Programs offered by UTM

The University of Tennessee Martin offers several academic degree programs that include undergraduate, graduate, pre-professional and online courses to its students under more than 100 different fields of study which include agriculture, applied sciences, business, education, health, engineering, humanities, fine arts, etc. 

Some of the popular UG courses offered by UTM include nursing, accounting, agriculture, economics, engineering, English, family and consumer science, etc. Some of the graduate courses offered by the university include MBA, counseling family and consumer service, etc. However, international students are not eligible for the graduate or online programs offered. 

University of Tennessee Martin Campus

The main campus of UTM is located in Northwest Tennessee and is about 125 miles northeast of Memphis, 150 miles northwest of Nashville and 60 miles north of Jackson. Educational Outreach teaching centers of UT Martin bring the academic programs to people across West Tennessee through centers in Jackson, Parsons, Ripley, and Selmer, and dual-enrollment course offerings in Tennessee high schools. 

The UTM campus facilities include 47 buildings on a 250-acre main campus and 680 acres of teaching and research lands. The campus includes three traditional residence halls; two apartment-style complexes; a 96,000-square-foot Student Recreation Center; the Paul Meek Library, housing a half-million volumes, a computer lab and Captain’s Coffee; the Boling University Center with modern Sodexo Skyhawk Dining Hall, food court, Barnes & Noble College Bookstore and computer lab. 

UTM Student Housing or Residence Facilities

The University of Tennessee Martin offers only on-campus housing facilities to its students which includes Ellington & Browning Hall, Cooper Hall, University Village I, University of Village II and University Courts.

  • Ellington & Browning Hall- Ellington & Browning Hall are traditional co-ed housing for the students with gender-specific floors.
    • Northside Ellington & Browning Hall are for men whereas Southside Ellington & Browning Hall are for women.
    • The rooms in Ellington & Browning Hall are fully furnished with built-in desks, closets, and beds that require extra-long twin sheets and Kitchen facilities that are accessible to each hall’s basement.
  • Cooper Hall- Cooper Hall is available to students from the fields in Education, Criminal Justice, Engineering, Music, Pre-Professional Health Sciences, and the College of Agriculture or Applied Sciences. 
    • Rooms in Cooper Hall are available in organized suites and two students per room basis with anywhere from 6-8 students per suite with a furnished common area.
    • And each floor room is equipped with presentation technology, study rooms, and a break room. Kitchen facilities are available in the basement.
  • University Village I- University Village I is upperclassmen apartment-style housing community of the university.
    • Double/Triple/ Quadruple sharing bedrooms are available in University Village I and are fully furnished and includes a private bedroom along with a private bathroom.
    • Full-size height adjustable bed, dresser, desk, study chair, closet, washer and dryer, full-size kitchen with appliances, and a balcony to add to the list.
  • University Village II- University Village II is a freshman apartment-style housing community of the university.
    • Double/Triple/ Quadruple sharing bedrooms are available in University Village II fully furnished with extra-long twin size beds with adjustable height, desk, chair, and additional storage.
    • The common area of the University Village II apartment includes furniture, stack unit washer and dryers, two-burner stovetop, and a refrigerator.
  • University Courts- University Courts is a Student-Family apartment complex and offer carpeted or tiled double/triple sharing apartments.
    • All apartments are unfurnished but include a refrigerator and stove. And each apartment has a kitchen, living area, and bathroom
    • Residents are responsible for their electricity. However, the internet, cable, and water are included in the semester rent.

Application Process

Because of the SEVIS/Homeland Security regulations, international students on an F-1 visa to the USA are not eligible for online or graduate programs. They can apply for the UG programs at the university. 

Application: For admissions to the University of Tennessee Martin, students must fill an application form online.

Application Fee: 130 USD (30 USD application fee and 100 USD processing fee)

Scholarships and Financial Aid

The University of Tennessee Martin offers several financial aid options that include scholarships, loans, work-study, grants, etc. International students are also eligible for a few merit academic scholarships to finance their studies at UTM. 

These merit-based scholarships do not need a separate application. However, certain criteria need to be satisfied to be eligible for the applied scholarship which varies as per the scholarships. A minimum GPA of 3.00 must be maintained to be eligible for any of the scholarships offered by the institute and is a common eligibility criterion too.

Priority consideration is given to students who apply for admission by February 1. These merit-based scholarships are not available to students enrolled in online degree programs. 

A few of the merit-based scholarships include: 

  • Chancellor Scholarship- An award amount of 3,000 USD per year or 12,000 for four years is awarded. For the continuation of scholarship students need to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 GPA at the end of each spring semester and remain a full-time student. Out-of-state students also receive a waiver to cover out-of-state fees (additional estimated value USD 6,040 per year/USD 24,160 for four years).
  • Dean Scholarship- An award amount of 2,000 USD per year or 8,000 USD for four years is awarded. For continuation of this scholarship students need to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the end of each spring semester and remain a full-time student. Out-of-state students are also eligible for the scholarship depending on their GPA. 
  • Excellence Scholarship- An award amount of 1,000 USD per year or 4,000 USD for four years is awarded. For continuation of this scholarship students need to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the end of each spring semester and remain a full-time student. These scholarships are only for in-state students.
  • Outside Scholarships- International students can also look for outside international scholarships to study in the USA

UT MARTIN

I chose this college because they have a really good rodeo program! I was offered a scholarship to a rodeo here. Also, my stepdad (along with some of his really close friends) almost went to school here.


Course Curriculum - 

I really love the classes I take here. Very nice teachers so far. They really want you to do good in school. They have plenty of office hours you can go to, many different tutors you can choose from.
