Stony Brook, a highly selective university with an acceptance rate of 42% and offers admission to students based on their intellectual inquisitiveness and academic competency. There are no set norms or cutoffs to select the students based on their GPA, ranking or standardized test scores and applicants are evaluated individually.

For the Fall season of 2018, the average scores were recorded as:
