Planning note: Push your NACES or AICE evaluation and English-test score to Marshall by mid-April for a Fall intake — that gives room for I-20 issuance and a US visa slot in India during the peak May and June window.

• Program-specific floors: MS Computer Science asks for a bachelor’s in CS, IT, EE or software engineering with a GPA of 2.75+; unrelated bachelor’s applicants can enter through three bridge courses (Data Structures, Database Engineering, Applied Probability/Statistics) at grade B or above.

Marshall English Language Requirements

Marshall IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Marshall does not list India among the countries whose secondary curriculum counts as English-medium for the direct waiver — so an Indian applicant with only Class XII from an English-medium school still needs a test score. The waivers open to Indian applicants are all study-based:

• US degree route: Completion of a US-accredited post-secondary degree waives the test outright.
• One year at a US university: 24 undergraduate credits or 18 graduate credits earned at a US-accepted, accredited institution.
• Transfer credit: Credit equivalent to ENG 101 from an accepted, accredited institution with a grade of C or better.
• ESL pathway: Successful completion of an approved intensive English program.

Insider note: The MS Computer Science bridge route matters - Indian graduates with a B.Sc. or a non-CS engineering degree are not shut out. They enter conditionally, clear the three bridge courses at grade B or above, and stay on the same I-20 timeline.

Marshall UG Programs and Entry Levels

Marshall University’s undergraduate catalogue spans Business, Engineering and Computer Sciences, Health Professions, Sciences, Education, Liberal Arts, Journalism and Aviation. Standardised tests are not required for admission, so Indian applicants are assessed primarily on Class XII marks and English proficiency.

Note: Engineering, nursing and health-professions majors run their own screening on top of the university minimum  a stronger PCM/PCB score in Class XII helps at the department stage even though the university-level floor is only 2.0.

Marshall University MBA Admissions

The MBA sits inside the Brad D. Smith Schools of Business at Marshall’s Lewis College of Business - AACSB-accredited, 33 credit hours in total, and available in an on-campus or fully online format that Indian applicants can complete full-time in one calendar year or part-time across several semesters. There is no GMAT or GRE requirement published for the program.

Marshall PhD Admissions and Research

• Academic: Relevant master’s degree with a strong GPA (typically 3.0+ on 4.0), or an exceptional bachelor’s in engineering for the direct-to-PhD track.
• English: Institution-wide graduate minimum of IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 80.
• Additional file: Statement of research interest, two to three letters of recommendation, CV, and NACES/AICE credential evaluation.

Marshall University Application Process

Marshall runs its own application portal rather than routing through the Common Application, so Indian applicants file once through the university site for the term they want. The overall workflow below covers both undergraduate and graduate international admission.

1. Create an account and start a file on the Marshall online application portal, choosing the correct level (Freshman, Transfer, or Graduate) and Fall/Spring/Summer intake.
2. Pay the application fee - there is currently no application fee for degree-seeking international applicants at Marshall.
3. Order a NACES or AICE course-by-course credential evaluation for every non-US post-secondary transcript, sent directly to Marshall.
4. Submit official Class XII (undergraduate) or bachelor’s transcripts and marksheets - student copies are not accepted.
5. Send official IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo or PTE scores to Marshall from the testing agency.
6. Upload the program-specific documents (SOP, LORs, CV) where the department asks for them - MBA needs two LORs when GPA is 2.5 to 3.0; PhD needs a research statement.
7. Track file status on the applicant portal; decisions arrive in about 2 to 3 business days for undergraduate and around 2 weeks for graduate once the file is complete.
8. Once admitted, submit the I-20 financial documentation to International Student Services, receive the Form I-20, pay the SEVIS I-901 fee, and book the F-1 visa slot at a US consulate in India.

Before you apply: The NACES/AICE evaluation is the single longest-lead item in the file - allow 4 to 8 weeks after posting your original marksheets to WES or ECE. Start it before you finalise the SOP.

Marshall Documents Required for Admission

Every international file at Marshall carries a common paperwork stack, plus a small program-specific add-on. Get the officials moving early - several of these documents route through third parties (schools, testing agencies, credential evaluators) and cannot be uploaded by the applicant.

• Program-specific add-ons - portfolio for design or media programs, research writing sample for select master’s, and Nursing licensure documentation for the RN-to-BSN pathway.

Marshall University Acceptance Rate

Marshall University does not publish a single institutional acceptance-rate figure on its official pages, but its access-oriented profile - admitting most applicants who meet the stated GPA and English floors - is consistent with third-party estimates in the 85 to 90 percent range for undergraduate entry. Graduate admission is more program-driven and varies by department cap.

What Drives a Marshall Admit

USA Student Visa Process for Marshall

Indian applicants admitted to Marshall enter the US on the F-1 student visa. The process moves in a fixed sequence, and the Form I-20 from Marshall’s International Student Services is the pivot document that unlocks the SEVIS payment and consular appointment.

• I-20 issuance: After admission, upload the passport copy and financial documentation showing at least one academic year of estimated cost of attendance - Marshall’s ISS issues the Form I-20 once the file is complete.
• SEVIS I-901 fee: Pay the USD 350 (INR 33,401) SEVIS fee online, print the receipt, and keep it for the consular interview.

2026 update: US visa slot availability in India tightens sharply between May and August - book the F-1 appointment the same week the I-20 arrives if targeting a Fall intake at Marshall.
