    2020 admissions at New York University were extremely selective and saw an overall acceptance of 16.2%. It received over 79,000 applications for the undergraduate programs and admitted only a little over 12,000 out of which, eventually 5,752 students enrolled. The university has three-degree-granting campuses with the main campus in New York, the USA, and two others in Shanghai, and Abu Dhabi. The class of 2024 at New York University is a diverse class with students coming from 138 countries. It is also the university with the highest number of international students in the US. 

    The Middle 50% range of the recently admitted freshmen profile in 2020 looks something like this:

    New York University Admission Deadlines

    NYU accepts applications through the Common Application portal. The application process for universities in US are the same for domestic and international applicants. The admission officer personally reviews each application. The university informs the applicants about their application status within three weeks of application submission. It informs the students through email. Applicants can choose to apply for Early decision I-II or Regular Decision.

    New York University International Admissions

    The application process is the same for domestic and international applicants. International applicants must apply through the Common Application portal. Applicants must ensure that they use their name as mentioned on the passport or the birth certificate. The application deadline is the same for all students and applicants must submit the application and documents by the deadline.

    The application requirements are the same for international and domestic applicants except for some additional requirements.

    Visa Process for International Students

    NYU does not require any kind of certificate of finance to begin the student visa process for US. The Office of Global Services (OGS) handles all immigration-related matters. Applicants when get the official admission notice from NYU and get the ID number, fill up the I-20 or DS-2019 form online. During this COVID -19 situation, the OGS will mail digitally signed I-20 to the students’ NYU email account, while DS-2019 will be shipped via UPS. Candidates then pay the SEVIS-fees and complete the I-901 form. They must bring along the following documents with them during the visa interview:

    • Copy of passport
    • I-94
    • Acceptance letter
    • Documents of financial support
    • SEVIS fees receipt

    New York University Undergraduate Admission

    The undergraduate applicants can apply through the Common Application portal online. There are over 230 undergraduate programs offered at New York University. The application must be submitted by the deadlines along with the documents. In case the documents couldn’t be submitted along with the application, it could be sent through the post on the official address of the university. The freshman student must pay the application fees of 80 USD to complete the process.
