Master of Science [MS] (Data Science and Analytics)
Field of Study:
$48,195 /Yr
Georgia State University Master of Science in Data Science & Analytics is a STEM-designated graduate programme offering full-time 12-month and part-time 24-month formats in Atlanta. Classes are offered at the Buckhead Center with simulcast flexibility, and applicants need a bachelor’s degree equivalent to a four-year U.S. degree. Fall 2027 tuition is unpublished; 2026-27 tuition was US$51,083 (INR 48.75 Lakhs), as a prior-cycle reference.
The M.S.A. (Master of Science in Analytics) trains students in Python, machine learning, deep learning and generative AI for business decisions. Its Data Scientist and Citizen Data Scientist pathways use Insight Sprints with real company data, so applicants need either quantitative preparation or strong business communication. The fast, lock-step format suits applicants ready for an intensive analytics transition, while its compressed schedule leaves less room to repair missing calculus or programming foundations.
- Students can pursue Data Science in Business or Legal Analytics concentrations.
- Boot camps cover R, Tableau, SAS, Spark, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
- An optional summer internship can add a work-based project between the core semesters.
Current Admission Status
Applications for the Fall 2027 intake are Not Yet Open. International student deadline: 15 March 2027.
The deadline is officially announced, but the programme page has not published a Fall 2027 opening date. Indian applicants should prepare transcripts, English scores and financial documents before the portal opens because Round 3 is the hard international cutoff.

Georgia State MS Data Science Fees and Living Costs 2027
Fall 2027 tuition is not yet published for Georgia State’s Data Science & Analytics M.S.A. The latest official FY2027 programme figure is a 2026-27 reference, so Indian applicants should not treat it as a confirmed 2027 charge.
Fee status: The table uses the official FY2027 out-of-country programme amount, application fee and seat deposit as prior-cycle references. Verify the target fee on the official tuition fee page before accepting an offer.
| Fee item | Official amount | INR equivalent | Applicant meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Programme tuition, FY2027 reference | US$51,083 | INR 48.75 Lakhs | Out-of-country total programme cost for the 2026-27 reference year |
| Application fee | US$50 | INR 4,772 | Paid with the graduate application |
| Nonrefundable seat deposit | US$250 | INR 23,858 | Payable after an offer under the published programme terms |
Source: Georgia State University Robinson College of Business programme and FY2027 tuition materials.
All INR conversions in the article use a conversion rate of USD 1 = INR 95.4309 as of 14 August 2026. Rates fluctuate daily, verify before applying.
- The FY2027 tuition figure is useful for budgeting but cannot establish Fall 2027 tuition.
- The application fee is separate from tuition, while the seat deposit is nonrefundable under the published programme terms.
- A target-cycle budget should be refreshed after Georgia State publishes the 2027-28 rate and any revised mandatory charges.
Cost of Living in Atlanta for Data Science Students
Georgia State’s 2026-27 cost-of-attendance estimate separates housing, food, personal expenses and transportation for an off-campus graduate student. The monthly figures below divide the published annual estimates by 12, while the annual column preserves the source basis.
| Expense | Monthly (US$) | Monthly (INR) | Annual (US$) | Annual (INR) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Housing | US$1,043.52 | INR 99,584 | US$12,522.23 | INR 11.95 Lakhs |
| Food | US$372.17 | INR 35,516 | US$4,466 | INR 4.26 Lakhs |
| Personal expenses | US$366.20 | INR 34,947 | US$4,394.38 | INR 4.19 Lakhs |
| Transportation | US$257.39 | INR 24,563 | US$3,088.67 | INR 2.95 Lakhs |
| Total living estimate | US$2,039.27 | INR 1.95 Lakhs | US$24,471.28 | INR 23.35 Lakhs |
For a prior-cycle planning illustration, the combined amount is US$75,854.28 (INR 72.39 Lakhs). The arithmetic is US$51,083 (INR 48.75 Lakhs) tuition + US$24,471.28 (INR 23.35 Lakhs) living + US$50 (INR 4,772) application + US$250 (INR 23,858) deposit.
This calculated amount excludes insurance or charges not explicitly included in the programme total. Recalculate it after Fall 2027 tuition, fees and funding terms are released.

Key insight: Because target tuition is unpublished, treat INR 72.39 Lakhs as a prior-cycle planning illustration and keep a funding buffer until the 2027 fee is confirmed.
Georgia State MS Data Science Admission 2027
Admission uses two preparation pathways rather than a published numeric grade-point average (GPA) cutoff. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree equivalent to a four-year U.S. degree, and the Data Scientist path requires specific mathematics and programming preparation.
Indian transcripts are reviewed for equivalency, so course titles and syllabi should make that preparation easy to verify. The university requires English-test evidence unless an approved English-language degree waiver applies, while GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and GRE (Graduate Record Examination) scores are not required.
Academic Eligibility and Track Fit
The table separates the official preparation signals for each pathway and identifies what Indian applicants should document before applying.
| Applicant profile | Official preparation | Work experience | Indian applicant action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Scientist | STEM bachelor’s, Calculus I, II and III including multivariate calculus, Linear Algebra and Basic Programming | 18 months recommended, not required | Map each prerequisite to a transcript course and explain any programming projects |
| Citizen Data Scientist | Business, psychology, health, political science or communications background, with statistics, business knowledge and communication skills | 18 months recommended, not required | Show domain expertise and explain how Python preparation supports the analytics transition |
| All applicants | Equivalent four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree and complete academic transcripts | Not required | Provide degree records and supporting explanations for international credential review |
The programme does not publish a course-specific numeric GPA minimum, so the prerequisite pattern matters more than an invented score target. Applicants missing Calculus III or Linear Algebra should resolve that gap before choosing the Data Scientist pathway.
- Use the Data Scientist pathway when your transcript already supports multivariate mathematics and programming.
- Use the Citizen Data Scientist pathway when domain knowledge and communication are stronger than formal computer science preparation.
- Explain the recommended 18 months of experience as evidence of applied readiness rather than as a mandatory threshold.
English Language Proficiency (ELP)
English language proficiency (ELP) is a separate international-admission requirement. ELP evidence confirms that an applicant can follow graduate instruction and complete the programme’s technical communication demands.
| Route | Official requirement | Indian applicant action |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS | 6.5 or higher | Submit the official score and check whether every component meets any portal requirement |
| TOEFL | 90 or higher; the current international page does not state a score scale | Confirm the accepted TOEFL scale for Fall 2027 before booking the test |
| English-language degree waiver | Degree from an accredited institution in the university’s approved English-official country list | Check the country list and prepare institutional proof before relying on a waiver |
The current official page publishes IELTS 6.5 and TOEFL 90 minimums but does not publish a post-January 2026 TOEFL scale policy. Indian applicants should verify the live scale and component rules when the Fall 2027 application opens.
- Book IELTS early when you need a predictable 6.5 route and time for a retest.
- Ask the university to confirm the TOEFL scale in writing before submitting a score near the published minimum.
- Use the waiver only after the approved country list and your degree documentation match.
Tip for Indian students: Georgia State does not publish a numeric GPA floor for this course, so document the exact mathematics, programming or domain courses that support your chosen pathway.
Georgia State MS Data Science Application 2027
Fall 2027 is the announced applicant-accessible cycle, and the programme publishes six application rounds. International applicants who need a visa must apply by Round 3, so earlier rounds provide more time for admission, deposit and immigration preparation.
Published application schedule: The current international schedule is available on the university’s graduate admissions deadlines page. Georgia State lists dates but does not state a daily cutoff time or timezone on the page.
| Fall 2027 stage | Application deadline | Decision notification | Deposit deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | 26 October 2026 | 18 December 2026 | 8 January 2027 |
| Round 2 | 25 January 2027 | 19 March 2027 | 16 April 2027 |
| Round 3, international visa cutoff | 15 March 2027 | 7 May 2027 | 4 June 2027 |
| Round 4 | 10 May 2027 | 10 June 2027 | 9 July 2027 |
| Round 5 | 12 July 2027 | Not published on the current page | Not published on the current page |
| Round 6 | Rolling | Rolling | 30 July 2027 |
For Indian applicants, Round 3 is the practical final date because visa applicants must apply no later than that round. Use the university’s published calendar date as controlling because an exact cutoff time and timezone conversion are not provided.
- Target Round 1 when you need the longest period for visa processing and funding decisions.
- Use Round 2 when you need additional preparation time but still want a published decision date before the Round 3 cutoff.
- Treat Round 4 and later rounds as riskier for international relocation because the visa deadline has already passed.
Application Components
The application requires an online form, transcripts, a personal statement, a resume and a mandatory video interview. Optional essays and recommendation letters can add context when the core record does not show track readiness.
- Submit the online application with the US$50 (INR 4,772) nonrefundable application fee.
- Complete the mandatory video interview because the programme provides one interview opportunity for the application.
- Upload transcripts and a personal statement that connect your preparation to either the Data Scientist or Citizen Data Scientist pathway.
- Add a resume, optional essay and optional recommendation letters when they clarify experience that transcripts cannot show.
Test Strategy
GMAT and GRE scores are not required, so applicants should spend preparation time on prerequisite evidence and the video interview. Optional scores may help when coursework, work history or scholarship consideration needs additional academic context.
Application tip: Build the Fall 2027 file around Round 1 or Round 2, then reserve Round 3 as the visa cutoff rather than treating the later rolling stage as equivalent.
Georgia State MS Data Science Scholarships 2027
Georgia State lists named Robinson College of Business scholarships, but the public page does not publish a Fall 2027 award value or deadline for each one. Indian applicants should therefore use the eligibility rules to identify plausible awards without subtracting an unconfirmed amount from tuition.
Current published awards: The following scholarships offer identifiable application routes or selection criteria, while their target-cycle amounts and deadlines require confirmation through the graduate funding process.
| Scholarship | Applicant profile | Application route or timing |
|---|---|---|
| Baker Family Distinguished Student Award | Robinson graduate student in good standing with outstanding achievement | Faculty nomination through Robinson; target-cycle deadline is not published |
| Bikulege Family Foundation Master’s Fellowship | Incoming or current Robinson master’s student with high academic achievement | Selection committee process; target-cycle amount and deadline are not published |
| Northern Trust Endowed Scholarship | Graduate student in good standing with GPA 3.0 or higher and financial need | Scholarship application route; check citizenship and residency conditions before applying |
| Robert B. Bailey Jr Empowerment Scholarship | Robinson undergraduate or graduate student with GPA 3.0 or higher, financial need and an underserved-community commitment | Scholarship application route; target-cycle deadline is not published |
Because award amounts are not stated for the target cycle, treat these scholarships as funding opportunities rather than guaranteed reductions. Prepare a concise financial-need explanation and evidence of achievement before the university releases the relevant application window.
Graduate Assistantship Funding
Graduate assistantship (GA) funding is the clearest quantified funding route on the programme’s current materials. A GA can combine a tuition waiver and stipend, but the university describes selection as highly selective and excludes health insurance from the estimate.
FY2027 sample reference: These figures belong to the current assistantship estimate, not confirmed Fall 2027 tuition. The table shows the published arithmetic so applicants can test whether the award would change their funding requirement.
| Funding item | Official amount | INR equivalent | Published meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Programme tuition before GA | US$51,083 | INR 48.75 Lakhs | Out-of-country sample programme cost |
| GA tuition waiver | US$15,367.50 | INR 14.67 Lakhs | Published waiver estimate |
| Programme cost with GA | US$35,715.50 | INR 34.08 Lakhs | Sample cost after the waiver |
| GA stipend estimate | US$5,000 | INR 4.77 Lakhs | Published stipend estimate |
| Remaining cost after stipend | US$30,715.50 | INR 29.31 Lakhs | Sample cost after applying the stipend |
- A completed programme application automatically receives GA consideration, so the application record must show academic and career achievement.
- GA selection also considers personal experience, interpersonal skills and leadership, which makes the resume and statement materially important.
- The assistantship estimate excludes USG health insurance, so do not treat the remaining cost as a final all-in amount.
Funding note
The GA sample shows a large tuition reduction but remains a prior-cycle planning reference because Fall 2027 tuition is unpublished. Apply early and retain funds for the full cost until an award is confirmed in writing.
Scholarship reality: Georgia State publishes a quantified GA illustration but calls selection highly selective, so Indian applicants should budget the full prior-cycle reference and treat awards as upside.
Georgia State MS Data Science Salary 2027
Published career evidence is percentage-based rather than a current median salary. The programme page reports a 57% average salary increase in its 2023 Graduate Outcomes, plus a payback measure of less than one year.
A separate Panthers On the Move Survey covering Fall 2024 to Summer 2025 reports a 27% average salary increase. No current course-level starting salary, offer rate or complete employer list is published, so these figures show reported change rather than guaranteed pay.
| Evidence scope | Published measure | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Course-level 2023 Graduate Outcomes | 57% average salary increase and average payback of investment in less than one year | Use as a reported outcome measure, not as a starting-salary promise |
| Panthers On the Move Survey, Fall 2024 to Summer 2025 | 27% average salary increase reported by graduates | Keep this separate because it covers a different survey period and measure |

ROI for Indian Applicants
The prior-cycle planning illustration totals US$75,854.28 (INR 72.39 Lakhs) before any confirmed Fall 2027 tuition or award. That figure combines the published prior-cycle tuition, official living estimate, application fee and seat deposit.
- The prior-cycle tuition reference is US$51,083 (INR 48.75 Lakhs), so request the 2027-28 rate before signing a loan or comparing repayment.
- The official 2026-27 living estimate is US$24,471.28 (INR 23.35 Lakhs), so include housing and food cash flow in the first-year funding plan.
- The 2023 Graduate Outcomes figure is a 57% average salary increase, not a salary amount, so ask for role and compensation details before modelling payback.
- The later survey reports a 27% average salary increase for a different period, so keep the two percentages separate when testing downside risk.
- The STEM designation can support a longer U.S. work window, so verify eligibility and employer requirements before treating it as a return-on-investment input.
Applicants seeking U.S. employment should model taxes, health insurance and job-search time alongside gross pay. Use the current IRS Tax Withholding Estimator for a personal take-home illustration, while India-return plans should test the same cost against a confirmed Indian role and repayment schedule.
Check Out: Georgia State University profile
ROI reality: The course reports salary increases but no current salary amount or offer rate, so confirm the 2027 tuition and build separate U.S. and India-return scenarios before borrowing.
USA Visa for Georgia State MS Data Science Students 2027
International students use the F-1 (academic student) visa after Georgia State issues an I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status). The I-20 supports the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) record, and the visa application costs US$185 (INR 17,655) while the I-901 SEVIS fee costs US$350 (INR 33,401).
Post-completion OPT (Optional Practical Training) allows up to 12 months, while STEM OPT may add 24 months when the employer and student meet federal conditions. An H-1B (specialty occupation work visa) must meet the higher of actual or prevailing wage, and permanent residence has no fixed course timeline.
F-2 (dependent) status may cover a spouse or unmarried minor child with an individual I-20. F-2 dependants cannot work, so families should model living costs without assuming spouse income.
Visa verification: Check the current requirements on the U.S. Department of State’s student visa page because issuance timing and document requirements can change.
- New student visas may be issued up to 365 days before the programme start, but entry cannot occur more than 30 days early.
- On-campus employment is limited to 20 hours per week while school is in session, so it cannot replace the full funding plan.
- STEM OPT requires an eligible degree, an E-Verify employer and Form I-983, so confirm employer compliance before relying on the extension.
- Use the Round 3 visa cutoff and the university’s deposit date when aligning admission, funding and relocation decisions.

Visa reality: The STEM designation can extend post-study work eligibility, but employment, H-1B sponsorship and permanent residence remain separate decisions with their own federal conditions.
Georgia State MS Data Science Ranking 2027
U.S. News & World Report 2026 places Georgia State’s Data Science & Analytics programme at No. 39 in the United States and No. 22 among public universities. The ranking is programme-specific, but its edition is 2026 rather than the Fall 2027 intake year.
Use the ranking as a discovery signal alongside the curriculum, Insight Sprints and reported outcomes. It does not establish admission probability, salary or a visa result, so the current programme evidence should drive the application decision.
| Ranking source | Edition | Position | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| U.S. News & World Report | 2026 | No. 39 | United States |
| U.S. News & World Report | 2026 | No. 22 | Public universities |
The two positions describe different scopes rather than conflicting results. Indian applicants should treat the programme’s track prerequisites, costs and work-window conditions as more actionable than a ranking position.
Honest take: The 2026 programme ranking adds external context, but Georgia State’s pathway fit and unpublished Fall 2027 tuition remain the decisions that require applicant action.
Georgia State’s Data Science & Analytics M.S.A. fits Indian applicants who can document either quantitative STEM preparation or business-domain communication. Insight Sprints, track choice and applied analytics training make the compressed full-time route useful for a deliberate career transition. The material tradeoff is that Fall 2027 tuition remains unpublished, while the published prior-cycle cost and living estimate require substantial upfront funding. Prepare for Round 1 or Round 2, verify the 2027-28 fee and secure a funding plan before treating the STEM work window as part of the decision.
