Dartmouth College fees for Indian students depend on the school, term count, and aid route. Postgraduate tuition runs from $41,424 (INR 39.78 Lakhs) to $95,596 (INR 91.79 Lakhs) for major published routes. Undergraduate tuition is $71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) for the 2026/27 fee year. The Tuck Master of Business Administration (MBA) costs $87,536 (INR 84.05 Lakhs) in first-year tuition.

Hanover costs rise because Dartmouth is a residential college in a small New Hampshire town. Guarini lists 12-month housing and living expenses at $49,782 (INR 47.80 Lakhs). College housing is the first planning route for undergraduates, while Tuck and graduate students must compare on-campus budgets with off-campus allowances.

  • Dartmouth undergraduate aid is need-blind for international citizens and meets demonstrated need.
  • Tuck scholarships range from $10,000 (INR 9.60 Lakhs) to full tuition, with a listed average of $29,290 (INR 28.12 Lakhs).
  • Thayer need-based aid can cover up to 40% of tuition for eligible full-time engineering master’s students.

A Fall 2027 MBA first-year budget reaches $135,866 (INR 1.30 Crore) after tuition, living costs, health insurance, the program fee, and visa charges. A four-year undergraduate Computer Science Bachelor of Arts (AB) reaches $286,788 (INR 2.75 Crore) for tuition alone at unchanged 2026/27 rates. The next fee year may change after Dartmouth releases 2027/28 rates. Currency conversion uses 1 United States dollar (USD) = Indian rupee (INR) 96.02 on 25 September 2026.

Fall 2027 Intake: MBA Round 2 Is The Main Open Route

Intake: Tuck MBA Round 1 closed on 24 September 2026. Round 2 is workable for Fall 2027, with submission due on 5 January 2027, 3:30 a.m. IST on 6 January. Undergraduate Fall 2027 Regular Decision is due on 1 January 2027.

Fee update: The latest published 2026/27 rates include undergraduate tuition of $71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs), Tuck MBA tuition of $87,536 (INR 84.05 Lakhs), and Guarini four-term tuition of $95,596 (INR 91.79 Lakhs).

When to pay: Tuck’s Round 2 non-refundable deposit is due on 19 April 2027, and Dartmouth does not publish the deposit amount outside admitted-student instructions.

Scholarships: Tuck scholarship review happens with admission. J N Tata, K C Mahindra, Inlaks, and Narotam Sekhsaria have closed their 2026/27 published cycles, so Fall 2027 applicants should watch their next cycle.

Next step: Compare Dartmouth deadlines before budgeting through the Dartmouth admission guide.

Dartmouth College Tuition Fees by Programme

Dartmouth College tuition fees are school-specific, so the fee structure changes sharply between Tuck, Thayer, Guarini, Health Sciences, and the undergraduate College.

Dartmouth College Postgraduate Fees: Fall 2027

Postgraduate (PG) tuition starts at $41,424 (INR 39.78 Lakhs) for the online engineering route and reaches $95,596 (INR 91.79 Lakhs) for four-term Guarini billing.

Tuition is charged by academic year, term count, or programme year. The table names the published basis for each programme.

The full-course column uses current published rates and is not a future-fee forecast.

  • Tuck is the costliest PG route because the programme fee adds $6,150 (INR 5.91 Lakhs) in year one.
  • Thayer’s MEM uses four terms, while its on-campus MEng is designed for three terms.
  • Health Sciences separates tuition from fees, housing, health insurance, and transport.
  • Computer Science applicants must budget by Guarini term charges because the degree has coursework and thesis routes.

Source: Dartmouth Tuck cost of attendance, Dartmouth Engineering cost of attendance, Guarini tuition and living costs, Health Sciences tuition page.

Note: Dartmouth’s PG prices are not one annual band. A Fall 2027 MEM budget uses four Thayer terms, while a Fall 2027 MEng budget uses three terms.

Dartmouth College Undergraduate Fees: Fall 2027

Undergraduate (UG) tuition is $71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) across Dartmouth College majors for 2026/27.

Dartmouth awards the Bachelor of Arts (AB) in most undergraduate fields. Engineering students may add the Bachelor of Engineering (BE), often with extra terms.

ProgrammeDurationPublished tuition (USD and INR)Indicative full-course tuition (USD and INR)
Computer Science, Bachelor of Arts4 years, usually 12 enrolled terms$71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) per year$286,788 (INR 2.75 Crore)
Economics, Bachelor of Arts4 years, usually 12 enrolled terms$71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) per year$286,788 (INR 2.75 Crore)
Engineering Sciences, Bachelor of Arts4 years for AB, BE may add one to three terms$71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) per year$286,788 (INR 2.75 Crore) for AB tuition
Government, Bachelor of Arts4 years, usually 12 enrolled terms$71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) per year$286,788 (INR 2.75 Crore)
Biological Sciences, Bachelor of Arts4 years, usually 12 enrolled terms$71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) per year$286,788 (INR 2.75 Crore)

The full-course column uses current published rates and excludes fee increases, health insurance, housing, food, books, visa costs, and travel.

  • The undergraduate fee table is flat because Dartmouth does not vary tuition by major.
  • Engineering Sciences needs a separate AB versus BE check before loan planning.
  • Computer Science and Economics qualify as STEM-coded majors for United States Optional Practical Training (OPT) planning.
  • The first-year cost of attendance adds housing, food, fees, books, health insurance, and a computer.

Dartmouth College Fee Trend by Year

Dartmouth’s billed undergraduate package rose 3.75% for 2026/27, so Fall 2027 families should rerun totals when 2027/28 rates publish.

Fee yearUG billed tuition, fees, housing and food (USD)UG billed tuition, fees, housing and food (INR)YoY %
2024/25$87,768INR 84.27 LakhsBase year

2026/27$95,382INR 91.59 Lakhs3.75%

Source: Dartmouth Board of Trustees tuition announcements.

Key Insight: Fall 2027 decisions still rely on 2026/27 published rates until Dartmouth releases 2027/28 charges. The next intake after Fall 2027 should expect the new fee year, not the 2026/27 table.

Cost of Living in Hanover for Indian Students

Hanover living expenses for a 12-month Guarini graduate budget are $49,782 (INR 47.80 Lakhs), before tuition and mandatory fees.

Source: Guarini tuition and living costs.

  • Tuck first-year students are automatically packaged with an on-campus budget.
  • Undergraduates have college housing and food in the billed cost of attendance.
  • Guarini’s annual figure is higher than the undergraduate housing and food line because it covers 12 months.
  • Private rent should not be treated as cheaper without lease, heating, deposit, and transport evidence.

Note: A Fall 2027 Guarini student should treat $22,260 (INR 21.37 Lakhs) as the 12-month housing allowance. That is not the same measure as Dartmouth undergraduate room rent.

Hanover’s practical choice is not only rent. The term system creates multiple bill dates, and a 12-month lease can outlast a nine-month MEng route.

Currency Tip: Fall 2027 bills arrive by term, so avoid converting the full year in one transfer. Using Dartmouth’s payment provider or a forex card can save 2% to 3% against a raw wire transfer.

Total Cost of Studying at Dartmouth College

The total cost of studying at Dartmouth College reaches INR 96.95 Lakhs to INR 1.30 Crore for selected first-year routes.

The table separates tuition, living expenses, and mandatory charges. It avoids adding full-programme tuition to one-year living costs.

  • The Tuck total includes the first-year program fee, health insurance, the visa fee, and the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System fee.
  • The undergraduate total includes the required computer allowance published by Dartmouth Admissions.
  • A Tuck deposit reduces the first-term student account because Tuck applies it as a credit.
  • Airfare is excluded because Dartmouth includes only a minimum travel allowance in aid calculations.

A $100,000 (INR 96.02 Lakhs) education loan has an estimated equated monthly instalment near INR 1.35 Lakhs over 10 years at 10.5% interest. That EMI should be tested against post-MBA or STEM Optional Practical Training earnings.

Next step: Compare city costs with the USA cost of living guide.

Key Insight: For Fall 2027, the biggest controllable saving is aid, not rent. A Tuck average scholarship of $29,290 (INR 28.12 Lakhs) can reduce first-year borrowing below the next intake’s fee update.

Dartmouth College Tuition Deposit and Payment Options

Dartmouth’s deposit rule differs by school: undergraduates pay no enrollment deposit, while Tuck, MEM, and MEng use non-refundable deposits.

Tuck publishes deposit dates but not the public deposit amount. Thayer says MEM and MEng deposits are non-refundable and credited to first-term tuition.

  • Undergraduate College: no deposit; the admitted-student signature secures the place.
  • Tuck MBA Round 2: deposit due 19 April 2027, with the amount shown to admitted students.
  • Thayer MEM and MEng: deposit is required by the offer-letter deadline and applies to first-term tuition.

Methods of Payment: Fall 2027

Dartmouth uses D-Pay for student account statements and payment plan access.

  • Bank transfer or wire transfer can work, but bank spreads can add 2% to 3%.
  • International payment providers listed inside D-Pay should be compared before transfer.
  • A forex card can reduce conversion spread for arrival cash and smaller payments.
  • Education-loan disbursement should reach the student account before the term due date.

Steps to Pay the Tuition Fee for International Students

  1. Accept the offer in the Dartmouth portal.
  2. Pay the applicable deposit when the offer letter requires it.
  3. Receive Form I-20, the document used for the F-1 student visa.
  4. Pay the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System fee and visa fee.
  5. Pay the term balance through D-Pay before the bill due date.
  6. Keep receipts for visa, loan, and foreign exchange records.

Source: Dartmouth D-Pay, Tuck application deadlines, Tuck admissions FAQs, Dartmouth Engineering admitted-student checklist.

Next step: Review visa payment timing in the US student visa guide.

Note: Tuck Round 2 admits have a 19 April 2027 deposit deadline. Plan bank processing before that date because the visa file needs timely proof of funds.

Hidden Costs of Studying at Dartmouth College

Fall 2027 hidden costs start before arrival because the F-1 visa fee and SEVIS fee together cost $535 (INR 51,371).

  • F-1 student visa application fee: $185 (INR 17,764).
  • SEVIS I-901 fee: $350 (INR 33,607).
  • Dartmouth health insurance: $5,216 (INR 5.01 Lakhs) unless a waiver is approved.
  • Undergraduate computer allowance: $1,700 (INR 1.63 Lakhs).
  • Guarini international student fee: $500 (INR 48,010) over four terms.
  • D-Pay late payment penalty: 1.5% of the unpaid student account balance.

Cash Needed Before Arrival: Tuck MBA

A Fall 2027 Tuck MBA student should hold at least $5,751 (INR 5.52 Lakhs) before travel for visa charges and health insurance.

The Tuck enrollment deposit is excluded because the public page does not list the amount. Airfare is also excluded because it is route-specific.

Source: Dartmouth health insurance, Tuck admissions FAQs, Department of State visa fee page, SEVP I-901 fee page.

Note: The hidden cost families miss is health insurance. Dartmouth lists $5,216 (INR 5.01 Lakhs), and it can appear before loan reimbursements settle.

Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students

The strongest Fall 2027 saving lever is institutional aid because Dartmouth’s housing market leaves limited verified rent arbitrage.

  • Claim undergraduate need-based aid with the financial aid application by 1 February 2027.
  • Request Thayer aid inside the MEM or MEng application because it can reach 40% of tuition.
  • Use Tuck Round 2 for scholarship consideration before the 5 January 2027 deadline.
  • Use Section 80E of India’s Income Tax Act for education-loan interest deductions.
  • Use on-campus work cautiously because F-1 students are limited to 20 hours weekly during terms.
  • Plan Optional Practical Training carefully: standard OPT is 12 months, while eligible STEM routes can reach 36 months.

Source: Dartmouth Financial Aid, Dartmouth Engineering, Tuck financial aid, ICE student employment guidance.

Tip for Indian Students: For Fall 2027, a 40% Thayer tuition award on $95,596 (INR 91.79 Lakhs) cuts $38,238.40 (INR 36.72 Lakhs). That is larger than most rent differences families can verify.

Is Dartmouth College Worth the Cost for Indian Students

Dartmouth College is worth the cost for students targeting Tuck MBA, Thayer engineering, or funded undergraduate aid.

The financial case is strongest when aid reduces borrowing below INR 75 Lakhs. A $75,000 (INR 72.02 Lakhs) loan has an estimated EMI near INR 1.01 Lakhs over 10 years at 10.5% interest.

Dartmouth is ranked #270 in QS World University Rankings 2027 and #180 in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. Tuck is ranked #26 in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2026.

The value calculation is weaker for unfunded undergraduate study if the family must borrow the full first-year budget. It improves sharply when Dartmouth’s demonstrated-need policy applies.

Source: QS, Times Higher Education, Financial Times, Dartmouth Financial Aid.

Next step: Check Dartmouth’s ranking context through the Dartmouth ranking guide.

Key Insight: Fall 2027 is financially sound when aid cuts at least INR 28 Lakhs from first-year borrowing. Tuck’s average scholarship amount reaches $29,290 (INR 28.12 Lakhs).

Dartmouth College needs a school-by-school budget, not a single fee estimate. For Fall 2027, plan around $87,536 (INR 84.05 Lakhs) for Tuck first-year tuition, $95,596 (INR 91.79 Lakhs) for four-term Guarini or MEM billing, and $71,697 (INR 68.84 Lakhs) for undergraduate tuition. Scholarships change the decision most: Tuck’s average award of $29,290 (INR 28.12 Lakhs) can lower EMI pressure, while undergraduate aid can meet demonstrated need. The next intake after Fall 2027 should be recalculated when Dartmouth publishes 2027/28 rates.

Since it is a PhD program you get to choose the courses (other than the basic stuff that is mandatory) and this helps you to study courses that is relevant to your research.

Fees

It is a lot (since it is private institute and I don't know the exact figure) but since it is a phd program, it is all covered.

I love that Dartmouth is a liberal arts college - it allows you to take classes in any department you like as long as you fulfill the prereqs and can fit it into your course schedule for graduation. It was great for me.

Fees

I got great financial aid, but tuition, like any normal private university in the US, is quite high. I believe that if your parents make below 100k, you do not get any loans included in your financial aid package - they are replaced by grants.

I had a excellent experience with the program and got beyond my expectations from the college. I got to learn some key business and tech skills which are extremely valuable in today's job market. To top that, the faculty and the students cohort make it a wholesome learning experience. The program has so much to offer in just 15 months.
