait times for interview appointments vary by location, season, and visa category, so you should apply for your visa early.

Ques. Is the campus physically accessible?

Ques. Are any changes being made to Fall 2021 admission requirements? 

Ans. Yes, the University of Southern Indiana Board of Trustees has approved a proposal to eliminate the requirement for undergraduate applicants to submit standardized test scores, beginning with the 2021-22 academic year. In this, the students applying for admission to USI would not need to submit Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT) scores as part of the application process. Certain programs, merit-based, and USI Foundation scholarships, may still require SAT or ACT scores, and some students may still be requested to submit scores after review of their application.
