University of New Haven Application Deadlines for Indian Students
The University of New Haven runs a two-intake calendar for Indian students: Fall (August) is the primary intake and Spring (January) is the smaller secondary window. Applications continue on rolling review after the priority date, but early submission improves scholarship and I-20 processing chances. Deadlines below are from the official UNH international dates and deadlines page.
University of New Haven’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (August) — the majority of PG programs, including all Fall-only cohorts, open here.
| Intake | Level | App Opens | Priority Deadline | App Fee | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spring 2027 | Graduate | Rolling (open now) | 15 October 2026 | $50 (₹4,725) | UNH Portal |
| Spring 2027 | Undergraduate | Rolling (open now) | 1 November 2026 | via Common App | Common App |
| Fall 2027 (Primary intake) | Graduate | Rolling (open now) | 1 May 2027 | $50 (₹4,725) | UNH Portal |
| Fall 2027 (Primary intake) | Undergraduate | Rolling (open now) | 1 May 2027 | via Common App | Common App |
Fall-only PG programs. The following do not admit in Spring and must target Fall entry only: M.S. Forensic Science, M.S. Forensic Technology, M.S. Medical Laboratory Science, M.S. Nutrition Sciences, M.S. Occupational Therapy, M.S. Speech-Language Pathology, M.S./M.M.S. Physician Associate Medicine, Executive MBA, Criminal Justice Ph.D., and Doctor of Health Sciences (Online).
Planning note: Indian applicants should file well before priority to leave room for WES evaluation and F-1 visa slots — 8 to 10 weeks earlier is a safe buffer.
University of New Haven Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility at UNH is split across undergraduate and graduate levels, with a further split by college for English scores. Indian applicants meet institution-wide floors first, then program-specific prerequisites layered on top. Percentage benchmarks below reflect competitive-admit patterns, not published cut-offs.
UNH Undergraduate Eligibility for Indian Applicants
- Academic floor: Class XII from a recognised Indian board with an aggregate around 65 to 70 percent.
- Subject prerequisites: Mathematics through Class XII for STEM and Business majors.
- Standardised tests: SAT and ACT are test-optional for most UG programs.
UNH Graduate Eligibility for Indian Applicants
- Bachelor’s degree: 4-year bachelor’s with 60 percent or above (roughly 3.0 GPA).
- 3-year bachelor’s: Accepted with WES evaluation, or with an additional Master’s / PG Diploma.
- Semester-wise mark sheets are required; consolidated transcripts are not sufficient.
- Programme-specific prerequisites apply for health sciences and forensic tracks.
English Language Test Requirements at UNH
UNH English Test Waiver for Indian Students
Undergraduate applicants can meet the English requirement using an SAT EBRW score of 450 or higher in place of an IELTS or TOEFL score. Indian students from CBSE, ICSE, or state-board schools with confirmed English-medium instruction should email the international admissions office to request a case-by-case waiver review, as UNH considers medium-of-instruction (MOI) evidence for some applicants.
Insider note: The SAT EBRW pathway is the cleanest waiver route for Indian UG applicants who already have SAT scores. It removes the need for a separate IELTS or Duolingo booking.
University of New Haven PG Programs and English Score Requirements
Graduate programmes at UNH split across five colleges, with health sciences and forensic sciences drawing the largest Indian cohorts. Base graduate tuition sits at $21,330 per year (around ₹20.16 Lakhs) for the standard PG rate; per-credit rates vary by cohort. See our detailed fee breakdown for course-wise tuition and living-cost planning.

Base UG tuition is $49,340 per year (around ₹46.63 Lakhs), plus a general fee of $1,930 (₹1.82 Lakhs). Class XII marks and English scores are the decisive criteria — SAT and ACT are optional for most programmes.

| Bachelor’s — School of Health Sciences | 4 years | Class XII around 70 percent with Biology and Chemistry | IELTS 6.0 |
All UG applications route through the Common Application. Indian applicants without an SAT score can still apply — most UNH UG majors are test-optional, but a competitive Class XII aggregate and predicted-grade profile become more important in that case.
University of New Haven MBA Admissions
Pompea College of Business runs two MBA formats for Indian applicants: the Professional MBA (open to recent graduates and mid-career changers) and the Executive MBA (Fall-only cohort for working professionals). Both are STEM-designated in select concentrations, extending OPT eligibility to 36 months for Indian students.
UNH Professional MBA Fees and Requirements
Professional MBA tuition is billed at $1,185 per credit, with a total cost around $45,622 (₹43.10 Lakhs) for the full programme. Entry needs a 4-year bachelor’s with 60 percent or above; GMAT and GRE requirements are typically waived when a solid academic record and work experience are demonstrated — confirm the current test policy on the program page.
UNH Executive MBA Format and Cohort
The Executive MBA is priced at $1,552 per credit, totalling around $59,752 (₹56.47 Lakhs), and admits only in Fall. It is built for candidates with substantial management experience, delivered in a hybrid weekend format that suits professionals already working in the US.
UNH MBA Application Rounds and Deadlines
| Intake | Priority Deadline | Rolling Window |
|---|---|---|
| Fall 2027 (Primary intake) | 1 May 2027 | Rolling after priority, subject to seat availability |
| Spring 2027 (Professional MBA only) | 15 October 2026 | Rolling until class fills |
Insider note: Indian MBA applicants often layer the UNH Dean’s Merit scholarship into their aid package — see funding options for Indian students in our scholarship guide.
University of New Haven PhD Admissions
Doctoral admissions at UNH sit in three tracks: Criminal Justice Ph.D., Doctor of Health Sciences (online), and select clinical doctorates. All PhD-level programmes admit only in Fall and demand a stronger English score, IELTS 7.5 or TOEFL 100, alongside a Master’s degree.
UNH Ph.D. Application Timeline
- Fall 2027 priority is 1 May 2027; earlier submission improves funding chances.
- Applications include a research statement and typically two to three LORs.
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited for a video interview with faculty.
UNH Doctoral Funding for International Students
Ph.D. applicants are considered for department-level assistantships and tuition waivers, decided at admission. Indian doctoral candidates should ask the programme coordinator about tuition remission and stipend eligibility once shortlisted — see our funding for Indian students writeup for the current landscape.
University of New Haven Application Process
The application flow differs by level: undergraduate applicants submit through the Common Application, while graduate applicants apply directly on the UNH graduate portal. Both routes are online, single-step, and open to Indian students on a rolling basis after the priority date.
- Choose your route. Undergraduate applicants create a Common App account and add University of New Haven. Graduate applicants register on the UNH graduate applicant portal.
- Complete the online form with personal, academic, and financial-support details.
- Upload documents: transcripts, degree certificate, English test score, SOP, LORs, resume, and passport bio-page.
- Pay the application fee of $50 (around ₹4,725) on the UNH graduate portal for PG applicants. UG applicants pay the Common App fee at submission.
- Order the WES or ECE evaluation if you hold a 3-year bachelor’s or if your programme mandates it (M.S. Nutrition Sciences requires WES).
- Track admission decision in the applicant portal. Decisions typically arrive within 4 to 6 weeks after a complete file is received.
- Accept the offer by paying the $1,000 (₹94,500) enrolment deposit before your I-20 is issued.
- Receive I-20 after financial documents are verified, then book the F-1 visa interview.
Planning note: Book the WES evaluation 6 to 8 weeks before the priority deadline. Indian transcripts require semester-wise mark sheets sent directly by the university, and this leg alone can take 3 weeks.
University of New Haven Documents Required for Indian Students
UNH accepts scanned uploads for the initial application, with certified originals required at enrolment. Indian applicants have three extra items over the standard US applicant list: semester-wise mark sheets, a WES evaluation for 3-year bachelor’s holders, and financial documentation supporting the I-20.
- Passport bio-page scan valid at least six months beyond programme start.
- Class X, XII, and Bachelor’s semester-wise mark sheets (consolidated sheets are not accepted).
- Degree certificate or provisional for graduate applicants.
- WES or ECE evaluation for 3-year bachelor’s degrees or where the programme requires it.
- English proficiency score report sent to UNH’s institution code.
- Statement of Purpose (1 to 2 pages).
- Two Letters of Recommendation from academic or professional referees.
- Updated CV or resume covering academics, work, and projects.
- Financial declaration and bank statement or affidavit of support for I-20 issuance.
- Passport-size photographs as specified in the application portal.
University of New Haven Acceptance Rate
University of New Haven does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place the admit rate between 88 and 91 percent, based on competitive-intake program patterns and reported cohort sizes across the last three cycles. Indian applicants meeting the base academic and English floors are on strong footing, but selective PG programmes (Occupational Therapy, Physician Associate) admit tighter cohorts.
UNH Admission Selectivity by Program Group
- Business and engineering PG: broadly access-oriented — most eligible applicants secure a decision.
- Clinical health sciences (OT, PA, SLP): significantly tighter, with cohort caps and prerequisite screening.
- Ph.D. and doctoral programmes: most competitive, driven by faculty match and funding budgets.
What Improves an Indian Applicant’s Chances
Beyond hitting the academic floor, three factors move an Indian file up the queue: submission well before priority, a targeted SOP with programme-specific research or work interests, and strong LORs that speak to lab, project, or workplace outputs. Read the university’s ranking band and subject strengths to shape a programme-matched narrative.
Reality check: UNH’s high admit rate reflects a broad, access-oriented graduate model — but clinical health sciences and STEM-designated tracks behave much more selectively. Do not assume the institutional average carries into every programme.
University of New Haven Visa Guide: USA F-1 Student Visa
Indian admits to UNH apply for the F-1 student visa, the standard non-immigrant visa for full-time academic study in the US. The process runs in three legs: I-20 issuance by UNH after enrolment deposit, SEVIS I-901 fee payment, and DS-160 form plus embassy interview at a US consulate in India.
Financial documentation is the linchpin of an F-1 file. Indian applicants must show liquid funds covering the first year of tuition plus living costs — this includes bank statements, education-loan sanction letters, and affidavits of support. Post-arrival, students activate SEVIS status within 30 days and can access on-campus work up to 20 hours a week, plus OPT for 12 months after graduation (36 months for STEM-designated programmes).
Standard steps for Indian applicants:
- Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee ($350, around ₹33,075).
- Complete the DS-160 form and pay the visa application fee.
- Book a visa slot at a US consulate in India (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, or Hyderabad).
- Attend the interview with I-20, financial documents, and academic records.
See the full US F-1 and J-1 student visa guide for slot booking tips and interview questions Indian applicants face most often.
2026 update: Consular slots for Fall 2027 tend to fill by March 2027 — begin the DS-160 the same week the I-20 arrives, and target an interview date at least 60 days before your programme start.
University of New Haven Admissions Tips and Checklist
The following tips and checklist steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at UNH across recent cycles. They cover sequencing and decisions rather than paperwork already listed under Documents Required.
- Target Fall as your primary intake — every Fall-only PG programme (OT, PA, SLP, Forensic Science) is inaccessible in Spring.
- File 4 to 6 weeks before priority — earlier files see faster decisions and better scholarship consideration.
- Order WES 8 weeks out if you hold a 3-year bachelor’s or apply to Nutrition Sciences.
- Book IELTS or TOEFL by December for a May priority deadline, allowing a re-take buffer.
- Ask about MOI waivers only when your school clearly delivered instruction in English through Class XII.
- Draft the SOP around programme fit, not general US-study motivation — UNH admissions read for specificity.
- Line up the $1,000 enrolment deposit ahead of decision to move fast on I-20 issuance.
- Compare living-cost planning in the USA cost of living guide before choosing accommodation.
Read the study MBA in the USA guide if you are weighing UNH’s Professional MBA against peers on deadlines and documentation.
Fall is where most PG programmes at University of New Haven admit, and Indian applicants who file 4 to 6 weeks before the priority date get the widest funding window. Line up the WES evaluation, English score, and SOP first — the rest of the file assembles quickly on the UNH portal or Common App.

- I received a scholarship for 20% of the tuition fee.
- Some of my friends received scholarships in their 3rd semester where they were granted almost 90%.

Overview
I chose this university because this is one in my budget range and has a good reputation among all the admits I received. I would rate an overall of 7 for 10. The campus has good resources like labs, libraries, a career development centre, and many more to use for the sake of students. I am very passionate about data-driven decision making so I opted for Business analytics as my major.

- I like the infrastructure and the library, I also like the gym at the university.
- Its good and faculty is also good but you need to be very competitive for applying jobs.
Dislikes
- Placements are not good.
- They need to improve in placements side and offer good placements to students specially international students.
Overview
In term of curriculum it was good but in terms of placements it was not so good you need to improve your skills and job search by yourself. My main factor was scholarship and easy admission without any rejection.

- 1. Good scholarships. 2. One of the few universities that consider MPH under STEM course. 3. Great location other than cold winters.
- The best thing about University of newhaven is its library services and workshops for improving skills, the recreation centre and gym, very easy to get around the campus.
Dislikes
- I think the curriculum could have been more challenging for MPH in particular. College improved me with new knowledge & friends! However, the workload can be intense at times.

It was a good experience. A good place is not its location but its people. I was fortunate to have met good friends and good professors which made my time in Connecticut special. I have gained immense valuable knowledge working on campus and meeting new people from different educational backgrounds.

Dislikes
- The amenities and resources for the students to access are minimal and the graduate university lacks in diversity as most of them are from India which reduces the opportunity to interact with students from different countries.

Dislikes
- First come first basis scholarships. I believe, it should be based on merit and course the student applied.
- Doesn’t have diversified culture and class size is huge.
- Enormous competition from India for on - campus and it literally feels like you are in Indian university.
Overview
Firstly, the University of New Haven is my safe option. I applied to different universities like Ucinn, SUNY Buffalo and George Mason. Although I got admitted to UCinn and RIT, considering the fee factor, I opted for UNH. But I regret coming here. It's not a happening university. High competition for On-campus and hated the scholarship process. This is the procedure for admission: Three LORs, SOP, GRE score ( not mandatory), IELTS. Apply on the college website, and usually, we get the decision in 2-4 weeks.
Scholarship
I specifically didn't apply for a scholarship. While applying for the graduate program, they gave us the dean scholarship ( I don't know what the basis was; firstly, I thought it was merit, but after coming here, most of my friends who had very less cgpa and were completely from different field got 50% scholarship).
Overview
"SOP: General idea of why you’re pursuing the field, why you’re applying to this university, what makes you a perfect fit. LOR, & Resume" Scholarship, networking opportunities, location (close to newyork and boston), faculty (excellent for my course) It has been great. I love the application based nature of my program. There is a huge indian population which may make it easier for people who’re more comfortable with indians. Yale University is a 10 minute drive from the university this means we’re exposed to a lot of events, opportunities from Yale.
Scholarship
50% scholarship. No special application, awarded dean’s scholarship with offer letter.
