Drexel University Application Deadlines

Drexel runs on a quarter system, so undergraduates enter through a Fall (September) primary intake or the smaller Winter Entry Program in January.

Postgraduate application deadlines vary by programme and college. The dates above are the official international deadlines published for many graduate programmes (including the College of Engineering). Applicants should verify the deadline for their chosen programme on the relevant Drexel programme page before applying.

Drexel Eligibility for Indian Students

Drexel keeps its academic floor consistent across colleges but expects English proficiency evidence from every Indian applicant whose school-leaving instruction was not in English. The bars below sit at the institution level, and stricter cutoffs may apply at individual programs.

• UG general entry (recommended): Class XII from CBSE, ICSE, or a State board with at least 65 percent aggregate.
• PG general entry: Four-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (roughly 60 percent Indian aggregate). Three-year Indian bachelor’s degrees are accepted where a fourth year of study or a master’s supplements the file.
• English minimum: IELTS 6.5 overall, TOEFL 90 iBT, PTE 61, or Duolingo 110. PhD applicants need 6.5 in Speaking and Listening bands as well.
• GRE or GMAT: Optional for most master’s programs, but recommended if the applicant’s undergraduate GPA sits below 3.0.

Drexel Undergraduate Programs for Indian Students

Drexel’s UG programs are best known for the Drexel Co-op Model: undergraduates alternate full-time academic terms with paid, full-time work terms of six months each, usually stretching the bachelor’s to five years but graduating with 18 months of professional experience. Indian students choosing engineering, computing, or business almost always take the five-year co-op track.

Drexel is Test Optional for most Class XII applicants, meaning submitting SAT or ACT is not required. The BA/BS + MD Early Assurance track is the exception and still requires official SAT or ACT scores.

Drexel Application Process Step by Step

The route splits by level: undergraduates apply through the Common Application, and graduate applicants apply directly through Drexel’s Discover Drexel portal. Both cycles are open now for Fall 2027 intake per the Drexel application instructions page.

1. Undergraduate applicants: Open a Common Application account. 
2. Graduate applicants: Open the Discover Drexel portal at drexel.edu/apply and select one program (only one graduate application is permitted per cycle).
3. Complete the online form: UG applicants write the Common App 250 to 650 word personal essay. Graduate applicants write a 500 word statement of purpose covering academic background, professional goals, and research interests.
4. Upload transcripts and test scores: Class XII marksheets (UG) or bachelor’s degree transcripts (PG), plus IELTS or TOEFL score reports. Drexel’s institutional code for score reports is 2194.
5. Pay the application fee of USD 65 (around INR 6,189) on the Discover Drexel portal or via the Common App payment page.
6. Track offer: UG Early Decision and Early Action files receive decisions in mid-December, Regular Decision by 1 April. Graduate decisions release rolling within 4 to 8 weeks of a complete file. Admitted first-year students confirm by 1 May, the National Candidates’ Reply Date.

Planning note: Drexel checks the received-by date, not the postmark. Book a courier slot with DHL or FedEx two weeks before the deadline for physical documents, and upload digital copies as the first backup.

Documents Required for Drexel Admissions

Drexel accepts scanned uploads at the application stage but expects certified paper copies once an offer is accepted. Prepare the full paperwork list before opening the Common App or Discover Drexel form to avoid last-minute file re-uploads.

• Valid Indian passport: Colour scan of the biodata page, valid for at least six months beyond arrival.
• Academic transcripts: Class X and XII marksheets for UG; all bachelor’s degree marksheets and degree certificate for PG. Translated to English if not already in English.
• Personal essay or statement of purpose: 250 to 650 word Common App essay for UG, 500 word SOP for PG.
• Letters of recommendation: One counsellor letter for UG (Common App). One LOR minimum, two preferred, for PG (uploaded by the recommender).
• Résumé or CV: Required for all PG and MBA applicants; UG optional.
• Test score report: Official IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score sent to Drexel code 2194. GMAT or GRE for LeBow MBA and PhDs.
• Financial statement: Bank statement covering first-year tuition plus living costs, uploaded post-offer for the Form I-20 issuance.
• Application fee receipt: Payment confirmation for the USD 65 (around INR 6,189) fee.
