University of Florida Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
The University of Florida career outcomes data shows strong industry placement across engineering, business, and computing tracks. The Warrington Career Services and the Herbert Wertheim engineering placement cell run separate recruiting cycles.
- Employment within 6 months: 92% for master’s graduates (officially disclosed by Warrington and Herbert Wertheim)
- Median starting salary (MS): $78,000 (₹74.45 Lakh) — market median for STEM master’s
- Median post-MBA salary: $118,000 (₹112.63 Lakh) at Warrington
- Top recruiter sectors: Technology, aerospace and defence, banking, consulting, healthcare
- Career support: OPT and STEM OPT advising, on-campus recruiting, alumni network of 470,000 Gators
Insider note: Indian STEM master’s graduates cluster at Amazon, Google, Nvidia, Intel, Lockheed Martin, and JPMorgan for OPT roles. The 36-month STEM OPT window aligns well with H-1B lottery cycles.
The University of Florida is the right choice for Indian applicants seeking a top-50 US public flagship with STEM-designated majors, low Gainesville living costs, and clear pathways to study in the USA under the STEM OPT extension. The total two-year MS investment of ₹75 Lakh to ₹80 Lakh is recovered within 12 to 15 months at the $78,000 median starting salary.
It is less suited for candidates who need immediate large-metro recruiting access, prefer Ivy-tier branding for consulting placements, or want a Spring intake for master’s programmes. Purdue University offers a closer profile match if metro rent tolerance is low.
University of Florida FAQs
Ques. What English-taught master’s programmes does University of Florida offer online?
Ans. UF Online delivers over 25 fully online master’s degrees, including MS Management, MS Applied Data Science, MS Entrepreneurship, and Master of Sport Management. Indian students can enrol without a US visa for these online tracks, though online enrolment does not qualify for STEM OPT because there is no F-1 status. On-campus master’s remain the route to work authorisation and the STEM OPT extension.
Ques. Can UF students work part-time on-campus during their programme?
Ans. F-1 international students at the University of Florida can work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during the academic term and full-time during scheduled breaks. Typical roles include library assistants, research aides, dining services, and departmental graders. On-campus wages range from $12 to $18 per hour. No separate work authorisation is required during the first year.
Ques. Does UF waive the GRE for master’s engineering programmes?
Ans. The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering waives the GRE for MS applicants with a bachelor’s from a recognised institution and a cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher, which maps to roughly 80% or CGPA 8.0/10 for Indian applicants. Warrington College of Business retains a hard GMAT or GRE requirement for the MBA and MSF tracks.
Ques. Are interviews required for University of Florida master’s admission?
Ans. Most engineering and computer science master’s tracks at UF do not require interviews for Indian applicants. Warrington MBA and MS Finance conduct short 20-minute video interviews after the application review. PhD applicants across every college face a departmental interview with the prospective advisor, usually scheduled between January and February.
Ques. What is the application fee for the University of Florida and can it be waived?
Ans. The University of Florida application fee is $30 for undergraduate applicants and $30 for most graduate departments. Warrington MBA charges $30 to $150 depending on the round. Fee waivers are available for applicants with demonstrated financial hardship, but international applicants rarely qualify. UF does not offer blanket fee waivers to Indian students.
Ques. Does the University of Florida accept 3-year Indian bachelor’s degrees for master’s admission?
Ans. Yes, UF accepts three-year Indian bachelor’s degrees for master’s admission when accompanied by a WES course-by-course evaluation confirming US-equivalent bachelor’s status. Some engineering departments prefer four-year BE or BTech degrees. Three-year BSc, BCom, and BA applicants should submit the WES report early to confirm departmental eligibility before paying the application fee.
Ques. How long does OPT last for UF international graduates?
Ans. Standard OPT after University of Florida graduation runs 12 months. Graduates of STEM-designated majors, which include all engineering master’s, MS Computer Science, MS Data Science, and MS Business Analytics, qualify for an additional 24-month STEM OPT extension, bringing total work authorisation to 36 months. Warrington MBA and MS Finance are not STEM-designated.

Overview
It’s ranking and opportunities, as well as affordability and location I would say academically I haven’t done as well as I’ve hoped, but my GPA and grades are still decent. The social scene is an 8.5/10, as I’ve made lots of friends and have good involvement outside of class.
Campus Life
Lots of events and organizations to join and really involve yourself in.

The University of Florida is a good example of an educational hub. It has a nice weather and a good city atmosphere.
Campus Life
There are some great resources on campus like libraries, gym, eating places, food courts and sports events. However, the food science department itself doesn’t have much students resources, graduate student office or work computers, and break room. Gainesville is affordable compared to other cities in Florida. There are on campus and off campus housing. Also, shared dorms for undergrads.

- Lets start with the cost of tution. It is one of the most budget college you will ever get in US. The cost of living is also very cheap if you opt for off campus housing. They have really good sports complexes to play and and many communities like chess etc. You can opt for any services for free like Yoga, Dance, or any other instructor based service.
- As mentioned before it is cost effective, weather is good, and the ranking is top 50 in CS.
Dislikes
- Its a common issue among all the colleges and universities in the USA, that there is no placement cell as we find in Indian colleges, hence students have to grind for jobs on their own. Apart from that there is not much to dislike about.
Overview
Its a good experience as long as you take benefit of the services offered to you as a student. If you are paying such hefty amount make sure you extract every dollar out of it by honestly studying and making the best out of it.
Campus Life
There are many clubs to join, like SE club, chess clubs, Computer networking club, ACM club, mainly all are from discord, so you need to check your discord feature where it advertises clubs around you based on the location. There is access to research websites especially for CS students, you can approach the faculty to know how to access them using your college credentials. Its pretty much straight forward, you just need to be on college VPN and go to ACM or any other research paper based website where you need the papers. They have vast libraries and they have a special floor for graduate students as well. You can even book conference rooms and there are plenty of it. Keep an eye out during exam time, they fill up really quickly. Its good for group studies. They have 2 sports complexes, one is pretty large with Lawn tennis, Basketball, Squash, Volleyball etc. All apartments will happen to have a swimming pool of their own and college also does have it. WIFI is as fast as it can get, free to access for anyone.

- "As I took a step forward in my career trajectory, I was passionate about VLSI. Through my course curriculum, online certifications, and practical experiences, I have learned that digital VLSI design is my future. I wanted to undertook research in this area and contribute to the sphere of innovation. However, to have my aspirations take flight, my existing knowledge needed a boost. For the same, I found a masters program in computer engineering to be aligning ideally with my interests. Housed by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of University of Florida, this program focuses on the design, analysis, and application of computers and their components. Amalgamating theory and practice, this program offers a comprehensive understanding of VLSI design, which proved to be instrumental in paving a sound career path . Having gone through the university profile, I wished to pursue my interest on VLSI design which aligns well with the goal of the master’s program. I was certain that attaining learning under such a stellar faculty will not to be insightful but will also prepare me for my future endeavors."

- There are few things which i personally did not like about this university. Firstly, It is the location where the university is situated i.e gainesville area. There is not much to do here in gainesville apart from the university area so sometimes it becomes monotonous to be there. Also, the food, specially the indian cuisine is a bit expensive there as compared to other states. Secondly, the weather conditions are extreme mainly during summer its unbearable. Thirdly, i did not like the grading system at UF.
Overview
My overall experience at UF was good. It was a great opportunity to pursue my master's program abroad as it not only helped me in gaining academics knowledge but also to understand and interact with people from different places and background.
Campus Life
Campus life is great. There are a lot of stuff to participate in at UF apart from academics section like dance classes, sports activities, cultural events, on campus part time jobs, etc.
Overview
I was quite sure about the features I wanted in the program I wanted to apply for. The University of Florida piqued my interest because it had excellent research work being conducted in the field I was most interested in. It is of course a prestigious university while still being economic. It has very good connections with NASA as well which provides exceptional work and internship opportunities to students.
Fees
The tuition fees actually vary as per the student's scholarship and stipend details. However, if there is absolutely no scholarship, the tuition fees would be around $11025 per semester, considering 9 credit hours.
Overview
Low tuition among universities with the same level of research and high reputation. I wanted to get into this university for more exposure and better facilities.
Fees
$30138 is the program fee.
