Drexel University admissions welcome Indian applicants across three intakes (Fall, Winter, Spring), with UG requiring Class XII completion in English medium and PG requiring a four-year bachelor’s degree at a minimum 3.0 GPA (around 60% Indian equivalent).
- Next Fall 2027 deadline: Early Decision and Early Action close 15 November 2026 via the Common Application, with Regular Decision on 15 January 2027.
- Application fee: USD 65 (around INR 6,189).
- Eligibility floor: UG needs Class XII pass with English; PG needs a bachelor’s at 3.0 GPA. English minimum IELTS 6.5.
- Acceptance rate: around 78% institution-wide, an access-oriented profile that admits most applicants meeting the stated academic floor.
Popular tracks among Indian applicants include MS Computer Science, MS Information Systems, and MS Cybersecurity, with alumni consistently citing the mandatory six-month co-op cycles as the single largest reason they picked Drexel University over similarly ranked US peers.

Drexel Eligibility for Indian Students
Drexel keeps its academic floor consistent across colleges but expects English proficiency evidence from every Indian applicant whose school-leaving instruction was not in English. The bars below sit at the institution level, and stricter cutoffs may apply at individual programs.
- UG general entry (recommended): Class XII from CBSE, ICSE, or a State board with at least 65 percent aggregate.
- PG general entry: Four-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (roughly 60 percent Indian aggregate). Three-year Indian bachelor’s degrees are accepted where a fourth year of study or a master’s supplements the file.
- English minimum: IELTS 6.5 overall, TOEFL 90 iBT, PTE 61, or Duolingo 110. PhD applicants need 6.5 in Speaking and Listening bands as well.
- GRE or GMAT: Optional for most master’s programs, but recommended if the applicant’s undergraduate GPA sits below 3.0.

Drexel Undergraduate Programs for Indian Students
Drexel’s UG programs are best known for the Drexel Co-op Model: undergraduates alternate full-time academic terms with paid, full-time work terms of six months each, usually stretching the bachelor’s to five years but graduating with 18 months of professional experience. Indian students choosing engineering, computing, or business almost always take the five-year co-op track.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| BS Computer Science | 4 years standard, 5 years with co-op | Class XII at 70 percent with Mathematics through Class XII | IELTS 6.5 |
| BS Mechanical Engineering | 5 years with co-op | Class XII at 70 percent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics | IELTS 6.5 |
| BS Business Administration | 4 or 5 years | Class XII at 65 percent with any stream | IELTS 6.5 |
| BS Data Science | 4 or 5 years | Class XII at 70 percent with Mathematics | IELTS 6.5 |
| BS Nursing | 4 years | Class XII at 70 percent with Biology, Chemistry | IELTS 6.5 |
Drexel is Test Optional for most Class XII applicants, meaning submitting SAT or ACT is not required. The BA/BS + MD Early Assurance track is the exception and still requires official SAT or ACT scores.
Drexel Application Process Step by Step
The route splits by level: undergraduates apply through the Common Application, and graduate applicants apply directly through Drexel’s Discover Drexel portal. Both cycles are open now for Fall 2027 intake per the Drexel application instructions page.
- Undergraduate applicants: Open a Common Application account.
- Graduate applicants: Open the Discover Drexel portal at drexel.edu/apply and select one program (only one graduate application is permitted per cycle).
- Complete the online form: UG applicants write the Common App 250 to 650 word personal essay. Graduate applicants write a 500 word statement of purpose covering academic background, professional goals, and research interests.
- Upload transcripts and test scores: Class XII marksheets (UG) or bachelor’s degree transcripts (PG), plus IELTS or TOEFL score reports. Drexel’s institutional code for score reports is 2194.
- Pay the application fee of USD 65 (around INR 6,189) on the Discover Drexel portal or via the Common App payment page.
- Track offer: UG Early Decision and Early Action files receive decisions in mid-December, Regular Decision by 1 April. Graduate decisions release rolling within 4 to 8 weeks of a complete file. Admitted first-year students confirm by 1 May, the National Candidates’ Reply Date.
Planning note: Drexel checks the received-by date, not the postmark. Book a courier slot with DHL or FedEx two weeks before the deadline for physical documents, and upload digital copies as the first backup.
Documents Required for Drexel Admissions
Drexel accepts scanned uploads at the application stage but expects certified paper copies once an offer is accepted. Prepare the full paperwork list before opening the Common App or Discover Drexel form to avoid last-minute file re-uploads.
- Valid Indian passport: Colour scan of the biodata page, valid for at least six months beyond arrival.
- Academic transcripts: Class X and XII marksheets for UG; all bachelor’s degree marksheets and degree certificate for PG. Translated to English if not already in English.
- Personal essay or statement of purpose: 250 to 650 word Common App essay for UG, 500 word SOP for PG.
- Letters of recommendation: One counsellor letter for UG (Common App). One LOR minimum, two preferred, for PG (uploaded by the recommender).
- Résumé or CV: Required for all PG and MBA applicants; UG optional.
- Test score report: Official IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score sent to Drexel code 2194. GMAT or GRE for LeBow MBA and PhDs.
- Financial statement: Bank statement covering first-year tuition plus living costs, uploaded post-offer for the Form I-20 issuance.
- Application fee receipt: Payment confirmation for the USD 65 (around INR 6,189) fee.
Drexel University Acceptance Rate
Drexel’s overall acceptance rate sits at around 78 percent, placing it firmly in the access-oriented tier (a university that admits most applicants who meet its stated academic requirements). For the fuller institutional ranking band, see the Drexel University ranking band.
Drexel Acceptance Rate for International Applicants
Institutional data for the Fall 2023 cycle showed roughly 9,057 international applications against 6,278 offers, translating to an international acceptance rate of about 69 percent. Indian applicants typically sit close to this figure. Graduate acceptance rates run higher because most graduate programs use a rolling review and the 3.0 GPA plus IELTS 6.5 floor is well-calibrated to admit international STEM applicants.
What Drives a Drexel Admission Decision
Once the academic floor is cleared, Drexel weighs the essay or SOP fit to the co-op model, professional or research alignment for PG, and reference-letter substance. Applicants with borderline GPAs strengthen files by submitting a GRE or GMAT score and by demonstrating internship or research exposure directly relevant to the target major.
Insider note: A GPA of 3.0 clears the door but does not guarantee scholarship consideration. Indian applicants aiming for the LeBow priority scholarship deadline of 1 March 2027 should apply with a GPA closer to 3.4 and a GMAT of 620 or above to be competitive.
Drexel University’s admissions run on a predictable cycle: three intakes per year, a clear 3.0 GPA and IELTS 6.5 institutional floor, and a Common Application route for undergraduates that opened 1 October 2026 for Fall 2027 entry. Indian applicants who file early, match co-op ambitions to programme fit, and confirm the STEM designation before enrolling put themselves at the top of the file review pile.

Ques. Does Drexel University require SAT or ACT for Indian first-year applicants?
Ans. No. Drexel is Test Optional for most first-year applicants, so SAT and ACT scores are not required. The BA/BS + MD Early Assurance track is the one exception where SAT or ACT is mandatory.

Ans. Three-year Indian bachelor’s degrees are considered where the applicant supplements the file with a fourth year of study or a master’s degree. Files are reviewed program by program, so confirm with the college of interest before applying.

Ans. The overall institutional acceptance rate is around 78 percent, and the international acceptance rate was about 69 percent in the Fall 2023 cycle (roughly 6,278 offers on 9,057 applications). Graduate acceptance rates run higher due to rolling review.

Ques. Which programs are most popular with Indian students at Drexel?

At the undergraduate level, BS Computer Science and BS Mechanical Engineering (both with five-year co-op) attract the largest Indian intake.
Ques. What is Drexel’s co-op program and does it affect the application?
Ans. The Drexel Co-op Model alternates academic terms with six-month paid full-time work terms, extending the bachelor’s from four to five years and adding up to 18 months of professional experience. It does not change the application form itself, but reviewers reward essays that connect a specific co-op industry to the applicant’s career goal.
Ques. When will I hear back on my Drexel application?
Ans. First-year Early Decision and Early Action applicants receive decisions in mid-December, and Regular Decision applicants by 1 April. Graduate decisions release on a rolling basis, typically 4 to 8 weeks after a complete file is submitted.

• I received Dean's Fellowship(It is based on how strong is your profile when applying, how strong background you have for the course you're applying for). I received 16k$ for full course
• Many of my friends received various scholarships, but the amounts for everyone is different(It may vary based on the time & your profile). I personally don't know about that ratio, but it may be around 30-40% according to what I have seen so far

- I Like the environment around the campus, one most thing I enjoyed was quarter system, Diversity of Drexel, Drexel Univeristy provide alot of scholarships program which students can apply and get one of them, Different association which new students can participate and meet their co-students and make network.
- I was the part of one of their organization (IGSA).
Dislikes
- I will not say that i dislike anything about Drexel, because I enjoyed my 2 years of journey their and i cherish every moment. One I felt was selecting people in any organization should handle by advisor of the association not the students. That way you can create good team to organize events.
Scholarship
- Yes, I received scholarships/fellowships!
- I received a 10-15% scholarship on my total tuition fees in 2 years and I was so happy with it. Drexel provides a lot of scholarships for students so they can afford the fees. So I applied all of that. when I got my offer letter, their only time I got the fellowship for each quarter.

- Campus life is not that great, saince the university is scattered in the city.
- The course during the initial quarters is not that great, as it focuses more on the history of games and digital media.
- At times, the course felt it had unnecessary filler subjects.

- I like the CO-OP opportunity at Drexel University. It will give me industrial experience along with academics.
Dislikes
- I dislike the quarter pattern in my university. It makes my studies hectic. I literally have exams every month!
Overview
I chose this university for the CO-OP opportunity, speciality in the Pharmaceutical industry. The university helped me to develop my resume, LinkedIn profile, etc.

- The campus is located in the city so you get to experience true city life while also getting a campus.
- Lot of accommodation options and also really affordable as compared to other cities.
- Lot of food options, especially international food.
Dislikes
- The academics could be better.
- It lacks community because we don't have a lot of focus on sports, so the college doesn't get a chance to come together and celebrate Drexel.
Overview
I picked this over any other college because of its city-integrated campus. It also had business analytics as an option for a STEM degree, even though it was a co-major, so only 24 extra credits. Also liked their co-op system where you get to intern full-time with big companies, almost promising a return offer in the future.

- Campus is pretty diverse and students are always onto something haha
- Faculty is helpful and good at what they do. Teaching is v important and I found it to be top tier
- Co-op program is easily the BEST in the country. I highly recommend opting for the 5 year 3 coop option
Dislikes
- I wish there were more activities outside of regular university co curriculars. Would have loved to explore more
- More social events where I could network more. Maybe I needed to sign up for more so I guess more marketing of those events?
- Post Graduation resources are a little scarce. Wish I could stay in contact more
Overview
I had taken the SATs and applied for Drexel University alongside 4 other universities (Texas A&M, NYU, Purdue, and Penn State). I got in all the above listed and got deferred in NYU. The application process specifically for Drexel was pretty straightforward. I had to submit my SAT score, write 2 essays, and fill out the application form, and financial aid form. I had applied early decision.
Scholarship
There are multiple ways to apply for scholarships. One is merit-based and one is need-based. I highly suggest applying for both. There's also the STAR scholar program and other programs where you could get 100% scholarships I recommend having a good score in your 10th, 11th, 12th and SAT + a good application + genuine financial need to avail the scholarship you truly deserve
Overview
Course Curriculum, Alumni Network. LeBow in particular has a great alumni network and the careers team here is exceptionally nice and helpful.
Scholarship
Yes - $18,000/total LeBow Alumni Merit Scholarship. No additional application for the scholarship. There is a deadline for applying. If you apply before that you are considered for a scholarship.
Overview
They're a private school, specializing in co-ops, and are among the best in the country with connections to Fortune 500 companies. Students are able to gain 2 years of experience even before graduation.
Scholarship
No, I didn't receive any scholarship.
Overview
I chose Drexel for the co-op program and also because I planned to transfer before I started and my counselor told me a private school would be easier to transfer from.
Scholarship
I was automatically considered for merit scholarship and for the Founder?s scholarship worth $5,700 per quarter which is $22,800 for the year.
