Harvard University Placements and Employment Rate 2025
Harvard’s school-level outcomes vary: the Kennedy School’s Class of 2025 had 84% of graduates settled by November 2025, including 79% employed, with an 86% knowledge rate. The Chan School of Public Health reported 90% of its Class of 2025 employed or continuing education within 12 months, while the Graduate School of Education reported 85% of its Class of 2024 employed by September 2024.
| Harvard school and cohort | Outcome measure and window | Rate | Base and knowledge rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chan School of Public Health, Class of 2025 | Employed or continuing education within 12 months | 90% | Survey from one month before to 12 months after graduation; knowledge rate not published |
| Kennedy School, Class of 2025 | Employed, settled by end of November 2025 | 79% | 604 graduates, 525 known, 86% knowledge rate, 67% response rate |
| Graduate School of Education, Class of 2024 | Employed, as of September 2024 | 85% | 739 graduates, 85% knowledge rate, surveyed up to four months after graduation |
| Law School, Class of 2025 | Bar-passage-required or JD advantage job, as of 16 March 2026 | 582 of 602 | ABA employment questionnaire, 1 graduate with unknown status |
- The windows differ, from four months at the Education School to twelve at the Chan School, so the rates are not directly comparable with each other.
- The Kennedy School figure counts 28% of graduates who returned to a pre-Harvard employer, which is common for its mid-career programmes.
- Harvard College and the engineering school publish no comparable first-destination rate on a public page.
Harvard Business School publishes its Class of 2025 employment data on an interactive recruiting page. Those figures could not be read for verification when this page was written, so no HBS number appears here.
Note: Each school runs its own survey with its own window and response base, and none of them separates international graduates from the whole class. Read every rate as a figure for all graduates of that school in that year.
Harvard University Average Salary After Graduation
Harvard’s Graduate School of Education reported median salaries for its Class of 2024 of USD 70,000 (INR 66.45 Lakhs) for EdM graduates and USD 79,500 (INR 75.47 Lakhs) for PhD graduates. At the Chan School, 72% of the Class of 2025 reported salaries above USD 70,000 (INR 66.45 Lakhs). The Kennedy School reports median salaries for smaller MPA sub-groups.
| Programme and cohort | Measure | Salary (USD) | Salary (INR) | Respondents |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EdM, Graduate School of Education, Class of 2024 | Median | USD 70,000 | INR 66.45 Lakhs | 180 |
| EdM, Graduate School of Education, Class of 2024 | Average | USD 79,469 | INR 75.44 Lakhs | 180 |
| PhD, Graduate School of Education, Class of 2024 | Median | USD 79,500 | INR 75.47 Lakhs | 15 |
| PhD, Graduate School of Education, Class of 2024 | Average | USD 103,967 | INR 98.70 Lakhs | 15 |

| MPA, Kennedy School, Class of 2025, nonprofit sector | Median | USD 146,500 | INR 1.39 Crore | 6 |
| MPA/ID, Kennedy School, Class of 2025, nonprofit sector | Median | USD 89,000 | INR 84.49 Lakhs | 3 |
- The EdM median rests on 180 responses, so it is the one Harvard salary figure with a usable sample.
- The Kennedy School medians come from three to six responses each, so a single graduate moves them by tens of thousands of dollars.
- The EdM range of USD 25,000 to USD 325,000 (INR 23.73 Lakhs to INR 3.09 Crore) shows why the median is the figure to plan on.
Note: Harvard publishes no salary for its engineering, computer science, data science or undergraduate graduates, and the Business School salary data was not readable for this page. A median quoted for a Harvard MS in Computer Science or Data Science has no official source.
Key Insight: The EdM median of USD 70,000 (INR 66.45 Lakhs) is the only Harvard master's median with a cohort year and a large sample. Any Harvard salary promise above that figure for a one-year master's should come with a source you can open.

Harvard University Placements by School and Course
Outcomes differ sharply by school. Law graduates went almost entirely into bar-passage-required roles, and Kennedy School graduates split between public, nonprofit and private employers. Education graduates went mostly into universities and schools, each on the cohort shown.
| School and programme (cohort) | Headline outcome | Largest destination | Second destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Law School, JD (Class of 2025) | 565 of 602 in bar-passage-required jobs | Law firms of 501 or more lawyers, 322 graduates | Federal clerkships, 100 graduates |
| Chan School of Public Health, all degrees (Class of 2025) | 90% employed or studying within 12 months | Hospitals and health care, 37% | For-profit employers, 22% |
| Kennedy School, MPP (Class of 2025) | 79% of all Kennedy graduates employed | Private sector, 39% | Public sector, 36% |
| Kennedy School, MPA/ID (Class of 2025) | 97% of students from outside the USA | Public sector and international organisations, 42% | Private sector, 42% |
| Graduate School of Education, EdM (Class of 2024) | 85% of all Education graduates employed | Higher education institutions, 27% | District and public schools, 13% |
| Engineering, Master's in Data Science (classes of 2019 to 2021) | Sector split only, no rate published | Technology, 51% | Finance, 14% |
- The Data Science row is the only engineering-school data Harvard publishes, and at more than three years old it is a pattern rather than a current rate.
- Kennedy School MPA/ID is the programme with the most international students, and 29% of its employed non-US graduates returned home.
- Law outcomes are measured ten months after graduation under American Bar Association rules, a stricter and more complete count than a voluntary survey.
Tip for Indian Students: Pick the school whose published data matches your goal. The Law School and Kennedy School give you audited or high-knowledge-rate figures. A Harvard engineering or data science master's offers employer names from 2019 to 2021 and no rate, so weigh that gap before comparing it with a programme that publishes one.

- India is the second-largest overseas destination for Education School graduates, which fits a cohort with many Indian teachers and education leaders.
- Staying in the USA past the OPT period depends on an employer entering the H-1B lottery, which no school figure can predict.

Harvard University Career Services for International Students
Career support at Harvard is run by each school. The Mignone Center for Career Success serves the College and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The Business, Law, Kennedy, Education and Public Health schools run their own offices. The Harvard International Office handles OPT and STEM OPT filings for all of them, and these are services, not outcomes.
- Each school office runs its own outcomes survey, which is why Harvard has no single first-destination rate.
- Many graduates applying 90 days before graduation receive their OPT work card around graduation, according to the International Office.
- F-1 students may work on campus up to 20 hours a week in term and full time in vacations without separate authorisation.

Post-Study Work After Harvard University for Indian Students
A Harvard graduate on an F-1 visa can work for 12 months on Optional Practical Training. A STEM-designated degree adds 24 months more, for 36 months in total. OPT needs no employer sponsorship, but the STEM extension requires an E-Verify registered employer and a Form I-983 training plan filed through the International Office.
- Unemployment is capped at 90 days during the first 12 months and at 150 days across OPT and STEM OPT combined.
- Work beyond OPT needs an H-1B visa, which an employer files through an annual lottery that no outcome figure can predict.
- Degrees in education, law, public policy and most public health programmes are not STEM-designated, so their graduates get the 12 months only.
That STEM rule matters more at Harvard than at an engineering school. The schools with the best published outcomes are the ones whose degrees do not qualify for the extension. Check the Department of Homeland Security STEM list for your exact programme code before enrolling.

Harvard’s placement data shows that 79%–90% of recent graduates in Law, Kennedy, Education and Public Health were employed or continuing their studies. The Education School’s EdM graduates reported a median salary of USD 70,000 (INR 66.45 Lakhs), based on 180 responses.
However, Harvard does not publish a single university-wide placement rate, Business School data was unavailable, and engineering outcomes cover 2019–2021. Before accepting an offer, check the latest school-specific survey and confirm whether your programme qualifies for the 36-month STEM OPT extension.

Placement
There are many career fairs and generally, Harvard grads are very employable, mainly from the university's name recognition. Engineering is a good field for jobs generally, although not many people are aware Harvard has an engineering program. Many people end up in finance and consulting, although a large portion often goes on to academia or technical jobs. The alumni network is expansive, and connections made at Harvard will help you get into the industry if you know the right people.
I decided to attend Harvard because I saw it as an opportunity for a new experience. I wanted to go abroad, and I wanted to attend a university with some renown and where I was sure I would be supported. Harvard does not require that you apply to a specific major: they let you in based on potential and then you choose what you want to do in your second year, and that appealed to me.
