University of Central Florida Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
UCF publishes minimum test and academic thresholds for international applicants, with departmental floors often set higher than the university minimum.
Postgraduate Requirements at University of Central Florida
- Academic: Four-year bachelor’s with minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA, mapped to roughly 65% or CGPA 7.0/10 on the Indian scale (recommended); three-year Indian degrees need WES/ECE course-by-course evaluation
- English: IELTS 6.5 overall, TOEFL iBT 80, PTE Academic 53, or Duolingo English Test 115
- Credential verification: WES, ECE, or JS Exchange evaluation before offer confirmation
- Standardised tests: GRE required for select engineering and science tracks; GMAT required for the Professional MBA
Undergraduate Requirements at University of Central Florida
- Academic: Class 12 with 80% aggregate or CBSE/ICSE equivalent (recommended); engineering pathways expect PCM strength
- English: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80, PTE 53, or Duolingo 115; SAT/ACT is optional but strengthens the file
Key insight: UCF waives the English test if the applicant completed a fully English-medium degree from a recognised Indian institution and can produce a medium-of-instruction letter on university letterhead.
University of Central Florida Acceptance Rate 2027
UCF admitted 24% of international applicants in the 2025-26 cycle, sitting materially below the overall US National acceptance band of 40% and reflecting rising demand from South Asian STEM applicants.
| Year | International Acceptance Rate | Trend |
|---|---|---|
| 2025-26 | 24% | Selective |
| 2024-25 | 36% (estimated) | Tightening |
Overall UCF admission (domestic plus international combined) sits closer to 41%, but the international pool skews more selective because graduate departments cap intake per country. STEM master’s tracks such as computer science and data analytics are the most competitive.
Reality check: A 24% international rate means Indian applicants should treat UCF as a moderate-to-competitive target, pair it with two safety schools, and prioritise a strong SOP over a marginal test-score bump.

University of Central Florida Campus, Facilities and Student Life
UCF’s main campus spans 1,415 acres in northeast Orlando, adjacent to the Central Florida Research Park and about 55 miles from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
- Location and transport: Free UCF shuttles link academic buildings and off-campus student housing; Orlando International Airport is 30 minutes by car
- Housing: On-campus dorms cover roughly 15% of undergraduates; international students typically move off-campus after year one
- Research facilities: Institute for Simulation and Training, Florida Solar Energy Center, and CREOL optics and photonics college

Subject-level standing is stronger than the composite rank suggests. ARWU 2025 places UCF’s Hospitality and Tourism Management at #2 globally and Transportation Science at #19, and Collegedunia Study Abroad ranks UCF #15 for Most Innovative Universities among USA schools.
Key insight: Indian applicants targeting India Government Employment Notification 2020 recognition should note that UCF sits inside the QS top 1000 and U.S. News top 500 global lists, keeping it eligible for public-sector hiring bands back home.
University of Central Florida Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

University of Central Florida vs Peer Universities
Compared alongside other public US universities that Indian applicants shortlist, UCF is priced competitively and ranks similarly to regional public flagships, though it sits below the University of Florida on global tables.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad 2026 | Avg Annual PG Fee | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Central Florida | #731-740 | #254 | USD 25,759 (INR 22.7 lakh) | STEM OPT plus defence-simulation cluster |
| University of Florida | Top 200 (verify) | NA | USD 30,130 (INR 26.6 lakh) estimated | Higher research ranking; more selective |
| Florida State University | Verify at official page | NA | USD 25,000 (INR 22.1 lakh) estimated | Strong policy and public administration |
| Arizona State University | Top 250 (verify) | NA | USD 28,800 (INR 25.4 lakh) estimated | Large international cohort; online options |
| University of South Florida | Verify at official page | NA | USD 24,600 (INR 21.7 lakh) estimated | Marine biology and medical strength |
UCF’s edge is scale and industry proximity, with STEM master’s tracks feeding directly into Orlando’s aerospace, simulation, and hospitality employers. Its ARWU top-2 finish in Hospitality and Tourism Management is unmatched by the peer set above.
The University of Central Florida is a strong fit for Indian STEM applicants who want a large public US research university at a manageable price point, with total two-year MS investment around INR 63 lakh against a median first-year salary of INR 66.2 lakh through the OPT window into Florida’s defence and simulation employers.
It is a weaker fit for applicants targeting elite ivy-tier prestige, top-100 QS visibility, or funded PhDs at scale. Those profiles will find a closer match at the University of Florida or Georgia Tech, both of which rank materially higher on global tables and carry larger endowments for graduate funding.
University of Central Florida FAQs
Ques. What Fall 2027 application deadlines does UCF publish for Indian students?
Ans. UCF has not yet published Fall 2027 international deadlines, but based on the prior cycle the international freshman priority is expected around 1 May 2027 and the international transfer deadline around 1 July 2027. Graduate deadlines vary by department, with STEM master’s often closing between January and March 2027. Indian applicants should verify the exact date on the departmental website before submission.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at the University of Central Florida?
Ans. Yes, F-1 visa holders at UCF may work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during term and full-time during official breaks. Off-campus work needs Curricular Practical Training or Optional Practical Training authorisation through the UCF Global office. Typical on-campus roles include library assistant, dining services, and research or teaching assistantships, which pay USD 12 to 18 per hour.
Ques. Does the University of Central Florida waive the GRE for master’s applications?
Ans. GRE is waived for several UCF master’s programmes including some MS Computer Science and MS Data Analytics tracks, but engineering departments still request scores case by case. Applicants with strong Indian bachelor’s marks above 75% and relevant work experience often qualify for a waiver. The waiver decision is department-controlled, so Indian applicants should confirm with the graduate coordinator before submitting.
Ques. What application fee does UCF charge international applicants?
Ans. UCF charges USD 30 for undergraduate international applications and USD 31 for most graduate applications, payable online by credit card at submission. Some MBA and doctoral programmes carry higher fees between USD 50 and USD 75. Fee waivers are limited to applicants attending official UCF recruitment events in India or through specific partner programmes; general need-based waivers are not offered to international students.
Ques. Which Indian education loan lenders recognise UCF for financing?
Ans. UCF is in the approved list for most major Indian education lenders including SBI, HDFC Credila, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Avanse, and Auxilo, given its US News top-500 global ranking. Non-collateral loans up to INR 40 lakh and collateral loans up to INR 1.5 crore are typically available. Approval turnaround is 2 to 4 weeks after I-20 issuance, so Indian applicants should apply immediately post-admission.
Ques. How does UCF handle transcript verification for Indian degrees?
Ans. UCF requires Indian applicants to submit a course-by-course credential evaluation from WES, ECE, or JS Exchange for all post-secondary transcripts. Three-year bachelor’s degrees are usually accepted for PG admission if the WES evaluation confirms US bachelor’s equivalence. Sealed original transcripts must also be sent directly by the issuing institution. The evaluation process takes 4 to 8 weeks, so Indian applicants should initiate it well before their departmental deadline.
Ques. Does UCF issue conditional admission offers to Indian students?
Ans. Yes, UCF issues conditional offers primarily when the English test score falls just below the minimum or when the credential evaluation is still pending. Conditional admits typically require completing the UCF Global English pathway or achieving IELTS 6.5 before enrolment. Academic conditions such as a pending final semester result are also accepted with proof of expected graduation. The condition must be cleared before I-20 issuance and visa filing.
Ques. Does the University of Central Florida accept English-medium bachelor’s for the language waiver?
Ans. Yes, UCF waives the English proficiency test for Indian applicants who completed their entire bachelor’s degree in English at a UGC-recognised institution. The applicant must submit an official medium-of-instruction letter on university letterhead confirming English as the language of instruction and assessment. Applicants from autonomous private universities may face additional scrutiny; departments retain the right to request IELTS or TOEFL scores case by case.

Many clubs and events were available since the school is very large. Their main objective with these various clubs are to help you get to know your classmates and make friends. Library is great and spacious although some students can get pretty loud. I’d recommend more study rooms. Wifi is not the best but it works most of the time. It's been a tremendous journey at UCF for me. I'm really grateful to have joined UCF for my Masters in Computer Science. My specialization is Data Analysis - for which I have good valuable subjects to choose from. The courses can be accessed on the internet directly. There's also a decent Indian community here which would have you involved for several cultural events during festivals or other occasions.

Dislikes
- Large Class Sizes: One common complaint among students at UCF is the large class sizes, especially in introductory courses. With a large student population, some classes can be overcrowded, making it challenging for students to engage with professors and receive individualized attention. This can hinder the learning experience and lead to a sense of disconnection for some students.
- Limited Parking: UCF's parking situation is often a source of frustration for students. The university's rapid growth has resulted in a shortage of parking spaces, leading to difficulties finding a spot, especially during peak hours. This inconvenience can cause stress and delays for students trying to get to class or campus activities.
- Lack of Campus Traditions: While UCF offers a vibrant campus environment, some students feel that the university lacks strong and established campus traditions. Compared to some older and more established institutions, UCF's relatively young age means that it may not have as many longstanding traditions and cultural events that students can participate in and feel connected to. This can lead to a sense of disconnect and a longing for more established university traditions.

- Nothing in particular to be honest, I think they are doing a great job of providing A one quality of education along with resources. I would say they can try and provide more resources for international students.

Campus Life
They have best campus in Florida or maybe even in the US and they provide a lot of activities on campus like kayaking, tower climbing, challenge course, etc.
Overview
Only two hours away from home, has a good CSD program. I had to pay a little fee to apply here, but it wasn't a lot! I also applied USF and gained admission, but ultimately chose UCF! I am very happy with my decision, especially after being here for a year and a half! The CSD program has welcomed me and I feel confident in my ability to thrive here.
Fees
My program is like $330 per credit hour! I currently have the Florida Bright Futures Medallion Scholarship and that covers almost all of my tuition! Other than that, I went through the Florida foster care system and I got a voucher for free tuition until I am 28 that really helped me out. If I didn't have that, I wouldn't be here!
Overview
It wasn't too far from home but far enough and was not nearly expensive as a private school. The application fee was not bad and it was my top choice school so I was committed to getting in. I applied to five colleges and got into four. I was a straight-A student in high school but my SAT score was 1160.
Fees
Tuition is $212.28 per credit hour taken. I am not sure if there are any scholarships available for international applicants but I accepted a loan through the school over the summer. The loan was for six credit hours (two classes) and I also used it for my housing. I had a meal plan but was able to pay for that out of pocket.
