Rochester Institute of Technology, founded in 1829, sits in the Henrietta suburb of Rochester, New York. PG tuition ranges from USD 48,420 (INR 46.23 Lakhs) to USD 64,542 (INR 61.62 Lakhs) annually. UG tuition is USD 63,508 (INR 60.63 Lakhs) annually. The Computer Science Bachelor of Science (BS) is a popular five-year route.

RIT estimates graduate housing and meals at USD 17,370 (INR 16.58 Lakhs) annually. University housing comes first because published rates show room types and lease periods. Private housing remains a separate commute option, but RIT publishes no private rent range. RIT’s other estimate includes transport, books, supplies, and personal costs at USD 3,016 (INR 2.88 Lakhs) annually.

A first-year Computer Science Master of Science (MS) budget starts at INR 61.92 Lakhs. The higher published housing case reaches INR 71.87 Lakhs before health insurance. The range uses RIT’s lower, standard, and higher on-campus housing scenarios. RIT has not released the next fee-year rates, so recalculate after release.

Exchange rate: 1 USD = INR 95.47 on 14 August 2026.

Spring 2027 Graduate Intake: Current route and next undergraduate entry

Fee update: The 2026/27 rates apply. UG tuition is USD 63,508 (INR 60.63 Lakhs). The 9-credit PG rate is USD 48,420 (INR 46.23 Lakhs). The 12-18 credit PG rate is USD 64,542 (INR 61.62 Lakhs). RIT has not released 2027/28 rates.

When to pay: The master’s deposit is USD 500 (INR 47,735) and is credited toward first-semester tuition. Spring is due November 15, 2026. Fall is due April 15, 2027 unless the offer differs.

Scholarships: RIT automatically considers international UG applicants for merit awards. Awards range from USD 14,000 (INR 13.37 Lakhs) to USD 27,000 (INR 25.78 Lakhs). Graduate awards typically cover 10% to 40% of tuition. External Indian deadlines remain target-intake deadline pending.

  • The 12-18 credit rate applies to heavier semester loads.
  • RIT states that tuition varies by degree, credit load, and delivery mode.
  • Graduate pages for the featured programmes list Fall or Spring entry with rolling review.

Note: RIT’s USD 48,420 (INR 46.23 Lakhs) rate applies to two 9-credit semesters. The 12-18 credit rate is USD 64,542 (INR 61.62 Lakhs) annually.

Rochester Institute of Technology Undergraduate Fees: Fall 2027

UG tuition is USD 63,508 (INR 60.63 Lakhs) annually for 12-18 credits. Housing and personal costs sit outside that tuition figure.

BS in Economics  4 years USD 63,508 (INR 60.63 Lakhs) Annual, 12-18 credits USD 254,032 (INR 2.43 Crore)

UG full-course figures use the published curriculum duration and current annual tuition at unchanged current rates.

  • Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering include co-op blocks.
  • Those co-op routes can extend the academic plan to five years.
  • Economics shows a four-year comparison because its standard route is shorter.
  • Housing, food, student fees, insurance, and immigration charges sit outside published tuition.

Note: A five-year co-op curriculum produces USD 317,540 (INR 3.03 Crore) at unchanged tuition. It does not predict future annual increases.

Rochester Institute of Technology Fee Trend by Year

RIT undergraduate tuition increased from USD 58,324 (around INR 55.68 lakh) in 2024–25 to USD 63,508 (around INR 60.63 lakh) in 2026–27.

Graduate tuition followed a similar upward trend, with the table showing year-over-year (YoY) changes for both study levels, which can affect loan amounts and timing for both intakes.

Year UG tuition (USD and INR) UG YoY % PG tuition, 12-18 credits  PG YoY %
2024/25 USD 58,324 (INR 55.68 Lakhs) N/A USD 59,102 (INR 56.42 Lakhs) N/A
2025/26 USD 60,774 (INR 58.02 Lakhs) 4.2% USD 61,762 (INR 58.96 Lakhs) 4.5%
2026/27 USD 63,508 (INR 60.63 Lakhs) 4.5% USD 64,542 (INR 61.62 Lakhs) 4.5%
  • UG tuition rose 4.2% between 2024/25 and 2025/26.
  • UG and PG tuition each rose 4.5% between 2025/26 and 2026/27.
  • Spring 2027 PG applicants should use 2026/27 rates until RIT releases new rates.
  • Use the latest published fee-year until the next official year is released, then rerun totals.

Key Insight: Spring 2027 PG and Fall 2027 UG planning currently use 2026/27 rates. The annual gap between RIT’s 9-credit and 12-18 credit PG loads is USD 16,122 (INR 15.40 Lakhs). That difference makes credit planning financially important.

  • The low-living case uses the RIT Inn double room and the standard food allowance.
  • The high-living case uses Perkins Green one-bedroom housing and the same food allowance.
  • RIT’s current international health insurance rate is not included because the fetched page does not publish it.
  • The USD 500 (INR 47,735) deposit reduces first-semester tuition, so it is not an extra total cost.
  • Visa and SEVIS charges are one-time costs, unlike the annual tuition and living expenses.

RIT states that the deposit is non-refundable and credited toward first-semester tuition.

Methods of Payment

  • Pay online by card through RIT’s Nelnet payment portal.
  • Use Flywire for international bank transfers and compare the final INR quote.
  • Mail a check or money order when RIT permits that method.
  • Use a regulated forex card only after checking merchant limits and conversion charges.
  • Coordinate education-loan disbursement against the RIT electronic bill before its due date.

Steps to Pay the Tuition Fee for International Students

  1. Accept the RIT offer and review the deposit date.
  2. Pay the USD 500 (INR 47,735) deposit through the permitted method.
  3. Submit financial documents and receive the Form I-20, the Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.
  4. Pay the remaining electronic bill balance on RIT’s instalment schedule.
  5. Keep every payment receipt for the F-1 visa file.

RIT sends undergraduate semester bills about six weeks before classes and generally requires payment about two weeks before classes.

Note: Spring 2027 master’s deposits are due November 15, 2026. Send a bank transfer several business days early, because posting delays can affect housing and immigration documents.

Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students

The largest controllable PG saving is USD 16,122 (INR 15.40 Lakhs). That is the annual difference between RIT’s 9-credit and 12-18 credit loads.

  • Choose the lower credit load only when the degree plan and visa status permit it.
  • Compare RIT housing before signing a private lease.
  • Published room costs differ by USD 5,214 (INR 4.98 Lakhs) per semester.
  • F-1 students may work on campus up to 20 hours weekly during the academic term, subject to immigration rules.
  • Section 80E may allow a deduction for qualifying education-loan interest, subject to Indian tax conditions.
  • RIT states that no tuition or fees are charged during co-op.
  • The academic plan and co-op eligibility control that saving.
  • Eligible Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degrees can use 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT).
  • A 24-month STEM extension may follow the initial OPT period.

Tip for Indian Students: The highest-value lever is a confirmed 30% RIT tuition award. It would save USD 24,207 (INR 23.11 Lakhs) on the Computer Science MS current-rate tuition.

For Spring 2027, the Computer Science MS first-year cost is estimated at INR 61.92–71.87 lakh, including tuition, living expenses, mandatory fees, visa, and SEVIS charges. A 30% scholarship could reduce tuition by around INR 23.11 lakh, but it is not guaranteed.

For financing, a INR 1.13 crore loan at 10.5% for 10 years would mean an estimated monthly EMI of INR 1.52 lakh. For admissions, follow the deadline stated in your RIT offer or programme page, as deadlines can vary by programme and intake.

  • I would rate it 10/10 in every of the aspect above.
    • Very well updated and planned
    • 1 long class for masters (evening class 6-11 pm designed that way for the working professionals, which was very helpful for me to gain both experience and masters at a time in Dubai)
    • My class had 30 students. (Note: even though our batch had 70 students, they’ve divided them into 2 cohorts, as they follow this rule of a maximum of 30-35 students in a class)

Fees

  • 100000 dirhams (AED) approximately

  • I am the only indian student in my bachelor class, and around 15-20 classes have more than 30+ people in class, and some courses are too tough, and some are easy. On average, assignments are too tough sometimes on an average.
  • But the most positive thing is that you will for sure learn so many new things every day in classes.
  • And the negative aspects are more assignments and a hectic schedule sometimes. I have registered for 18 credits, so classes are in odd timings too, like morning at 8 AM and night at 7 PM.

Fees

  • I am paying around $20000 per semester, and I sat off-campus, and 12-18 credits is the same fee for bachelors. And per credit is around $2600, I guess, so I don't know about master's. Fees are charged semester-wise.
  • My monthly expenses come to around $900-$1000. Rent is $550, and electricity is around $30, and all other expenses like food and exc are rest and transportation is free for my location as RIT provides bus service.

  • The difficulty of the courses themselves is, in my opinion, very subjective. I think the real difficulty is probably adjusting more to a lot of independent self-study and time management between your individual assignments, group project/activities and your own individual studies for assessments/final exams. It was definitely a mix of both for certain courses for sure.
  • Up to 4 classes would take place a day - a full day's classes would be, say, 8:15-10:00, 10:15-12:00, 13:15-15:00, and 15:15-17:00. But of course your schedule varied each day and it was definitely dependent on which track you specialised in.
  • For the 2019 intake, our batch size was probably nearly 100 students. From the second semester, when we all split into our different tracks, we were then probably 30.
  • There were nine of us Indian students enrolled in the 2019 MSc SEE program at KTH on a full-time basis; including those with common courses and who were on exchange/Erasmus programs, that went up to say in the range of fifteen to twenty.

Fees

  • Once again, the following are 2019 numbers.
  • I paid SEK 310,000 for the entire two years (SEK 77,500 paid each semester).
  • My monthly expenses would be approximately SEK 9,000. A rough breakdown of this would be SEK 4000 for rent, SEK 800 for all public transport means, SEK 2000 for food, SEK 300 for healthcare insurance and the rest would be either miscellaneous expenses or kept aside for emergencies.

  • The Packaging Science curriculum at RIT balances theory and practical learning, with a moderate to challenging difficulty level. Classes focus on real-world skills, enhanced by labs, projects, and experienced faculty.
  • With 15-30 students per class and about 20-30% Indian students, it fosters diversity. Classes run 8 AM-5 PM, 2-3 daily. Positives include industry relevance and facilities; negatives involve an intense pace.

Fees

  • Fee was charged semester wise, based on number of credits. My monthly expenses are around 1200-1500$ including rent and expenses.
  • Per credit fee is around $2300 and college also offers a lot of scholarships to deserving students.
  • Rents of the accommodation could be expensive. But Rochester has a lot of cheaper options as well. Transportation is free as Rochester
  • Institute has its own shuttle services which cover the whole city and Indian grocery stores and Walmart are all nearby.

Curriculum is extremely modern and up to date - always changing at the pace of technology. I haven't learned anything that I haven't applied at some point in real life.

Fees

Total tuition fees for one year (2 semesters) without financial aid is approximately 75,000 USD. This includes tuition, room and board, and all fees.

I have just been here for one semester but there is a course which was added recently and I liked it. Scholarship IST: it focuses on improving communication skills which will be important for a data analyst.

Fees

Around 100000-12000$ for the whole degree. This does not include the scholarship. If you live outside campus you'll save a bunch of money. One can also work part-time and earn about 1000$ a month which can easily cover rent and living expenses.

The course is really good and flexible in terms of choosing electives that has a provision to opt for cross department electives and make sure you students study what they desire to study. Mandatorily, it promotes regular Lab session and tests to ensure students are on track, and scoring less doesn't make you low but makes you strong for future.
