What's New in SNHU?

27/May/2025: The English proficiency requirements for the 2025-26 academic year have been updated. To apply, you’ll need to meet one of the following scores:

  • TOEFL: 71 or higher
  • IELTS: 6.0 or higher
  • PTE: 50 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test: 105 or higher

Southern New Hampshire University admissions run on rolling review with fixed Early Action and Priority deadlines anchored to the Fall intake, which is its primary cycle for Indian applicants. Undergraduate entry needs Class XII at 65 percent or higher, and graduate entry needs a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75/4.0 (roughly 55 percent aggregate).

  • Fall 2027 Early Action closes 15 November 2026, the primary intake for SNHU campus applicants.
  • Base graduate tuition starts at USD 12,978 (about INR 12.43 Lakhs) per year, application fee USD 40 (about INR 3,830) for graduate and USD 20 (INR 1,915) for undergraduate, waived through the Common App.
  • UG needs Class XII at 65 percent, PG needs a Bachelor’s with GPA 2.75/4.0 (about 55 percent), plus IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 71.
  • SNHU reports an institution-wide acceptance rate of about 96 percent, one of the most accessible admits among US mid-size private universities.

Popular Indian-applicant picks at Southern New Hampshire University include the on-campus MBA, MS Business Analytics, and BS Computer Science, with students citing the no-GMAT/GRE policy, the compact 12-month MBA, and the accessible admit rate as decisive factors in choosing this university.

Admission Status: Open. Southern New Hampshire University’s primary intake, Fall (August) 2027, is accepting applications. First-year undergraduate applicants apply through the Common Application, whose 2026-27 cycle opened 1 August 2026, with Early Action closing 15 November 2026 and the Priority round on 1 February 2027. Graduate applications sit on rolling review via SNHU’s own portal. The application fee is USD 40 (about INR 3,830) for graduate applicants and USD 20 (INR 1,915) for undergraduates, waived when applying through the Common App.

Southern New Hampshire University Eligibility for Indian Students

SNHU sets academic floors that map cleanly to Indian qualifications and accepts most standardised English tests without insisting on a single one. The university is test-optional for SAT and ACT at undergraduate level and does not require GMAT or GRE for master’s programs.

  • UG general entry: Class XII (10+2) with an aggregate of 65 percent or higher from a recognised Indian board (CBSE, ISC, or a state board).
  • PG general entry: A 3-year or 4-year Bachelor’s degree from a recognised Indian university with a minimum GPA of 2.75/4.0 (roughly 55 percent aggregate). Transcripts must be evaluated by WES or TrueCopy before final admission.
  • MBA entry: Bachelor’s with GPA 2.75/4.0, no GMAT required, work experience preferred but not mandatory for the 12-month full-time track.

Southern New Hampshire University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

SNHU issues English-proficiency waivers on a case-by-case basis for Indian applicants who meet any of these routes: an English-medium Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a formal medium-of-instruction (MOI) letter from the awarding university, completion of an English Pathway Partner program, or successful completion of SNHU’s own on-campus ESL program. Applicants can email international@snhu.edu with an MOI letter and transcripts before submitting the application to confirm eligibility for a waiver, which avoids the cost and wait of a fresh IELTS or TOEFL sitting.

Insider note: An Indian Bachelor’s from a university that officially certifies English as the medium of instruction (Delhi University, autonomous institutes, most private universities) is usually accepted for an MOI waiver at SNHU, but state-board equivalents are treated inconsistently, so request the waiver decision in writing before you commit to the application fee.

Southern New Hampshire University PG Programs and English Scores

SNHU offers over 25 daytime master’s programs on the Manchester campus across business, computing, education, psychology, and creative fields. Base graduate tuition sits at approximately USD 755 (INR 72,291) per credit, translating to a full-year cost of roughly USD 22,650 (INR 21.69 Lakhs) for a 30-credit master’s; for the complete course-wise breakdown, see the detailed fee breakdown.

Southern New Hampshire University MBA Admissions and Concentrations

The Southern New Hampshire University MBA is a 12-month, 30-credit full-time program at the Manchester campus with no GMAT or GRE requirement, one of the shortest US MBA cycles Indian applicants can access. Base tuition works out to about USD 22,650 (INR 21.69 Lakhs) for the full degree at USD 755 (INR 72,291) per credit; check the funding options for Indian students before finalising your budget.

SNHU MBA Concentrations for Indian Applicants

The campus MBA carries 17 available concentrations, letting Indian applicants align a general management degree with a specialisation. Options include Business Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Project Management, Sport Business, Accounting, Healthcare Management, Human Resources, IT Management, International Business, Leadership, Operations and Supply Chain, and Sustainability. Each concentration adds 3 to 4 focused electives on top of the 10 core MBA courses.

What is the MBA admission process at SNHU?

SNHU screens MBA applicants on transcripts, a statement of purpose, and one recommendation letter, and there is no admission interview stage — the review is document-based. Work experience is preferred but is not a hard requirement, so recent Bachelor’s graduates from Indian universities remain eligible. Priority decisions typically arrive within four to six weeks of a completed application.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Southern New Hampshire University MBA page for your chosen concentration before applying.

Southern New Hampshire University Application Process for Indian Students

SNHU keeps the application steps short — the whole process from account creation to decision typically runs six to eight weeks for a completed international file. Undergraduate first-year applicants use the Common App, and graduate applicants use SNHU’s own portal.

  1. Create your platform account. Undergraduate first-year applicants register on the Common Application, whose 2026-27 cycle opened on 1 August 2026, and add Southern New Hampshire University to the school list. Graduate applicants register directly on SNHU’s graduate application portal.
  2. Fill the application form. Enter personal, academic, and program-choice details. Undergraduate applicants also complete the Common App essay (250 to 650 words).
  3. Upload supporting documents. Transcripts, English test score, passport bio page, statement of purpose (graduate applicants), and one letter of recommendation.
  4. Pay the application fee. Graduate applicants pay the application fee of USD 40 (about INR 3,830) on the SNHU portal. Undergraduate first-year applicants pay USD 20 (INR 1,915) on the direct portal, or use the Common App where SNHU waives the fee entirely.
  5. Submit financial documents post-admission. After the offer, send a bank statement or affidavit showing funds for the first academic year to intUGdocs@snhu.edu (UG) or intGRdocs@snhu.edu (PG).
  6. Receive the I-20 form. SNHU issues the I-20 once financial and admission documents are verified, which starts the F-1 visa timeline.

For a full list of on-campus majors and their pages, see the SNHU program list before selecting your course of study.

Southern New Hampshire University Admission Decisions and Offer Timeline

SNHU releases decisions on a rolling basis, so a completed international application typically hears back within four to six weeks. Decisions arrive via the applicant portal and email, and the offer letter itself is a PDF that is then paired with the I-20 once financial paperwork clears.

  • Early Action decisions: Released from mid-December for Fall Early Action applicants who applied by 15 November.
  • Priority decisions: Released from early March for Priority-round applicants (Feb 1 deadline).
  • Rolling decisions: Applications submitted after the priority date receive decisions on a first-in first-out basis, usually within six weeks.
  • Deferral: Admitted students may defer to the following term (one deferral allowed) by written request to international admission.
  • Conditional offers: Issued when only the English test or final transcript is pending — the condition must be cleared before the I-20 is released.

Southern New Hampshire University Documents Required for Indian Applicants

Documentation for SNHU splits into two stages — admission-stage papers submitted with the application, and post-admission papers required for the I-20 and F-1 visa. Send admission-stage documents through the application portal, and post-admission documents to intUGdocs@snhu.edu or intGRdocs@snhu.edu.

  • Class XII marksheet and passing certificate (undergraduate applicants).
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate and full academic transcripts, evaluated by WES or TrueCopy (graduate applicants).
  • English proficiency score report (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, or goFLUENT) or an MOI letter for the waiver route.
  • Statement of purpose covering academic background, career goals, and program fit (graduate) or Common App essay (undergraduate).
  • One letter of recommendation from an academic or professional referee.
  • Resume or CV for graduate applicants.
  • Passport bio-page copy in colour.
  • Financial guarantee — a bank statement covering the first academic year’s cost, plus a signed Financial Affidavit if the funds are not in the applicant’s name.
  • Certified English translations for any document not originally in English.

Southern New Hampshire University Acceptance Rate for International Students

Southern New Hampshire University publishes an institution-wide acceptance rate of approximately 96 percent, one of the highest among US mid-size private universities, and the Manchester campus itself has historically admitted about 96.37 percent of its applicant pool.

What does 96 percent actually mean for Indian applicants?

The high headline rate reflects SNHU’s access-oriented mission — the university admits most applicants who meet its stated academic and English requirements. In practice, an Indian applicant with Class XII at 65 percent (UG) or a Bachelor’s at GPA 2.75/4.0 (PG), plus IELTS 6.0 or an MOI waiver, is very likely to receive an offer.

SNHU Admission Difficulty by Program

Selectivity is uniform across most SNHU programs, but a few carry stricter cut-offs. The MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling program requires a Psychology background and a higher GPA of 3.0/4.0, and its cohort size is capped. STEM master’s programs review the applicant’s undergraduate coursework in mathematics or computing for fit rather than for competitive ranking.

Insider note: A 96 percent admit rate does not translate to automatic visa approval. Consular officers at Indian US embassies weigh finances, ties to India, and program relevance separately, so a strong SNHU offer still needs a well-prepared F-1 visa interview to convert into enrolment.

USA Student Visa Process for Southern New Hampshire University Applicants

Indian students admitted to Southern New Hampshire University enter the US on an F-1 student visa, issued after SNHU sends the I-20 form. The visa process runs in parallel with post-admission documentation and typically takes four to eight weeks from I-20 receipt to visa stamping.

Start with the SEVIS I-901 fee payment of USD 350 (about INR 33,513) on fmjfee.com, followed by the online DS-160 form and a visa fee payment of USD 185 (INR 17,714). Book the visa interview at the US embassy in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, or Hyderabad, carrying the I-20, SEVIS receipt, DS-160 confirmation, passport, financial documents, SNHU offer letter, and academic transcripts. On arrival in Manchester, report to SNHU International Student Services within 30 days for immigration check-in.

2026 update: Wait times for US student visa interview slots at Indian consulates have stabilised at roughly two to six weeks in the peak May-to-August window, so international applicants targeting Fall 2027 should aim to complete their DS-160 by April 2027.

Tips and Application Checklist for Southern New Hampshire University

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at SNHU over the past three admission cycles and are timed against the Fall 2027 primary intake.

  • Apply Early Action (by 15 November 2026): Rolling review still favours earlier files for scholarship consideration and I-20 turnaround.
  • Request WES or TrueCopy evaluation 8 weeks before your target deadline: Indian transcript evaluations often take four to six weeks, and SNHU accepts only these two vendors.
  • Confirm MOI waiver in writing before skipping IELTS: Email international@snhu.edu with your Bachelor’s MOI letter first to avoid a late test booking.
  • Use the Common App for undergraduate to save the application fee: SNHU charges nothing on the Common App, versus USD 20 (INR 1,915) on the direct portal.
  • Book biometrics and visa interview 10 to 12 weeks before the term start: For Fall 2027 (term starts late August), that means April to May 2027.
  • Keep at least one year of tuition and living costs in the financial affidavit account: SNHU requires proof for year one at I-20 stage, and the consulate checks the same document.
  • Send graduate documents to intGRdocs@snhu.edu, undergraduate to intUGdocs@snhu.edu: Mixing these two inboxes delays file assembly by seven to ten days.
  • Follow up on the I-20 by day 10 after admission: The financial-verification step often stalls silently, and a proactive email clears it quickly.

Southern New Hampshire University admissions for Indian students centre on the Fall 2027 primary intake, with Early Action closing 15 November 2026, an accessible 96 percent admit rate, and no GMAT or SAT required. Confirm the MOI waiver before booking IELTS, and start the WES evaluation and financial paperwork in parallel with the application to keep the I-20 timeline on track.

Scholarship

  • At the start of the program while applying to the university they had offered me a 55% scholarship which was directly applied to my fees.
  • Apart from this due to being involved in various different clubs and my work, I have not really applied for scholarships.
  • A lot of my classmates have applied to and received various scholarships and some are also part of a work study program which happens to be very competitive.
  • There's a lot of grants and scholarships available, details of which can be found on the website and they also allow credit transfers of upto 90 credits which also helps in reducing the costs of the course.
  • One just needs to talk to their enrollment advisor or academic advisor if you are enrolled already and they'll guide you through with the application processes and eligibility requirements of various scholarships and grants also assisting you as much as they can to increase your chances at receiving the financial aid.

I chose this university as it was my home away from home. My mom is originally from New Hampshire. I chose education because I always wanted to be a teacher. It was a really great experience and I truly got to know myself.

Scholarship

Yes, I have received the Pell Grant and some basic scholarships for living on campus. Not sure of the amount or if they exist anymore.
