University of Florida admissions run on a Fall-primary cycle: freshmen need strong Class XII performance with an SAT or ACT score, while master’s applicants need a four-year Bachelor’s at 75% or higher (US 3.0 GPA) in the last 60 credit hours plus a verified English test score.
- Next live deadline: Early Action for the Fall 2027 primary intake closes on 1 November 2026 for freshmen.
- Eligibility floor (recommended): UG needs around 80% in Class XII plus SAT, ACT; PG needs a four-year Bachelor’s at 3.0 GPA plus IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 80.
- Acceptance rate: UF admitted about 20% of applicants for the Class of 2029, making it one of the most selective US public flagships.
Popular programs at the University of Florida include the Warrington Full-Time MBA, MS in Computer Science and BS in Business Administration, and Indian students frequently cite strong industry ties, dense Gator alumni networks in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and Gainesville’s affordable off-campus rent as decisive positives.

University of Florida MBA Admissions and Rounds
UF’s Warrington College of Business runs a Full-Time MBA (22 months, on-campus in Gainesville) alongside professional MBA formats aimed at working US residents. For Indian students, the Full-Time MBA is the primary pathway since the professional formats are structured for domestic candidates.
University of Florida MBA Deadlines and Test Policy
The Full-Time MBA runs three rounds for the Fall 2027 cohort: Round 1 on 15 October 2026, Round 2 on 15 January 2027, and Round 3 on 15 May 2027. GMAT is preferred, and GRE is accepted.
University of Florida Application Process Step-by-Step
Freshman and graduate applicants use different portals, but the sequencing is similar. All Indian applicants should budget four to six weeks to gather transcripts, request English test scores, and prepare essays.
- Pick your intake and window. Fall 2027 is the primary intake; Early Action gets you a January decision, and Regular Decision extends to 15 January 2027.
- Create your account. Freshmen use the Gator Portal at undergrad.admissions.ufl.edu; grad applicants use CollegeNET.
- Complete the biographical and academic sections. Freshmen submit an SSAR with Class IX to XII grades; grad applicants upload unofficial scanned transcripts with seals and signatures.
- Register and send test scores. SAT code 5812, ACT code 0758, TOEFL code 5812; IELTS is sent through the E-delivery service.
- Upload essays and recommenders. Freshmen submit three short essays and no recommendations; master’s applicants upload a CV, statement of purpose, and typically three recommendation contacts.
- Pay the application fee of USD 30 (around ₹2,863) on the UF application portal and hit submit.
- Track status. Log back into the same portal weekly to check for document-received flags and interview requests.
University of Florida Admission Decisions and Offer Letters
Freshman decisions are released on fixed calendar dates, while graduate decisions arrive on a rolling basis once the department shortlist is complete.
- Early Decision freshmen: Decision by 11 December 2026; binding — accept by 8 January 2027 with a USD 200 (around ₹19,088) enrollment deposit.
- Early Action freshmen: Decision by 22 January 2027; non-binding — confirm by 1 May 2027.
- Regular Decision freshmen: Decision by 19 March 2027; confirm by 1 May 2027.
- Master’s applicants: Decisions arrive four to eight weeks after the department deadline; accept by the offer letter’s stated date, usually 15 April 2027.
- Deferral policy: Freshmen may request a one-term deferral through the Office of Admissions with a written reason; graduate deferrals are department-controlled.
University of Florida Documents Required for International Students
Documents are uploaded to the same portal used for the application. Keep every certificate signed, sealed, and scanned in colour before starting, per the UF Graduate Catalog.
- Passport bio page valid at least six months past the intake month.
- Class X and Class XII mark sheets with a certified English translation if the original is in a regional language.
- Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate for graduate applicants — every semester, sealed and signed by the registrar.
- Statement of Purpose tailored to the program (600 to 1,000 words for master’s; longer for PhD).
- Letters of recommendation: Two to three, typically from academic referees for master’s and mixed academic-professional for MBA.
- CV or résumé with education, work experience, publications and extracurriculars.
- English test score report sent electronically by ETS (TOEFL) or IELTS E-delivery.
- SAT, ACT or CLT report for freshman applicants only.
- Financial documentation: Bank statements or affidavit of support covering the first year’s tuition plus living costs — required after admission to trigger the I-20.
- Passport-style digital photograph for the I-20 record.
University of Florida Acceptance Rate for Indian Applicants
UF’s undergraduate acceptance rate for the Class of 2029 was around 20%, with 18,169 admits from 91,896 applications, a level that has tightened sharply from around 30% five years ago. This puts UF among the more selective US public flagships in Florida.
University of Florida Admit Profile for Freshmen
Admitted freshmen typically show a mid-90s weighted GPA on a US 4.0 scale, an SAT range of roughly 1330 to 1470, and an ACT range of 30 to 34. For Indian applicants, that maps to top-15% Class XII performance from a CBSE, ISC or state board with strong Maths and English scores. UF also holds a strong ranking band in Business, Engineering and Agriculture.
University of Florida Master’s Selectivity
Graduate acceptance is set by the department; Warrington business master’s programs and Wertheim engineering master’s programs typically admit 15 to 30% of applicants. Fit with faculty research, quantified work outcomes, and a program-specific SOP move the needle far more at PG level than raw test scores.
Insider note: UF’s Common Data Set treats yield seriously, so applying Early Decision if UF is your first choice signals commitment and can lift your chances at the margin — but only apply ED if you are ready to withdraw applications elsewhere on admission.
University of Florida is a competitive Fall-primary public flagship where Indian students clear a 3.0 GPA plus IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80 floor, pay a USD 30 (around ₹2,863) application fee, and land offers on a rolling department schedule for grad and fixed release dates for freshmen. Plan around the 1 November 2026 Early Action deadline for the strongest read.

- Cheap tuition, so many perks like free buses in the whole town, lots of other amenities and services.
- But they were constantly trying to improve the courses and selection system.

- The few things l didn’t like was that sometimes, getting the course you liked was hard
- Like one course is there in fall 2022, and it just disappears for 1-2 years, so you can’t take it.

- Yes every Graduate student gets TA or RA assistantship. That's worth $27500 per year. And also your $30000 tuition fees is also waived. We only have to pay that student fees of $1400.
- But you have to maintain a GPA of 3.25 to get this scholarship.
- Other than this there also some fellowship but only few students get those.
- For masters student and ug students there is also some scholarships which will be around $20000 but for that you need to have good GPA. And there are also part time jobs available for the students.

Overview
It’s ranking and opportunities, as well as affordability and location I would say academically I haven’t done as well as I’ve hoped, but my GPA and grades are still decent. The social scene is an 8.5/10, as I’ve made lots of friends and have good involvement outside of class.
Scholarship
Bright futures, based on tuition and $1,000 from Brandon Regional Hospital.
Overview
The University of Florida is a good example of an educational hub. It has a nice weather and a good city atmosphere.

- Lets start with the cost of tution. It is one of the most budget college you will ever get in US. The cost of living is also very cheap if you opt for off campus housing. They have really good sports complexes to play and and many communities like chess etc. You can opt for any services for free like Yoga, Dance, or any other instructor based service.
- As mentioned before it is cost effective, weather is good, and the ranking is top 50 in CS.
Dislikes
- Its a common issue among all the colleges and universities in the USA, that there is no placement cell as we find in Indian colleges, hence students have to grind for jobs on their own. Apart from that there is not much to dislike about.
Overview
Its a good experience as long as you take benefit of the services offered to you as a student. If you are paying such hefty amount make sure you extract every dollar out of it by honestly studying and making the best out of it.
Scholarship

- "As I took a step forward in my career trajectory, I was passionate about VLSI. Through my course curriculum, online certifications, and practical experiences, I have learned that digital VLSI design is my future. I wanted to undertook research in this area and contribute to the sphere of innovation. However, to have my aspirations take flight, my existing knowledge needed a boost. For the same, I found a masters program in computer engineering to be aligning ideally with my interests. Housed by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of University of Florida, this program focuses on the design, analysis, and application of computers and their components. Amalgamating theory and practice, this program offers a comprehensive understanding of VLSI design, which proved to be instrumental in paving a sound career path . Having gone through the university profile, I wished to pursue my interest on VLSI design which aligns well with the goal of the master’s program. I was certain that attaining learning under such a stellar faculty will not to be insightful but will also prepare me for my future endeavors."

- There are few things which i personally did not like about this university. Firstly, It is the location where the university is situated i.e gainesville area. There is not much to do here in gainesville apart from the university area so sometimes it becomes monotonous to be there. Also, the food, specially the indian cuisine is a bit expensive there as compared to other states. Secondly, the weather conditions are extreme mainly during summer its unbearable. Thirdly, i did not like the grading system at UF.
Overview
My overall experience at UF was good. It was a great opportunity to pursue my master's program abroad as it not only helped me in gaining academics knowledge but also to understand and interact with people from different places and background.
Scholarship
Yes, I attained a scholarship for having commendable record at my undergrad university in ECE stream. They provided a scholarship of 4500$. There was no separate form for that.
Overview
I was quite sure about the features I wanted in the program I wanted to apply for. The University of Florida piqued my interest because it had excellent research work being conducted in the field I was most interested in. It is of course a prestigious university while still being economic. It has very good connections with NASA as well which provides exceptional work and internship opportunities to students.
Scholarship
Yes, I received the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Achievement Award Scholarship for ONCAMPUS, NON-FLORIDA RESIDENT New Engineering Graduate Students.
Overview
Low tuition among universities with the same level of research and high reputation. I wanted to get into this university for more exposure and better facilities.
Scholarship
No, I didn't receive any scholarship.
