University of Central Florida Acceptance Rate 2027

UCF’s international acceptance rate stands at 24% for the 2025-26 cohort. This makes UCF selective but accessible for well-prepared Indian applicants.

The rate reflects a competitive but manageable admissions bar. Overall UCF undergraduate acceptance sits higher (verify current rate at UCF Institutional Research).

Reality check: A 24% international acceptance rate means over three-quarters of overseas applicants are turned away. Indian applicants with strong academics and clear career intent stand a stronger chance.

University of Central Florida Campus, Facilities and Student Life

UCF spans a 1,415-acre main campus in northeast Orlando plus multiple regional sites. The setting combines suburban calm with quick access to Orlando’s central business district. Read UCF student reviews from Indian graduates before finalising accommodation choices.

  • Location: Main campus lies 21 km northeast of downtown Orlando; a free shuttle links nearby student housing
  • Housing: On-campus housing is limited; most graduate students live in nearby off-campus apartments
  • Facilities: UCF Recreation and Wellness Center, John C. Hitt Library and modern STEM research labs
  • Indian Community: Active Indian Students Association hosts Diwali, Holi and Republic Day events on campus
  • Weather: Year-round warm subtropical climate; monsoon-style rain from June to September

University of Central Florida Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

UCF’s Career Services Center helps graduating students prepare for the US job market. STEM master’s graduates in Florida commonly enter starting roles between $75,000 and $95,000 per year (market median).

  • Employment Outlook: UCF does not centrally publish an international-student placement rate; verify at UCF Career Services
  • Median Starting Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 for MS STEM roles in Florida (market median; INR 71.9 to 91.0 lakh)
  • Common Sectors: Aerospace, defence, software, healthcare, hospitality and film production
  • Alumni Presence: UCF alumni work at Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Walt Disney World and Siemens (representative employers)
  • STEM OPT: F-1 STEM graduates qualify for the 36-month OPT extension after the standard 12-month OPT period

Insider note: UCF’s location near the Space Coast and Orlando’s theme park economy gives strong openings in aerospace and hospitality. Indian graduates often find first roles in these two clusters.

University of Central Florida vs Peer Universities

UCF sits within Florida’s public research cluster and competes with in-state and out-of-state options serving Indian students. The comparison below focuses on total programme cost and post-study outcomes.

UCF stands out among Florida publics for its innovation ranking and lower tuition versus Gainesville rivals. STEM OPT eligibility across engineering and computer science makes long-term US career pathways more accessible.

Key insight: Comparing Florida public universities on tuition alone misses the ranking gap with University of Florida. Weigh tuition against research output and STEM funding availability per programme.

UCF fits Indian students who want a large US public research university with strong innovation credentials but manageable non-resident tuition. Total annual investment of approximately INR 22-25 lakh sits below most private US universities. Graduates in STEM disciplines typically recover this within a short career horizon.

Indian STEM graduates gain access to the federal OPT extension, giving several years of legal US work after graduation. UCF’s Indian Students Association and Orlando’s low cost help new arrivals settle quickly. Alumni pipelines into aerospace and software companies give strong first-job openings.

UCF is not the right fit for Indian applicants chasing elite MBA recruiting pipelines or top-tier consulting placement. Those goals point more clearly to University of Florida or comparable higher-ranked research universities. UCF also suits less well for graduate students who need full external funding to cover the tuition.

University of Central Florida FAQs

Ques. What language proficiency waivers does University of Central Florida offer Indian applicants?

Ans. Indian applicants who completed their bachelor’s degree at a recognised Indian university with English as the medium of instruction may qualify for a TOEFL or IELTS waiver at UCF. UCF Global reviews these on a case-by-case basis. Applicants typically submit a letter from their university certifying English-medium instruction. Confirm current waiver policy directly with UCF Global before applying.

Ques. How does UCF handle SAT and GRE test requirements?

Ans. SAT is optional for UCF undergraduate applicants under the current test-optional policy. GRE requirements vary by graduate programme; many MS Engineering and MS Computer Science tracks now waive GRE for applicants with strong bachelor’s academics. Check each programme’s admission page since waiver rules change between admission cycles. Applicants should verify with UCF Graduate Studies before deciding not to take the test.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at University of Central Florida?

Ans. F-1 visa holders may work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during the academic year and 40 hours during breaks. On-campus roles at UCF include library assistantships, food service positions, gym staffing and departmental administrative work. Off-campus employment requires special authorisation from USCIS after the first academic year, usually through Curricular Practical Training tied to a course.

Ques. What are the popular hostel and off-campus housing options near UCF?

Ans. UCF offers on-campus residence halls, though international demand often exceeds available beds during Fall semester. Most Indian students live in off-campus apartments along Alafaya Trail and University Boulevard, near the main campus. Monthly rent for a shared bedroom typically runs from $500 to $800 based on distance and amenities. Some students split three or four bedroom units to lower monthly cost further.

Ques. How do Indian banks view University of Central Florida for education loans?

Ans. Major Indian banks including SBI, HDFC Credila, Avanse and ICICI Bank provide education loans for UCF-bound students. UCF’s US News national ranking and public research university status typically satisfy lender minimum-rank criteria. Loan amounts often cover tuition plus living costs up to INR 40 lakh. Applicants without collateral may need to explore non-collateral loan products or federal aid alternatives before finalising bank choice.

Ques. Does UCF offer joint or dual degree programmes for international students?

Ans. UCF runs several joint tracks at the graduate level including combined JD/MBA and accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s routes. Interdisciplinary MS options exist across engineering, business and education. Direct India-partnership dual degrees remain limited compared to some East Coast universities. Applicants should check the UCF College of Graduate Studies for the current list of dual-degree combinations by discipline.

Ques. What documents does University of Central Florida require for the F-1 student visa?

Ans. After admission, UCF issues an I-20 form once financial documents are verified. Indian applicants need bank statements showing at least one year of tuition plus living costs, a signed affidavit from any sponsor and a valid passport. The I-20 accompanies the DS-160 visa application, SEVIS fee receipt and appointment slip to the US consulate for the visa interview. Additional documents include admission letter and academic transcripts.

Ques. How large is the Indian student community on the UCF campus?

Ans. UCF hosts one of Florida’s largest Indian student populations across undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. The Indian Students Association organises cultural festivals including Diwali, Holi and Republic Day. Regional groups for Tamil, Telugu, Malayali and Bengali students also run smaller meet-ups. Faculty members of Indian origin work across the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the College of Business.

  • The campus is excellent when it comes to extra curricular activities. There's a good social life, lots of clubs to explore. The best part is that UCF gives free tickets to Universal Orlando theme parks every year to across 10000 students.

Fees

  • For our term, it's a total of 36K USD for the entire 2 year course. You can try for scholarships by applying to GRA positions but the chances of getting selected are pretty low.

Overview

I did not do interviews. Documents required were ACT/SAT scores. I had 3 LORs Good school, good program, great campus, great location, only 2 hours by car from my house Experience was amazing. The professors and heavy workload really helped me prepare for law school. I also learned how to think critically and write analytically

Many clubs and events were available since the school is very large. Their main objective with these various clubs are to help you get to know your classmates and make friends. Library is great and spacious although some students can get pretty loud. I’d recommend more study rooms. Wifi is not the best but it works most of the time. Sports facilities are amazing since football is important to the college

Overview

It's been a tremendous journey at UCF for me. I'm really grateful to have joined UCF for my Masters in Computer Science. My specialization is Data Analysis - for which I have good valuable subjects to choose from. The courses can be accessed on the internet directly. There's also a decent Indian community here which would have you involved for several cultural events during festivals or other occasions.

Campus is pretty spread and huge. There is a recreation center as well where one can play all kinds of sports and go gyming. Wifi is also available all over the campus for free. Most of the resources can be obtained from the digital section of the library in case needed.

Overview

My overall experience at UCF was great. UCF is a research university and hence has a rich variety of opportunities for students who want to excel in the field of Computer Science, especially in the field of Computer Vision. The main point of contact for Computer Vision candidates is Dr. Mubarak Shah.

Overview

Only two hours away from home, has a good CSD program. I had to pay a little fee to apply here, but it wasn't a lot! I also applied USF and gained admission, but ultimately chose UCF! I am very happy with my decision, especially after being here for a year and a half! The CSD program has welcomed me and I feel confident in my ability to thrive here.

Fees

My program is like $330 per credit hour! I currently have the Florida Bright Futures Medallion Scholarship and that covers almost all of my tuition! Other than that, I went through the Florida foster care system and I got a voucher for free tuition until I am 28 that really helped me out. If I didn't have that, I wouldn't be here!

Overview

It wasn't too far from home but far enough and was not nearly expensive as a private school. The application fee was not bad and it was my top choice school so I was committed to getting in. I applied to five colleges and got into four. I was a straight-A student in high school but my SAT score was 1160.

Fees

Tuition is $212.28 per credit hour taken. I am not sure if there are any scholarships available for international applicants but I accepted a loan through the school over the summer. The loan was for six credit hours (two classes) and I also used it for my housing. I had a meal plan but was able to pay for that out of pocket.

The minimum GPA requirement for graduate programs at UCF is 3.0/4.0 (83%-86%), and for undergraduate programs is a GPA of 4.32, So with a course weighted average (CWA) of 58.9 have very little or No chance of getting admitted.
