Dartmouth College offers 950+ endowed scholarship funds, of which 15+ pathways are accessible to Indian applicants.

Undergraduate aid runs on a need-based model since the Class of 2026 need-blind rollout. Graduate funding sits inside Tuck, Thayer, Guarini and Geisel schools.

  • Standard MBA tuition at Tuck: $84,250 (INR 80.8 Lakhs) per year
  • MBA tuition after average Tuck Scholarship Award: $49,571 (INR 47.5 Lakhs) per year
  • Fully-funded pathway (Thayer PhD): Tuition covered plus $49,862 (INR 47.8 Lakhs) yearly stipend
  • Next tracked deadline: Thayer MEM financial aid priority, tentative January 15, 2027 (annual cycle)

Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 USD = INR 95.90 as of August 2026. Need-based aid means Dartmouth assesses your family’s finances via the CSS Profile and grants a package that closes the tuition gap.

Dartmouth College Scholarships for UG Students

Dartmouth grants the Dartmouth Scholarship to admitted Indian undergraduates on a pure need-based model, with the Class of 2026 package averaging $67,125 (INR 64.4 Lakhs) per year.

Undergraduate applicants pay no separate scholarship fee at Dartmouth. The financial aid office pairs admitted internationals with matching endowed funds automatically. Loans were eliminated from aid packages in 2022, so packages are grant-only for Indian admits.

Reddit Insight: International admits since 2022 report average grants near $67,000 (INR 64.3 Lakhs), the same package size as US peers, because the need-blind rollout stops financial data from touching the admissions decision.

Tuck reviews every admit’s file for the scholarship without a separate essay. Indian applicants who miss Round 1 typically report thinner offers, so timing matters. Thayer MEM and MS aid runs on parental income filings and caps at 40% of the yearly tuition figure.

Reddit Insight: Indian Tuck admits often stack the average Tuck Scholarship of $34,679 with a JN Tata Endowment loan-scholarship of up to INR 20 Lakhs. This closes the annual $84,250 (INR 80.8 Lakhs) tuition gap without private borrowing.

India-Specific Scholarships at Dartmouth College

Dartmouth does not reserve any scholarship by Indian nationality, but three institutional pathways channel most funding to Indian applicants.

PathwayAmountEligibilityDeadline
Dartmouth Scholarship for International UndergraduatesCovers 100% of demonstrated need, up to full COA near $92,000 (INR 88.2 Lakhs)Indian undergraduate admits filing the CSS Profile plus ISFAANovember 1, 2026 (Early Decision); January 3, 2027 (Regular Decision)

Thayer Faculty-Sponsored MS FundingFull tuition plus a 12-month stipendIndian MS applicants matched to a research labRolling with department, apply Fall 2026

Indian applicants file three documents to unlock institutional funding at the undergraduate and Thayer master’s levels:

  • CSS Profile with Dartmouth’s institutional code 3355
  • International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) with parental income data
  • Certification of Finances confirming ability to fund any residual gap

Indian MBAs face no separate scholarship form at Tuck. Indian MS aspirants at Thayer should email prospective faculty labs early to secure funded slots before the admissions cycle closes.

Reddit Insight: The CSS Profile at Dartmouth asks for 2024 and 2025 Indian tax filings, so applicants without an ITR history often ask parents to file the current year early. Missing filings block the aid decision.

Indian PhD applicants at Dartmouth do not apply for stipends separately. Funding rides on the faculty match, so early outreach to research labs matters more than any scholarship essay. The Guarini top-up adds $4,000 (INR 3.84 Lakhs) yearly on the base stipend.

External Government Scholarships for Dartmouth College Applicants

Indian applicants layer external awards on top of Dartmouth aid, with the Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship covering tuition, J-1 visa costs, round-trip airfare and monthly living stipends for up to two years.

KC Mahindra Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies AbroadUp to INR 12 Lakhs (Golden Achiever grant)Indian citizen admitted to a postgraduate programme abroadTentative March 31, 2027

Fulbright-Nehru does not fully cover US MBA tuition at Tuck, so Indian MBAs treat it as a partial layer. JN Tata pairs well with Tuck since the loan carries a low concessional interest rate. Inlaks skews toward humanities and social sciences.

Reddit Insight: Indian applicants who miss the Fulbright-Nehru work-experience gate often pivot to JN Tata, since JN Tata accepts fresh graduates without a three-year work bar.

Dartmouth College Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. 1. What is the maximum funding an Indian applicant can pull together at Dartmouth College?

Ans. An Indian undergraduate can pull up to the full cost of attendance around $92,000 (INR 88.2 Lakhs) through the Dartmouth Scholarship plus travel allowance. An Indian MBA can stack the average Tuck Scholarship of $34,679 (INR 33.3 Lakhs) with Consortium or Forté fellowship benefits. External JN Tata funding adds up to INR 20 Lakhs on top of institutional aid. PhD admits already sit at 100% funding, so no additional stacking is needed.

Ques. 2. When should Indian applicants apply to secure the strongest scholarship offer?

Ans. Undergraduate applicants should submit by the Early Decision deadline of November 1, 2026, because ED admits get first look from the aid office. MBA applicants should target Tuck Round 1 in the tentative September 30, 2026 window, since scholarship pools thin by later rounds. External awards like Fulbright-Nehru run tentative May 2026 deadlines a full year before enrollment.

Ques. 3. How do Indian applicants apply for financial aid at Dartmouth?

Ans. Undergraduate and Thayer master’s applicants must file the CSS Profile with Dartmouth’s institutional code 3355 alongside the International Student Financial Aid Application. Parents submit 2024 and 2025 Indian tax filings and W-2 equivalents. Tuck MBA scholarships need no separate application, since every admit is auto-reviewed. Thayer PhD funding flows from the faculty match, not a form.

Ques. 4. What academic threshold does an Indian applicant need for merit aid?

Ans. Dartmouth’s undergraduate aid is need-based, so there is no GPA cutoff beyond the admissions offer itself. Tuck Scholarship Awards favor GMAT scores near the class average of 726 plus strong leadership signals. Fulbright-Nehru requires a bachelor’s degree with 55%+ marks and three years of relevant work.

Ques. 5. How does the Tuck Scholarship Award actually work for Indian MBA admits?

Ans. Tuck reviews every admit’s file for scholarship eligibility without a separate essay or form. Awards ranged from $10,000 to full tuition in the 2025-26 cohort, with an average of $34,679 (INR 33.3 Lakhs) per year. Awards renew automatically in Year 2 if the recipient stays in good academic standing at Tuck.

Ques. 6. Will the Dartmouth aid package cover living costs in Hanover, New Hampshire?

Ans. Yes for undergraduates, since the Dartmouth Scholarship meets full demonstrated need including housing, meals, books and personal costs. Estimated 2026-27 cost of attendance sits near $92,000 (INR 88.2 Lakhs) and the aid package closes the gap after your calculated family contribution. Graduate stipends of $49,862 (INR 47.8 Lakhs) at Thayer PhD comfortably cover Hanover’s off-campus rent range of $1,200 to $1,800 monthly.

Nothing separately. The program I applied to cover my tuition fees and pays a stipend (most PhD programs do so).

I applied to this college for its extensive cell bio research and I'm happy that it lived up to my expectations. The environment is a green flag for research and there is a lot of support you can find along your way here.

Yes, the school automatically sends financial aid forms every year for the upcoming year. You fill out an application, as well as the FAFSA and send your tax documents through IDOC. They also have a survey that you fill out and the school matches you with school scholarships that you qualify for.

The financial aid award they gave was great. The setting of the college is rural and something I'd never experienced before. The small class sizes were also a plus - the largest class I've been in had 100 people, while most of my classes have been 10-20 people.

I chose based on its location, size, and reputation. It was also the best college I got into for undergrad. Dartmouth is very beautiful and also gave me the best financial aid package which is why I decided to attend Dartmouth.

Dartmouth offers one of the best MEM courses in the united states. It offers a great mix of engineering and business courses from Thayer school of engineering and Tuck school of business.
