University of Central Florida Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
UCF’s Career Services Center helps graduating students prepare for the US job market. STEM master’s graduates in Florida commonly enter starting roles between $75,000 and $95,000 per year (market median).
- Employment Outlook: UCF does not centrally publish an international-student placement rate; verify at UCF Career Services
- Median Starting Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 for MS STEM roles in Florida (market median; INR 71.9 to 91.0 lakh)
- Common Sectors: Aerospace, defence, software, healthcare, hospitality and film production
- Alumni Presence: UCF alumni work at Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Walt Disney World and Siemens (representative employers)
- STEM OPT: F-1 STEM graduates qualify for the 36-month OPT extension after the standard 12-month OPT period
Insider note: UCF’s location near the Space Coast and Orlando’s theme park economy gives strong openings in aerospace and hospitality. Indian graduates often find first roles in these two clusters.
University of Central Florida vs Peer Universities
UCF sits within Florida’s public research cluster and competes with in-state and out-of-state options serving Indian students. The comparison below focuses on total programme cost and post-study outcomes.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Acceptance Rate | Annual PG Fee (USD/INR) | Median Salary (USD/INR) | One-line Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Central Florida | 731-740 | 24% (intl) | $22,988 / INR 22.02 lakh | $75-95k / INR 71.9-91.0 lakh (market median) | US News Most Innovative #15; strong STEM OPT pipeline |

| Arizona State University | Verify | Verify | Verify at ASU | Market median | Innovation peer with a larger computer science cohort |
UCF stands out among Florida publics for its innovation ranking and lower tuition versus Gainesville rivals. STEM OPT eligibility across engineering and computer science makes long-term US career pathways more accessible.
Key insight: Comparing Florida public universities on tuition alone misses the ranking gap with University of Florida. Weigh tuition against research output and STEM funding availability per programme.
UCF fits Indian students who want a large US public research university with strong innovation credentials but manageable non-resident tuition. Total annual investment of approximately INR 22-25 lakh sits below most private US universities. Graduates in STEM disciplines typically recover this within a short career horizon.
Indian STEM graduates gain access to the federal OPT extension, giving several years of legal US work after graduation. UCF’s Indian Students Association and Orlando’s low cost help new arrivals settle quickly. Alumni pipelines into aerospace and software companies give strong first-job openings.
UCF is not the right fit for Indian applicants chasing elite MBA recruiting pipelines or top-tier consulting placement. Those goals point more clearly to University of Florida or comparable higher-ranked research universities. UCF also suits less well for graduate students who need full external funding to cover the tuition.
University of Central Florida FAQs
Ques. What language proficiency waivers does University of Central Florida offer Indian applicants?
Ans. Indian applicants who completed their bachelor’s degree at a recognised Indian university with English as the medium of instruction may qualify for a TOEFL or IELTS waiver at UCF. UCF Global reviews these on a case-by-case basis. Applicants typically submit a letter from their university certifying English-medium instruction. Confirm current waiver policy directly with UCF Global before applying.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at University of Central Florida?
Ques. What are the popular hostel and off-campus housing options near UCF?
Ans. UCF offers on-campus residence halls, though international demand often exceeds available beds during Fall semester. Applicants without collateral may need to explore non-collateral loan products or federal aid alternatives before finalising bank choice.
Ques. Does UCF offer joint or dual degree programmes for international students?
Ans. UCF runs several joint tracks at the graduate level including combined JD/MBA and accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s routes. Interdisciplinary MS options exist across engineering, business and education. Direct India-partnership dual degrees remain limited compared to some East Coast universities. Applicants should check the UCF College of Graduate Studies for the current list of dual-degree combinations by discipline.

Additional documents include admission letter and academic transcripts.

- Limited Parking: UCF's parking situation is often a source of frustration for students. The university's rapid growth has resulted in a shortage of parking spaces, leading to difficulties finding a spot, especially during peak hours. This inconvenience can cause stress and delays for students trying to get to class or campus activities.
- Lack of Campus Traditions: While UCF offers a vibrant campus environment, some students feel that the university lacks strong and established campus traditions. Compared to some older and more established institutions, UCF's relatively young age means that it may not have as many longstanding traditions and cultural events that students can participate in and feel connected to. This can lead to a sense of disconnect and a longing for more established university traditions.

- Location, ranking, course curriculum were the reasons why I chose University of Central Florida.
- The environment and inclusivity that they provide to the students by giving them the opportunity to express themselves by allowing them to participate in different ways. They also help by providing different resources.
Dislikes
- Nothing in particular to be honest, I think they are doing a great job of providing A one quality of education along with resources. I would say they can try and provide more resources for international students.

Overview
Only two hours away from home, has a good CSD program. I had to pay a little fee to apply here, but it wasn't a lot! I also applied USF and gained admission, but ultimately chose UCF! I am very happy with my decision, especially after being here for a year and a half! The CSD program has welcomed me and I feel confident in my ability to thrive here.
Fees
My program is like $330 per credit hour! I currently have the Florida Bright Futures Medallion Scholarship and that covers almost all of my tuition! Other than that, I went through the Florida foster care system and I got a voucher for free tuition until I am 28 that really helped me out. If I didn't have that, I wouldn't be here!
Overview
It wasn't too far from home but far enough and was not nearly expensive as a private school. The application fee was not bad and it was my top choice school so I was committed to getting in. I applied to five colleges and got into four. I was a straight-A student in high school but my SAT score was 1160.
Fees
Tuition is $212.28 per credit hour taken. I am not sure if there are any scholarships available for international applicants but I accepted a loan through the school over the summer. The loan was for six credit hours (two classes) and I also used it for my housing. I had a meal plan but was able to pay for that out of pocket.
