- Undergraduate Early Decision I closes 3 November 2026 for Fall 2027, SLU’s primary intake.

Saint Louis University Application Deadlines for Indian Students
Saint Louis University operates Fall and Spring intakes. Fall (August) is the primary intake where the widest set of undergraduate and graduate programs open, and Spring (January) admits a narrower slice of graduate programs on rolling review. Undergraduate applicants can choose Early Decision I (binding), Early Action (non-binding), Early Decision II (binding), or Regular Decision.
Saint Louis University’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (August 2027) - most programs open here. Dates below are drawn from the official SLU international admissions page, the SLU freshman deadlines page, and Common App’s own published 2026-27 cycle opening.

Saint Louis University Eligibility for Indian Students
Eligibility at Saint Louis University sits at academic-threshold plus English-proficiency floors. Master’s admission is decided at the department level, so program-specific prerequisites (foundation credits, a quantitative background, a research statement) may layer on top of the institution-wide minimums.
- UG general entry: Class XII completed at around 65% or higher, with a college-preparatory subject spread across English, mathematics, sciences, and social sciences.
- PG general entry: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a GPA of 3.0 on 4.0, which maps to roughly 60 to 65% in Indian marking.
- English scores: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80, TOEFL PBT 550, PTE 54, or Duolingo 110.
- Alternate proof: SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing 550, or ACT English section 21.
The English requirement pairs with a mandatory on-arrival writing placement exam that every admitted student sits, regardless of citizenship. Applicants who fall short on IELTS or TOEFL can enter through the INTO Saint Louis University English Language Program, a conditional pathway that runs alongside academic coursework and clears the language floor before full matriculation.
Saint Louis University English Test Waivers for Indian Applicants
Indian applicants are eligible for an English test waiver in two specific situations. First, applicants who completed their entire high school curriculum in English medium, regardless of school location, may submit official documentation in place of an IELTS or TOEFL score. Second, applicants who have completed a college-level English course (not an ESL course) at an accredited US college or university satisfy the requirement outright.
The blanket country-of-citizenship exemption (Australia, UK, Ireland, and similar) does not cover Indian passport holders, so most Indian applicants will submit a test score. See the accepted-tests table in the PG section below.

Chaifetz MBA at Saint Louis University
The Chaifetz School of Business runs three MBA formats aimed at different applicant profiles. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis once complete, and admissions decisions typically land within two weeks. The GMAT and GRE are optional, and waivers based on work experience or prior academic performance can be requested by writing to gradbiz@slu.edu.
Saint Louis University MBA Formats and Fees
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-Year MBA (full-time) | 11 months (3 terms) | Bachelor’s degree, GPA 3.0 on 4.0, no work experience required, business background not required | IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80 |
| Professional MBA (part-time) | 2 to 4 years | Bachelor’s degree, professional work experience preferred | IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80 |
| Executive MBA | 20 months | Bachelor’s degree with substantial senior professional experience | IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80 |
The One-Year MBA fee sits at USD 43,800 (INR 41.90 Lakhs) for the full 48-credit programme. Every MBA applicant sits an interview, which also functions as an English-proficiency check for candidates whose test scores are borderline. For scholarship options that reduce out-of-pocket outlay see the funding options for Indian students.
Insider note: The One-Year MBA runs summer through spring, so a Fall 2027 start means summer 2027 coursework begins as early as May. Indian applicants should account for this compressed timing when requesting transcripts and interview slots.
Saint Louis University PhD Programs and Funding
Doctoral admission at Saint Louis University is decided by the individual department, and most PhD tracks target a 15 January priority deadline for full funding consideration in the following Fall. Nearly all fully-funded PhD offers arrive as a graduate assistantship package covering tuition, a stipend, and health insurance in exchange for teaching or research contribution.
The SLU Diversity Fellowship layers on top of departmental support for high-nominee candidates and carries an 11-month stipend of USD 31,500 (INR 30.13 Lakhs), 18 hours of tuition scholarship in the academic year, three hours in summer, and continuous health insurance. Fellows are nominated by their department chair, not through open application.
- Application deadline: 15 January 2027 for Fall 2027 admission with funding priority.
- Required materials: Bachelor’s or Master’s transcripts, three letters of recommendation (Ph.D. requires three), CV, and a statement of professional goals.
- Test scores: GRE is recommended, not required, for STEM PhD tracks.
- Interview: Faculty interviews are common but scheduled after the initial application review.
Saint Louis University Application Process
The application process at Saint Louis University runs on two distinct tracks. Undergraduate applicants file through the Common Application (which opened 31 July 2026 for the 2026-27 cycle) or through SLU’s own free online form. Graduate applicants file directly through the SLU graduate application portal at gradapply.slu.edu, which routes to the appropriate department for review.
- Choose the platform: Undergraduate uses Common App (opened 31 July 2026 for Fall 2027) or the free SLU online application. Graduate, MBA, and PhD applicants use gradapply.slu.edu.
- Complete the online application form with personal, academic, and program-choice details.
- Upload academic records in English translation, including Class X, Class XII, and bachelor’s mark sheets and degree certificates where applicable.
- Submit English test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo) with SLU’s ETS code 6629 for TOEFL, or arrange direct dispatch from the testing agency.
- Attach supporting documents: personal essay (undergraduate), statement of professional goals (graduate), CV or resume, and 1 to 3 letters of recommendation depending on the program.
- Pay the application fee where applicable. Undergraduate applicants pay no application fee. Graduate programs charge a program-specific fee, payable on the SLU graduate portal at the point of submission.
- Attend the interview where required (MBA all formats, some PhD tracks).
Saint Louis University Admission Decisions and Timeline
Undergraduate Early Decision I decisions begin 1 December 2026, Early Action decisions land by 1 February 2027, and Regular Decision applicants who file by 16 March 2027 hear back by 15 April 2027. Saint Louis University Acceptance Rate
Saint Louis University reports an undergraduate acceptance rate of around 75 to 82%, placing it in the access-oriented tier of US private universities that admit most applicants meeting stated academic and English floors. This does not mean automatic entry, since the strongest STEM, nursing, and health-sciences majors carry sharper internal cutoffs than the institutional headline suggests.
Saint Louis University Admission Yield for Indian Applicants
Indian applicants who meet the Class XII 65% threshold, hit IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80, and file complete documentation before the priority date typically clear the review. Selective majors (Nursing, Aerospace Engineering, Pre-Med Biology) shift the effective cutoff up by roughly 5 to 10 percentage points. Graduate acceptance is department-decided and tracks GPA, prior CS or engineering coursework, and letters of recommendation more heavily than headline metrics.
Saint Louis University Ranking Context for Indian Applicants
SLU sits at QS World University Rankings 2027 #1001-1200 and Times Higher Education 2026 #401-500, with US News placing it at #102 among Best National Universities 2026 and #53 among Best Value Schools. See the detailed ranking band for subject-level positions and five-year trend.
Insider note: The 75 to 82% headline hides a bimodal distribution. Applicants with sub-60% Class XII or IELTS below 6.0 are routinely deferred to the INTO SLU pathway rather than admitted directly, so effective direct-entry yield for Indian applicants sits below the published number.
USA Student Visa Process for Saint Louis University
Every Indian student headed to Saint Louis University enters on the F-1 non-immigrant student visa. The process starts only after SLU issues the Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status), which requires proof of admission and financial capacity to cover one academic year of tuition and living costs.
Applicants pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of USD 350 (INR 33,481), complete the DS-160 online visa form, book a slot at the US Embassy in Delhi or a consulate in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, or Hyderabad, pay the MRV visa fee of USD 185 (INR 17,697), and attend the visa interview. Standard documents are the I-20, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS payment receipt, passport, admission letter, financial proof, and academic records. On arrival in the US, students report to SLU’s Office of International Services within 30 days for post-arrival SEVIS registration.
2026 update: The US Embassy in India has expanded student visa slot availability for the summer window, but Fall 2027 applicants should still target visa interview booking by April 2027 to buffer against rescheduling.

Tips and Checklist for Saint Louis University Admissions
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Saint Louis University, and combine timeline-anchored actions with insight items specific to SLU’s Jesuit-university character and rolling graduate review.
- Start transcripts 8 weeks before deadline: Indian university transcript offices routinely take 4 to 6 weeks to issue certified copies for direct-to-university dispatch.
- Book IELTS or TOEFL by August 2026: for a Fall 2027 start, sitting the test early leaves room for a re-take if you fall short of 6.5 or 80.
- File Undergraduate Early Action by 1 December 2026: the non-binding EA round preserves your option to compare offers while giving an earlier decision.
- Submit graduate applications 2 to 3 months before the deadline: departments read on rolling review, and assistantship funding is allocated on a first-in, first-considered basis.
- Request the GMAT waiver in advance: for the Chaifetz MBA, email gradbiz@slu.edu with your work profile before you begin the application, not after.
- Draft the SLU statement of professional goals to under 500 words: the One-Year MBA cap is 500 words, and other graduate programmes prefer tight, specific statements.
- Line up letter writers by October 2026: academic and professional recommenders need lead time and a copy of your CV to write substantively.
- Prepare financial proof for USD 65,000 plus: the I-20 needs documentation covering at least one full academic year of tuition and living costs.
- Book the F-1 visa interview 60 days after admission: as soon as the I-20 arrives, pay SEVIS and book the earliest available embassy slot.
Saint Louis University combines an access-oriented undergraduate profile with department-decided graduate admission, and Indian applicants who meet the Class XII 65% or GPA 3.0 threshold plus IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80 clear the institutional bar. The next binding deadline is Undergraduate Early Decision I on 3 November 2026, and the primary Fall 2027 graduate window closes 1 June 2027 for STEM master’s, with MBA and PhD tracks reviewing on rolling schedules.

- Not everybody get student aid if the person having best grades may also get lesser student aid compared to campus toppers sometimes.
- As it is private university tuition fee is more compared to other public universities.
- As saint louis is more populated by most of minorities Americans lot of people take car parts which is theft, happens even inside the campus as well.
Scholarship
- I received a scholarship for my course. every course has its own eligibility, which includes merit-based awards like the Vice President's Scholarship, University Scholarship, Ignatian Scholarship, and Billiken Scholarship.
- I received initially $5000, and later on during my Graduate assistantship I got cut off from some of my scholarship, which I used for my off-campus living.
- Yes, some of my friends received a $10000 scholarship, depending on what programme we preferred to study and the amount of funds remaining with the university to provide for students.
- On average, every 7 people in 10 receive scholarships, as this university has research facilities so they get lots of funds from different organisations, which they use for scholarships for students.

- Most of the times university doesn't provide any of the paid software which are mandatory to complete that course.
Scholarship
- I received a 4000$ as graduation scholarship during my admission process. Later I was provided with overall 5000$ additional discount as I started working as graduate teaching assistant.

- My batchmates received 12000$ as well they did their admission process through a third-party university associated vendor called "INTO SLU". - Coursework is advanced and different from Health Informatics in other universities.
Dislikes
- Getting paid less for the TA and RA positions and there's no reduction in tuition fee for TA and RA positions.
- Less interaction between instructor and student outside the classroom hours. Occasional events to break the ice would have improved interaction among students and instructors.
- Coursework is designed to be future ready but they haven't focused on current market requirements.
Scholarship
- Our department didn't offer any type of scholarship to the students. The only offer we were given is that we paid only USD 350/- for the first 3 credits. But other programs like Information Systems and Computer Sciences got huge scholarships with amounts ranging from USD 4000/- to USD 15,000/-. I am not sure if this trend is being continued now or not, but almost everyone got some or the other type of scholarship from the university.
- Apart from the scholarships, the university also provides financial aid to students. Regular updates will be given to the university email. The University Financial Services office in the Dubourg Hall helps students with their fee statement queries.

Additionally, the campus facilities and resources contribute to a conducive learning environment, making it an enriching experience overall.

- Overall, there isn't much to dislike about Saint Louis University. However, some students may find the cost of tuition to be a drawback, and others might feel that certain facilities could be improved. Nonetheless, these are minor concerns compared to the overall positive experience the university provides.

- The course I choose is available at limited colleges only and this college has a really good name. The expenses at the place is economical and budget friendly. Moreover I also got the scholarship. These reasons made me to choose this university.
- First thing about the positives of the college that I like is the location. The college is located at the centre of the city which makes it easy to commute. The curriculum provided by the college is really flexible and the staff are really friendly. There are very supportive international ambassasdors to help you to customize your courses. One really good thing about the Saint Louis University is they provide free cabs to the students who live around the campus after 6:00 pm.
Dislikes
- One bad thing about Saint Louis University is its crime rate.Since it is located near the downtown, one should be really careful at the surroundings. The other thing I dislike about this college is the fee waiver. In other colleges if you get a TA position, your fee will be waived for that semester but in SLU, we don't have that kind of fee waivers. Apart from these, I feel the college is really good.
Overview
It's a good experience overall for me. Coming to the flexible classes, college placements, economical life style and for many other reasons I feel its really good.
Scholarship
Anyone applying to SLU is directly eligible for the college scholarship which is given based on their undergrad CGPA. I have given 5000$ of scholarship for my entire masters program.
