Juniata College Programs, Campus and Residence

Programs, Faculties, and Divisions

Juniata College provides admission in its more than 100 undergraduate and graduate academic programs. Instead of the traditional majors system, Juniata College offers programs of emphasis (POEs) where the student can design their education according to their future goals. 

The most popular POEs offered by the college are Biology/Pre-Health, Accounting/Business, Environmental Studies, Education, Chemistry, and Psychology. The college has also introduced new POEs in Professional Writing, Arts Production, Environmental Economics and Fisheries, and Aquatic Sciences. 

The college also offers 5 graduate degree programs. These include Master of Business, Accounting, Organizational Leadership, Bioinformatics and Data Science.

Every major program of the university offers at least one study abroad program and the college has its 63 total partner institutions on over 6 continents.

Campus

Juniata College’s main campus has a total campus area of 110-acres and is supplemented by the Baker Peace Chapel and Baker-Henry Nature Preserve. The campus provides the facility of the library which has almost 500,000 Books, audio lectures, videos, Serial Backfiles, Government Documents and additional of 20 Commercial On-Line Services. The college has wireless access across campus including the dorm rooms as well. 

The campus has a newly Renovated LEED-Gold Certified Founders Hall with Student Garden. It also has Raystown Environmental Studies Field Station spread in an area of 365-acres including the two student residences and Shuster Hall. The campus also has a Juniata College Museum of Art and Sports and Recreation Center. The campus also has an 88,000 square-foot state-of-the-art von Liebig Center for the study of Science. 

Residence

The college provides an on-campus residential facility for students in its 21 residence halls, which has a total capacity of 1,274 students. All 21 residence halls are fully facilitated with an internet connection, Jim halls, recreation centers, parks, sports centers, and other facilities. 

82% of undergraduates live in Juniata campus dorms. There are separate halls for Juniors, Seniors and Sophomores. The residential campus is ranked Under Top 135 Safe Schools by the Reader's Digest.

Scholarship and Financial Aids

Nearly 98% of all freshmen are given financial assistance and aid. The average value of aid was around 37,720 USD for all freshmen, in the year 2018. Juniata college assesses individual situations for financial aid and grant funds and maximizes scholarships to minimize student loans. 

  • International Friendship Award- All full-time degree seeking international students receive an amount of 2,000 USD every year.
  • Merit-based scholarships- Students with high record achievements are eligible for scholarships ranging in amount from 2,000 USD- 25,000 USD every year. 
  • Other Financial Aid Resources- International students can also apply for private or external scholarships to study in the USA. Some of the private scholarship providers include InternationalStudent.com, InternationalScholarships.com, Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling, etc. 

Alumni Network

The alumni council of the college has more than 16,000 alumni living around the world. This council also has the current students and their families, faculty, and staff of the college, with whom they share a common bond. The Alumni Association helps students in finding jobs, making a professional and social connection and making roots in a new community. Each year, the college holds events like happy hours, sports, picnics, sporting events, and many more for the alumni.
