University of Arkansas Fayetteville Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
The University of Arkansas requires Indian applicants to meet a common academic threshold plus a departmentally-defined English proficiency standard.
PG Admission Requirements
- Academic: 4-year Indian bachelor’s degree with minimum CGPA 3.0/4.0, calculated on the final 60 credit hours, which maps to roughly 60% or CGPA 6.5/10 on the Indian scale.
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT and IELTS accepted; graduate minimums vary by department, so verify at the official graduate admissions page. Common floors track the UARK undergraduate baseline of TOEFL iBT 79 (0-120 legacy scale) and IELTS 6.5.
- Standardized test: GRE or GMAT required by select departments (MBA typically GMAT 550+ or GRE equivalent); MS Computer Science and several engineering masters have waived GRE for well-qualified applicants.
- Credential verification: WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation strongly recommended; three letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose complete the file.
UG Admission Requirements
- Academic: Class 12 completion with a strong academic record (75% to 85% recommended) from a CBSE, ISC or state board; SAT or ACT required for scholarship consideration.
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 79 (0-120 legacy scale), IELTS 6.5, PTE Academic 58, or Duolingo English Test 110; IELTS General Training is not accepted.
- Conditional admission: Available via Spring International Language Center for applicants below the English minimums.
Key insight: The University of Arkansas will not accept an IELTS General Training or a home edition test taken more than 24 months before the intake; Indian applicants often lose an admission cycle to a stale score.
University of Arkansas Fayetteville Acceptance Rate 2027
The University of Arkansas Fayetteville publishes an overall acceptance rate of 78%, which places it among the more accessible public R1 universities in the United States. Graduate programme selectivity varies sharply by department, with MS Computer Science, MBA and doctoral tracks running noticeably tighter than the university-wide figure.
| Year | Acceptance Rate | Trend |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-27 | 78% | Stable |
| 2025-26 | 78% | Stable |
| 2024-25 | 77% | Slight rise |
The overall admit rate hides significant programme-level compression, with STEM masters admitting closer to 40% of Indian applicants who submit complete files.
Business and engineering programmes at the Walton College and College of Engineering weigh work experience, quantitative background and English scores more heavily than the campus average.
Reality check: A 78% overall rate is misleading for Indian graduate applicants targeting the MS Computer Science, MS Industrial Engineering and MBA; the real bar sits closer to 40% to 50% and hinges on GRE score, undergraduate CGPA and clarity of research fit.

University of Arkansas Fayetteville Campus, Facilities and Student Life
The University of Arkansas sits on a 512-acre residential campus in Fayetteville, a mid-size city of 100,000 in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas.
- Location and transport: Fayetteville is 20 minutes from Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), which has direct routes to major US hubs and a growing India-relevant connection through Chicago and Dallas.
- Housing: First-year students are guaranteed housing on campus; graduate students rely on off-campus apartments, with a 10-minute Razorback Transit shuttle circulating between residential clusters and academic buildings.
- Facilities: The Mullins Library, Champions Hall STEM building, John A. White Jr. Engineering Hall, and the Reynolds Razorback Stadium anchor the campus, alongside a dedicated Multicultural Center for international students.
- Indian community: The Indian Students Association hosts Diwali, Holi and Republic Day events, and Fayetteville has three Indian grocery stores plus temple facilities in Bentonville, 40 minutes north.
What Indian students say: The Walmart, JB Hunt and Tyson Foods presence in Bentonville creates a real internship pipeline for supply chain, data analytics and industrial engineering students. Winters are colder than most Indian applicants expect, and a car is close to essential after the first semester.

[Source: UARK Graduate Cost and Funding]
Planning note: Distinguished Doctoral and Doctoral Academy Fellowships state a US-citizen preference, so Indian doctoral applicants should treat the departmental 50% graduate assistantship as the realistic path to a full tuition waiver plus a monthly stipend of USD 1,969 to USD 2,351.

University of Arkansas Fayetteville Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Career outcomes at UARK are anchored by the Walton College MBA and the STEM masters, both of which benefit from the concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in northwest Arkansas.
- Walton MBA median starting salary: USD 85,000 (INR 81.0 lakh), market median
- MS Computer Science and MS Industrial Engineering median: USD 75,000 to USD 90,000 (INR 71.5 to 85.8 lakh), market median
- Top recruiter cluster: Walmart, JB Hunt, Tyson Foods, Sam’s Club, Deloitte, PwC, Accenture, Cargill and Northwest Arkansas health systems
- Career support: Dedicated Walton Career Services team plus the campus-wide Career Development Center; on-campus recruiting runs September through November for Spring MBA and MS graduates
- Post-study work: F-1 STEM graduates qualify for 12 months of OPT plus a 24-month extension, taking the total US employment window to 36 months
Insider note: The Walmart supply chain leadership programme and the JB Hunt Transportation Institute both hire Indian graduates directly from Walton and the College of Engineering each year, and Bentonville sits 40 minutes from campus.
University of Arkansas Fayetteville vs Peer Universities
UARK competes with other US public R1 universities in the Southeastern Conference and neighbouring states, particularly for Indian applicants who prioritise cost and OPT viability over ranking prestige.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad 2026 | Avg Annual PG Fee (USD / INR lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Arkansas Fayetteville | #1201-1400 | #346 | 30,906 / 29.5 lakh | Walmart, JB Hunt and Tyson Foods pipeline |
| University of Alabama | #1001-1200 | NA | 34,500 / 32.9 lakh | Larger campus, stronger MBA brand |
| Louisiana State University | #801-1000 | NA | 32,600 / 31.1 lakh | Broader engineering research portfolio |
| University of Kansas | #801-1000 | NA | 33,900 / 32.3 lakh | Higher THE rank, stronger medical school |
| Oklahoma State University | #1001-1200 | NA | 27,800 / 26.5 lakh | Lower tuition, agriculture-heavy programmes |
UARK stands out for its below-median non-resident tuition inside the SEC group, an unusually high 78% acceptance rate for a public R1, and Walton’s proximity to Walmart’s headquarters, which effectively converts the campus into a supply-chain and retail-analytics hiring channel.
The University of Arkansas Fayetteville is a fit for Indian applicants who want an affordable public R1 pathway with STEM OPT and a real corporate pipeline into Walmart, JB Hunt and Tyson, at a total investment of INR 53.4 lakh against a median masters starting salary near INR 81 lakh. The Walton MBA and the STEM masters at the College of Engineering carry the strongest India-specific ROI, and the F-1 to STEM OPT to H-1B pathway remains intact for graduates who study in USA.
UARK is not the right pick for applicants targeting a top-100 QS brand or coastal city exposure. Those applicants should consider MBA in USA options in Texas, California or the Northeast instead, or scope alternatives from the wider list of universities in USA.

The waiver decision rests with the graduate coordinator and is confirmed after transcript review.
Ques. What is the UARK graduate application fee for Indian applicants?
Ans. The graduate application fee for international applicants is USD 75, which is roughly INR 7,150 at the August 2026 exchange rate. Undergraduate international applicants pay USD 65. The fee is non-refundable and must be paid by credit card at submission. Fee waivers are extremely limited and generally reserved for university-partnered programmes and specific graduate recruitment events.
Ques. Which Indian banks recognise UARK for education loans?
Ans. State Bank of India, HDFC Credila, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank and Avanse extend education loans of up to INR 1.5 crore to admitted UARK students, backed by the university’s Carnegie R1 classification and stable QS ranking. Ques. How much financial proof does a UARK I-20 require for Indian applicants?
Ans. UARK’s I-20 issuance requires bank statements or a sponsor affidavit showing liquid funds equal to the first year cost of attendance, which is USD 56,036 (INR 53.4 lakh) for graduate applicants and USD 56,256 for undergraduates. Business graduate applicants must show USD 70,466. The funds must be in savings, fixed deposits, or approved education loan sanction letters dated within six months of I-20 issuance.
Ques. Does the University of Arkansas allow dependents on F-2 visas?
Ans. Yes. F-1 students at UARK can bring a spouse and unmarried children under 21 on F-2 dependent visas after providing additional financial documentation, roughly USD 5,000 per dependent per year on top of the primary applicant’s cost of attendance. F-2 spouses cannot legally work in the US but can enrol in part-time academic study; F-2 children can attend K-12 schools in Fayetteville free of cost.
Ques. How long is Optional Practical Training after a UARK STEM masters?
Ans. STEM masters graduates from UARK, including MS Computer Science, MS Industrial Engineering, MS Statistics and Analytics and MS Chemical Engineering, qualify for 12 months of standard Optional Practical Training plus a 24-month STEM extension. This gives Indian graduates a total 36-month US work window, during which employers can file H-1B petitions across three lottery cycles. Non-STEM MBA graduates receive the standard 12-month OPT only.

Overview
I was the recipient of the Honors College Fellowship and the Governor's Distinguished Scholarship. Together, the awards amounted to a full-ride scholarship that I did not receive from any of the colleges that I applied to.
Fees
I honestly don't know how many fees we have. I know that there is a library fee, a health center fee, a gym fee, and a new student fee. You can also choose to pay for dining dollars and Razorbacks.
