Fordham University admission requirements for Indian students cover academic transcripts, standardized tests, and English proficiency, with WES credential verification mandatory for Indian degrees.
Fordham University PG Admission Requirements 2027
- Academic Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree with 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 (recommended); Gabelli MS Finance and MBA prefer 65% or CGPA 6.5/10
- English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT, IELTS, or Duolingo accepted; verify score minimums at the Fordham International Students page

- Standardized Tests: GMAT or GRE for Gabelli MBA and MS Finance; waivers available for strong quantitative profiles with 3+ years work experience
Fordham University UG Admission Requirements 2027
- Academic Eligibility: Class 12 (CBSE, ICSE, or state board) with 75% to 90% (recommended), depending on programme
- English Proficiency: Required unless English was the medium of instruction throughout secondary school
- Standardized Tests: SAT and ACT are test-optional for Fall 2027 applicants
Key insight: Fordham University may waive the English proficiency test for Indian applicants whose Class 12 or bachelor’s degree was completed in English-medium, but a formal medium-of-instruction letter from the school or college must be uploaded with the application.
Fordham University Acceptance Rate 2027
Fordham University acceptance rate for undergraduate admissions is approximately 54% (estimated), placing it in the moderately selective band among US private research universities. The estimate reflects the most recent publicly reported first-year admissions cycle and is not disclosed for graduate programmes, which are assessed by individual schools.
Graduate acceptance varies significantly by school: Gabelli MBA and MS tracks are more selective, while GSAS humanities programmes admit a higher share of applicants. Fordham’s Jesuit mission and holistic review mean essays, extracurriculars, and demonstrated interest weigh alongside grades and test scores.
Reality check: The 54% headline number applies to first-year UG admits and understates Indian PG selectivity, where Gabelli MS Finance and MS Business Analytics cohorts typically admit fewer than one in three international applicants.

Fordham University vs Peer Universities
Fordham University is benchmarked against other US private universities with a Jesuit or Catholic mission and comparable Gabelli-tier business programmes; the comparison uses QS World 2027 and Collegedunia Study Abroad ranks alongside typical PG tuition.
| University | QS World 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad | Avg Annual PG Fee (USD / INR lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fordham University | #1001-1200 | #283 | 65,000 / 55.25 lakh (estimated) | Gabelli FT MBA ranked #76 in FT 2026 |

Fordham University stands out for Indian applicants because it pairs a top-100 FT-ranked MBA and a strong ARWU finance subject rank with more accessible admissions than NYU. The combined price plus opportunity of a Manhattan-adjacent campus makes it a repeat pick for Indian finance and analytics candidates.
Fordham University suits Indian students targeting a Wall Street or NYC media career, particularly for Gabelli’s STEM-designated MS Finance, MS Business Analytics, and MS Quantitative Finance tracks; typical two-year investment sits at INR 116 lakh against a post-MBA market median salary of INR 102 lakh, giving reasonable payback with the 24-month F-1 OPT extension.
It is not the right fit for Indian applicants targeting a low-cost STEM master’s or a research-heavy PhD in engineering, where public state flagships offer better ratios; a realistic named alternative is Rutgers University-New Brunswick for cost-conscious analytics candidates.
Fordham University FAQs
Ques. Which Fordham programmes carry STEM OPT eligibility for Indian students?
Ans. Fordham University STEM-designated master’s programmes eligible for the 24-month OPT extension include MS Quantitative Finance, MS Business Analytics, MS Global Finance, MS Applied Statistics, and MS Data Science. These are the tracks most Indian PG applicants target, since STEM designation allows a total of 36 months of post-completion work authorization in the US, which improves the H-1B lottery odds and payback timeline on tuition.
Ques. Does Fordham University accept Duolingo English Test scores from Indian applicants?
Ans. Yes, Fordham accepts the Duolingo English Test alongside TOEFL iBT and IELTS for both undergraduate and most graduate programmes. Indian applicants should verify the current minimum score at the Fordham International Students page before booking a test slot, since minimums differ by school (Gabelli, GSAS, Law). A medium-of-instruction letter from an English-medium school or college may allow a waiver in specific cases.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time on campus at Fordham University?
Ans. F-1 visa holders at Fordham University can work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during term and 40 hours during official breaks. Typical roles include library assistants, research aides, IT support, and campus dining, with hourly wages in New York City ranging from USD 16 to 22 (INR 1,360 to 1,870). Off-campus work needs Curricular Practical Training authorization tied to a for-credit internship.
Ques. Does Fordham University offer a GMAT waiver for the Gabelli MBA?
Ans. Fordham Gabelli offers GMAT and GRE waivers for the Full-Time MBA and specialized MS programmes based on a candidate’s professional experience, undergraduate GPA, and quantitative coursework. Indian applicants with 3+ years of full-time work experience, an engineering or commerce degree, and strong math grades are the typical profile that qualifies. Waiver requests are submitted through the Gabelli application portal and reviewed within 7-10 business days.
Ques. What financial documents does Fordham require from Indian applicants for the I-20?
Ans. Fordham University issues the I-20 after Indian applicants submit a Confidential Financial Statement, an original bank statement covering the first year’s cost of attendance (approximately USD 75,000 or INR 63.75 lakh), and an affidavit of support from the sponsor. Education loan sanction letters from Indian banks such as SBI, HDFC Credila, or Avanse are also accepted as proof of funds. Documents should be less than 6 months old at the time of submission.
Ques. Is there an application fee for Indian applicants to Fordham University?
Ans. Fordham University charges an application fee of USD 70 (INR 5,950) for undergraduate applicants and USD 70 to 130 (INR 5,950 to 11,050) for graduate programmes. Fee waivers are available for applicants demonstrating financial hardship, participants of certain access programmes, and MBA candidates who attend official Gabelli information sessions. The fee waiver request must be submitted before the application is finalized.
Ques. Which Indian banks offer education loans recognizing Fordham University?
Ans. Fordham University is on the approved list for education loans from SBI (Global Ed-Vantage), HDFC Credila, Avanse, InCred, Auxilo, Prodigy Finance, and MPower Financing. Collateral-based loans from public sector banks typically cover up to INR 1.5 crore at 9-10% interest, while non-collateral loans from Prodigy and MPower cover the tuition-only gap. Sanction timelines run 3 to 6 weeks and should start once the I-20 is issued.
Ques. How does Fordham handle transcript verification for Indian degrees?
Ans. Fordham University requires Indian applicants to submit a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation for bachelor’s and master’s transcripts. The process takes 7 to 20 business days after all documents reach WES and costs approximately USD 220 (INR 18,700). Applicants should send sealed transcripts directly from their Indian university or use the digital transcript service where available, since photocopies attested by the college are not accepted for the WES evaluation.

Overview
It was located in the heart of New York City, which means you can build more and better connections. Most of the big 4 headquarters are in NYC, which makes it very easier to network in those areas. I have an undergrad degree in Accounting and I wanted to up my skills in that field. Masters in Accounting seemed to be the perfect option for that.
Campus Life
The campus life is great. The infrastructure is very modern and suffices all the student needs of a great WiFi, library, canteen and open space! There are tons of extra curricular activities happening on campus. For every student’s interest there is a club to join. You’ll never fall short of that.
Overview
I wanted to be in the city and Fordham was in a fantastic spot with access to the theater which is what I ultimately want to work in. I knew I was above Fordham's average so I could get in. I had the application fee waived. I applied to 14 colleges and I got into 9 of them. I've maintained a high honors status throughout all my schooling. I loved the independence the Lincoln Center campus has while still maintaining a sense of community.
Fees
We have an initial $200 housing deposit fee and then fees for books, laundry, newspaper, facilities, meals, etc. my tuition is around $55,000 minus my $12,000 renewable merit Loyola Scholarship. I did not apply for a loan, I used outside aid and scholarships. There are scholarships for international students available and there are more scholarships available as you continue your schooling.
Overview
Great professors, great location near the city. Beautiful campus and is not too big of a school, less than 10,000 students. Also, the students are all very motivated and driven creating a hardworking environment.
Fees
Most everything is included in your tuition, although the tuition is extremely expensive compared to other schools.
