Fordham University Scholarships for UG Students
Indian undergraduate candidates at Fordham University compete for six named merit awards, all considered automatically at admission with no separate form.
| Scholarship | Award (USD / INR) | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fordham Presidential Scholarship | Full tuition + fees + room + meal plan (approx. $85,000 / INR 81.1 Lakhs) | Top 1 to 2 percent of high school class; roughly 10 recipients per year | Tentative January 1, 2027 (Regular Decision) |
| Fordham Scholarship | Full tuition (approx. $65,920 / INR 62.9 Lakhs) | Top 3 percent of admitted students; academics plus leadership | Same as admission deadline |
| Dean’s Scholarship | $25,000 (INR 23.9 Lakhs) minimum; higher with financial need | 3.75+ high school GPA and documented service or leadership | Same as admission deadline |
| Loyola Scholarship | $1,000 to $12,500 (INR 0.95 to 11.9 Lakhs) per year | Strong academic record; renewable for four years with 3.0 GPA | Auto-consideration with admission |
| Jogues Scholarship | $1,000 to $12,500 (INR 0.95 to 11.9 Lakhs) per year | Same academic band as Loyola; renewable at 3.0 GPA | Auto-consideration with admission |
| Fordham Theatre Scholarship | $7,000 to full tuition (INR 6.7 to 62.9 Lakhs) | Theatre program admits; audition required | Tentative February 1, 2027 (audition round) |
Indian applicants become eligible the moment Fordham reviews their Common Application; no supplemental essay is asked for the merit round.
The Dean’s Scholarship stacks with need-based aid drawn from the CSS Profile, which is how most Indian admits push the total waiver past 40 percent of sticker tuition.
Reddit Insight: Fordham applicants on r/ApplyingToCollege report the $12,500 international merit tier posts automatically for SAT 1400+ or equivalent 90 percent boards. Stacking the CSS Profile need award on top typically cuts annual cost 30 to 40 percent for Indian families under $60,000 documented income.

| Bennett Excellence Award | Partial to full tuition (up to INR 30+ Lakhs per year) | GSAS master’s admits with strong research fit | With admission; tentative January 15, 2027 |
| Fordham Law Dean’s Scholarship | Full tuition (approx. $70,000 / INR 66.8 Lakhs per year) | Top JD applicants by LSAT and undergrad GPA | Tentative March 1, 2027 |
| Graduate Teaching Associate | Per-course stipend + up to 3 credits tuition per semester (INR 5 to 7 Lakhs total) | Enrolled full-time; department-nominated | Program-specific rolling |
| Graduate Assistantship | Tuition remission approx. $7,019 (INR 6.7 Lakhs) + stipend | 9+ credits, 3.5+ undergrad GPA, 3.75+ grad GPA | Rolling; priority tentative April 1, 2027 |
The Gabelli Dean’s Premier ranks as the single richest PG award for Indian MBA candidates, adding a $20,000 living stipend to full tuition.
GSAS master’s aid arrives inside the offer packet, so Indian applicants should target the January priority window rather than the rolling summer round.

India-Specific Scholarships at Fordham University
Fordham University does not run any India-only named scholarship as of August 2026.
Indian applicants instead access three internationally-open Fordham awards that historically send the largest share of aid to South Asian admits.
| Scholarship | Award (USD / INR) | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fordham International Freshman Merit | $12,500 to $25,000 (INR 11.9 to 23.9 Lakhs) per year | International freshmen; must show ability to fund $35,000/year gap | Same as UG admission (tentative January 1, 2027) |
| Fordham International Need-Based Aid | Variable up to $30,000 (INR 28.6 Lakhs) per year | CSS Profile IM formula shows family contribution below $50,000 | Tentative February 1, 2027 (CSS Profile submission) |
| Fordham Global Scholars Program | Program stipend + travel support (approx. $10,000 / INR 9.5 Lakhs) | Enrolled Fordham students committing to international research | Tentative March 1, 2027 |
Indian applicants who file the CSS Profile early see the largest institutional aid uplifts, since Fordham runs the need review parallel to the merit review.
The International Freshman Merit stacks with the Dean’s Scholarship. Strong Indian admits can combine both awards up to a $37,500 (INR 35.8 Lakhs) yearly cap.
Fordham University PhD Scholarships
Fordham University funds every admitted PhD student in GSAS through one of two named entering fellowships plus a five-year package of tuition and stipend.
| Scholarship | Award (USD / INR) | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loyola Fellowship (Humanities PhD) | Full tuition + 5-year stipend (approx. $32,000 / INR 30.5 Lakhs per year) | Entering humanities doctoral students in GSAS | Tentative December 15, 2026 |
| University Fellowship (Non-Humanities PhD) | Full tuition + 5-year stipend (approx. $32,000 / INR 30.5 Lakhs per year) | Entering science and social science doctoral admits | Tentative December 15, 2026 |
| Alumni Dissertation Fellowship | Full stipend for one dissertation year | PhD students at dissertation stage; letters of recommendation | Tentative March 1, 2027 |
| Research Fellowship (Advanced) | Faculty-linked research support (approx. $8,000 / INR 7.6 Lakhs) | Advanced GSAS PhD students working on faculty projects | Rolling; twice yearly |
| Senior Teaching Fellowship | Continued teaching stipend on 1-1 course load | Post-coursework PhD candidates with strong teaching record | With annual reappointment |
| Graduate Support Grant (SSG) | Up to $2,500 (INR 2.4 Lakhs) per year | Merit-based; covers conferences, research, or dissertation costs | Rolling |
Indian PhD admits at GSAS receive the base fellowship inside the offer letter; no separate scholarship application is required.
Doctoral funding at Fordham University uses the union pay scale set by CWA Local 1104. Indian recipients receive the same stipend as US-domestic candidates.
External Government Scholarships for Fordham University Applicants
Indian citizens studying at Fordham University routinely stack six government or private-trust awards on top of institutional aid.
| Scholarship | Award (USD / INR) | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship | Full tuition + travel + living + health cover | Indian citizens, 3+ years work experience, 55%+ bachelor’s | Tentative May 14, 2027 (annual cycle) |
| Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarship | Up to $100,000 (INR 95.4 Lakhs) total | Indian citizens under 30; admitted to top overseas university | Tentative March 30, 2027 |
| JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship | INR 10 Lakhs gift + up to INR 1 Crore interest-free loan | Indian citizens, any subject, all overseas destinations | Tentative March 15, 2027 |
| KC Mahindra Scholarship for PG Studies Abroad | Up to INR 8 Lakhs total | Indian citizens with strong undergrad rank | Tentative March 31, 2027 |
| Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship | 50 percent grant + 50 percent loan | Indian citizens meeting need criteria; PG only | Rolling; tentative March 31, 2027 |
| Government of India National Overseas Scholarship | Full tuition + $15,400 (INR 14.7 Lakhs) annual maintenance | SC / ST / OBC / EWS Indian citizens | Tentative March 31, 2027 |
The Fulbright-Nehru remains the highest-prestige government route, but its work-experience requirement pushes it out of reach for direct-out-of-college Indian applicants.
Most Indian PG admits pair the JN Tata Loan Scholarship with the Gabelli Dean’s Scholarship to cover both tuition and NYC living costs.
- Presidential Scholarship plus Fulbright-Nehru: covers tuition, room, meal plan, airfare, living and health.
- Dean’s Scholarship plus JN Tata Loan: cuts tuition to zero and covers full NYC living cost.
- International Freshman Merit plus KC Mahindra: reduces year-one out-of-pocket by INR 20 to 25 Lakhs.
Reddit Insight: Indian JN Tata recipients on r/IndiansAbroad flag one gotcha: the endowment interview happens in Mumbai in April. Applicants must complete US visa steps before travelling, or the INR 10 Lakh gift portion is forfeited.
Fordham University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. What is the highest total scholarship stack an Indian student can receive at Fordham University?
Ans. An Indian admit can receive the Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition, fees, an on-campus double room and the average meal plan. Adding a Fulbright-Nehru fellowship layers airfare and health cover on top, pushing total support past $85,000 (INR 81.1 Lakhs) per year.
Ques. When should Indian applicants apply to secure Fordham University merit aid?
Ans. Submit the Common Application and CSS Profile by the Early Action deadline of tentative November 1, 2026 for the best merit consideration. Regular Decision closes tentative January 1, 2027; missing this loses eligibility for the Presidential and Fordham Scholarships.
Ques. Do Indian students apply separately for Fordham scholarships or are they automatic?
Ans. All six named UG merit awards run on auto-consideration once the Common Application arrives; no separate essay or form is asked. Need-based aid requires the CSS Profile Institutional Methodology submission, filed alongside the admission application.
Ques. What GPA and SAT score do Indian applicants need for the Fordham Dean’s Scholarship?
Ans. Fordham asks a 3.75+ high school GPA (or 90 percent Indian boards) plus documented service or leadership for the Dean’s tier. Applicants with SAT 1400+ or ACT 32+ post the strongest hit rate at the $25,000 baseline.
Ques. How competitive is the Fordham Presidential Scholarship for Indian applicants?
Ans. Extremely competitive. Fordham names about 10 Presidential Scholars each year from a large international pool. Indian admits typically need top-1-percent boards (98 percent CBSE or ISC), SAT 1500+ or ACT 34+, plus documented national-level achievements to reach the shortlist.
Ques. Do Fordham scholarships cover New York City living costs?
Ans. The Presidential and Fordham Theatre Full-Tuition Awards cover an on-campus double room plus the average meal plan, so residential Indian recipients pay no housing cost. Other awards cover tuition only, so recipients budget an additional $20,000 (INR 19.1 Lakhs) for off-campus Bronx or Manhattan rent.
Ques. Which Fordham scholarship is easiest to stack with the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship?
Ans. The Bennett Excellence Award for GSAS master’s admits stacks cleanly with the Fulbright-Nehru because Fordham treats external federal awards as first-dollar. Indian Fulbright recipients keep the full Bennett tuition award on top of the government package.

Scholarship
I received Dean’s Scholarship which is $20,000 for the entire 18 months course. There was no separate application for scholarship. The question for scholarship was usually asked in your main college application itself.
It was located in the heart of New York City, which means you can build more and better connections. Most of the big 4 headquarters are in NYC, which makes it very easier to network in those areas. I have an undergrad degree in Accounting and I wanted to up my skills in that field. Masters in Accounting seemed to be the perfect option for that.
Scholarship
Yes, I received a merit scholarship with my acceptance letter and a small amount of financial aid. I paired this with multiple outside scholarships I won on my own.
I wanted to be in the city and Fordham was in a fantastic spot with access to the theater which is what I ultimately want to work in. I knew I was above Fordham's average so I could get in. I had the application fee waived. I applied to 14 colleges and I got into 9 of them. I've maintained a high honors status throughout all my schooling. I loved the independence the Lincoln Center campus has while still maintaining a sense of community.
Great professors, great location near the city. Beautiful campus and is not too big of a school, less than 10,000 students. Also, the students are all very motivated and driven creating a hardworking environment.
