Stanford University Language Requirements

International students must demonstrate English language proficiency by providing scores of any one of the following tests given below, to be eligible for admissions at Stanford:

Stanford University International Undergraduate Admission

There are more than 65 major fields of study offered at Stanford, at the undergraduate level. The international students can apply through either of the two application portals.

Application Portal: Apply through either:

  • Common Application: Since evaluators or recommenders are familiar with the Common App, this is the reason why it is recommended to apply via Common Application. There may be Stanford specific questions to be answered by the applicants.
  • Coalition Application: The cloud called Locker helps the applicants in saving the necessary documents for reference or uploading. There are also evaluators who can help assess the applicant’s application. Hence, students can also apply through the Coalition Application.

Application Fee: 90 USD

Academic Requirements for International Students: Applicants must submit either ACT or SAT score along with the application. These scores are valid for a period of 5 years. The average scores required are:

  • SAT Scores: 1440 – 1560
  • ACT Scores: 32 – 35
  • (Percentage) Students submitting SAT Scores: 78%
  • (Percentage) Students submitting ACT Scores: 61%

Supporting Documents: Official mid-year transcripts, secondary school report, essays, grading/evaluation system, SOP and 2 LORs from teachers.

Stanford University International Graduate Admissions

At Stanford, there are 7 graduate schools that offer more than 150 courses. Each course has a different requirement and application process. Students are eligible for admissions if they hold a degree from Stanford/US/an equivalent US degree.

How to apply: There are different portals to apply for the desired course. The applications are filed through the respective school’s website.

When to apply: Deadlines also vary with each course. Students are admitted in Fall, Spring and Winter seasons.

Academic Requirements for International Students: GRE/GMAT/LSAT (valid for 3 to 5 years) and English language test scores like IELTS/TOEFL are required.

Supporting Documents: UG degree, official transcripts, translated transcripts if not in English, grading system, LORs, SOP, etc. are basic requirements for each course.

Interviews: May be conducted, depending upon the course requirements.

Stanford University MBA Admission Requirements

Application Portal: Graduate School of Stanford Business

Application Fee: 275 USD

Academic Requirements for International Students:GMAT/GRE, TOEFL/IELTS/PTE are the required scores.

Supporting Documents: UG and/or PG degree, business resume/CV, and official academic records from all institutions.

  • It is also recommended to have part-time or full-time work experience.
  • 2 LORs: one directly from a supervisor and another from someone who has supervised the applicant’s work.
  • There is also an interview on an invitation basis for applicants. The interview dates are as follows:
    • Round 1: Mid-October to late November
    • Round 2: Early February to mid-March
    • Round 3: Mid-April to early May

Stanford University LLM Admissions

Stanford University Offer Acceptance

In order to complete the admission process on selection at Stanford, the applicants

must ensure to check their mail regularly. On offer acceptance, there are a few visa requirements that have to be fulfilled. The following is a step by step procedure for J-1 or F-1 visa procurement.

  • The offer should be accepted online maximum by April 15, and submit an official and latest financial statement.
  • The international students must also submit the medical reports latest by July 31.
  • Stanford releases I-20/DS-2019 Forms, after which the applicants can apply for a visa and pay the SEVIS fee of 200 USD.
  • On payment of the SEVIS fee, the applicants must keep the I-901 receipt for future reference.
  • Finally, the DS-160 visa application form must be submitted, which is applicable only for immigrant applicants.
