International students must start applying a year before the intake season as the process of admission may take a considerable amount of time. Time period between September and December is suitable for the students who want to apply for summer or fall season next year.

University of Central Florida (UCF) admissions are selective with an acceptance rate of 50%. Students with an average SAT score between 1150-1320 or an average ACT score of 24-29 have higher chances of getting admission in the university. The average GPA of the aspirants must be 3.0 or above.

Students who get admitted in the university are the ones who score in the top 24 percent of the SAT exam. The university accepts and attracts "A-" average high school students. Only 37% of those admitted choose to enroll in the school. Most incoming freshmen graduated in the top quarter of their high school class.

University of Central Florida English Language Institute

The English language institute of UCF provides intensive English language learning program for the students who require better proficiency or earn an undergraduate or graduate program. The class schedule is flexible according to the students’ eligibility.

Eligibility Criteria – High school completion and must be 16 years old.

Intensive English Program

For students who want to learn English.

Eligibility Criteria – High School completion and must be 16 years old.

The program provides 23 hours of instructions which includes 4 courses and 1 elective per week. There are altogether 10 levels where level 9 and 10 are the advanced levels. Students are free to choose the schedule for the completion of the program (level 8,9 and 10).

IEP UG Track

The IEP Undergraduate Track combines intensive English studies with undergraduate courses, providing access to the students who are planning to pursue a degree at UCF. Students can attend UG classes while fulfilling English language proficiency requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Secondary School credentials
  • SAT or ACT score (UCF SAT Code: 5233) or ACT (UCF ACT Code: 073).
  • If the GPA is 3.0 or higher, students are exempted from the test.
  • Students must achieve grade “B” or better for completion of the course at ELI.
  • With the successful completion of ELI UG Track (Grade “C” or better in all undergraduate courses, a “B” average in all ELI courses, and 12 semester hours earned) students are now eligible for undergraduate studies at the university.

Documents Required

  • A bachelor’s degree with GPA 3.0 on the scale of 4.0 or upper-division undergraduate student or a professional degree from regionally accredited United States institution or equivalent from a foreign institution.
  • If GRE/GMAT score is not required, then course by course evaluation is done where the student must have scored at least 3.0 GPA from United States (bachelor’s degree) or equivalent.
  • Minimum Requirements:

    • Official certificate of degree along with one official transcript. The documents must have an original seal or signature of the institution. No xerox copy is accepted.

    • The documents must be translated to English language.

Exemption from English Language Proficiency Tests

  • Student must belong to a country where English is the only official language.
  • A degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university.

  • Students must have completed Level 4 of UCF’s Intensive English Program with a grade “B” or better.

Note: Tests must be taken well before time as the process may take a long time for completion before finalizing admission.

UCF Transfer Students Admission

Students may apply through the official website of the university. The admissions are held on rolling basis. Therefore, students are advised to submit the application form as soon as possible.

  • Students must have scored at least 2.0 GPA to be eligible for admission.
  • They must have studied 2-years of one foreign language either in high school or college (8 semesters).

Admission Requirements

The requirements depend upon the number of transferable semester hours completed in the previous institutions:

Less than 30 transferable semester hours

  • Must have at least first-year students high school unit admission requirements.
  • Meet the minimum GPA, SAT or ACT score.
  • Good academic standing.

Between 30 to 60 transferable semester hours

  • Completion of at least one English composition course and Mathematics course (3 semester credit hours) (Grade “C” or better).
  • Have at least 2.0 GPA on the scale of 4.0.
  • Good academic standing.

More than 60 transferable semester hours

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • Completion of 2 college-level English composition courses with a grade of “C” or better.
  • Completion of 2 college-level Mathematics courses with a grade of “C” or better.
  • To be competent in a world language till second high school level or second elementary course at college level.
