XIME Bangalore runs two full-time management programmes. These are the general PGDM and the PGDM-Business Analytics. Both are two-year, AICTE-approved and fully residential courses.

Seats and curriculum are where the two split. The general PGDM has 240 seats at the Bangalore campus. The PGDM-Business Analytics has 60 seats and runs at Bangalore alone.

Both cost INR 12,90,000 in total at Bangalore. For the Class of 2025, the PGDM average stood at INR 10.6 LPA. The PGDM-BA average was higher at INR 11.2 LPA.

Both share the same campus, faculty pool and recruiters. Outlook 2026 ranks XIME Bangalore 21st in India. NIRF 2025 placed it in the 101-125 band.

Those ratings cover the institute, not either course. So they do not separate the two. The table below sets out where the programmes actually differ.

Curriculum and Credit Split Compared

Both programmes carry 110 credits across six terms. The split inside those credits is the real difference. The PGDM-BA locks more of the degree into fixed core courses.

Credit Component PGDM PGDM-Business Analytics
Core courses 65 credits 76 credits
Electives 38 credits 27 credits
Internships and projects 7 credits 7 credits
Total 110 credits 110 credits

What the General PGDM Covers

The general PGDM keeps the first three terms as management foundations. Specialisation opens in Year 2, from Term 4 onward. Students pick from Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and IT and Analytics.

Over 50 electives are on offer across these tracks. A PGDM student can load up on analytics papers. That pool holds Big Data Analytics, Data Mining and Cloud Computing.

What the PGDM-Business Analytics Covers

The PGDM-Business Analytics starts analytics content in Term 1. Statistical Methods for Decision Making and Database Management System are Term 1 core papers. Python Programming and Data Handling arrives in Term 2.

Term 3 adds Data Science Fundamentals, Data Visualization and Optimization Models. Term 5 carries Big Data Analysis and Data Mining. Term 6 closes with AI and Machine Learning Applications.

Tool training runs across Python, R, Tableau, Power BI and SQL. Students also work on Hadoop, MapReduce, SPSS and the Bloomberg Terminal. Bloomberg certification courses are part of the package.

The Three-Month Analytics Project

Term 5 includes an Analytics Practical Project unique to the PGDM-BA. It runs for three months on real industry datasets. Students build it using Python, Tableau, Power BI and SPSS.

Both programmes share the other two work components. These are the 8-week Summer Internship Programme and the 3-week SUPA social internship.

Fees Compared

The Bangalore fee is identical for both programmes. Choosing analytics costs nothing extra. The fee is paid in six instalments across the two years.

Programme and Campus Total Fee Year 1 Year 2
PGDM-BA, Bangalore INR 12,90,000 INR 6,70,000 INR 6,20,000
PGDM, Bangalore INR 12,90,000 INR 6,70,000 INR 6,20,000
PGDM, Kochi INR 9,90,000 INR 5,20,000 INR 4,70,000
PGDM, Chennai INR 9,90,000 INR 5,20,000 INR 4,70,000

The programme fee covers tuition, library, computer centre and textbooks. Examination, diploma and co-curricular charges are also included. It does not cover boarding and lodging.

Hostel and mess run INR 12,000 to INR 16,000 per month. Both campuses are fully residential, so this is not optional for most students. Over two years that adds roughly INR 2.40 lakh to INR 3.20 lakh to the bill.

Two refundable deposits apply. The general caution deposit is INR 25,000 and the hostel deposit is INR 10,000. An international study tour is offered separately at about INR 1 lakh.

The Kochi and Chennai gap matters for cost-sensitive candidates. The PGDM there costs INR 3 lakh less. But analytics aspirants have no such option, since the PGDM-BA runs only at Bangalore.

Eligibility and Selection Process for Both Programmes

Eligibility is the same for both courses. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in any discipline. The cut is 50 percent aggregate. SC and ST candidates need 45 percent.

No mathematics or engineering background is required for the PGDM-BA. Commerce and arts graduates are eligible on the same terms. Candidates holding uncleared backlogs at the application stage are not eligible.

Final-year students may apply. Proof of graduation must be submitted by September 30 of the joining year. Both programmes accept CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, ATMA and GMAT scores.

The merit score is a composite. Interview performance carries the largest single weight.

Selection Component Weightage
Group Discussion and Personal Interview 40 percent
Admission test score 35 percent
Academic record, Class 10, Class 12 and UG 13 percent
Extracurriculars, diversity and work experience 12 percent

Example: A candidate with an average CAT percentile can still convert. GD and PI carry 40 percent, more than the test at 35 percent. A weak interview is harder to recover from than a weak test score.

Applications go online only at admissions.xime.org. The fee is INR 2,000 for the first preference. Each extra campus or programme preference costs INR 250 more.

That pricing matters here. A candidate can list both the PGDM and the PGDM-BA for INR 2,250. Applying to both is the safer route given the 60-seat analytics intake.

Placements at XIME Bangalore Compared

XIME publishes programme-wise placement data. In the Class of 2025, the analytics batch paid better. That holds on both average and top-end CTC.

Metric, Class of 2025 PGDM PGDM-Business Analytics
Average CTC INR 10.6 LPA INR 11.2 LPA
Top 10 percent average INR 14.6 LPA INR 19.3 LPA
Top 20 percent average INR 13.7 LPA INR 13.8 LPA

The top 10 percent gap is the striking one. Analytics toppers averaged INR 4.7 LPA more than PGDM toppers. At the top 20 percent mark the two are almost level.

Institute-wide numbers cover both programmes together. The highest CTC was INR 23.7 LPA and the median INR 10.5 LPA. Over 130 companies recruited, with placement close to 100 percent.

Recruiters overlap heavily across the two batches. Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Accenture, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Oracle and HDFC Bank hire from the campus. Roles differ more than employers do.

PGDM-BA graduates move into data analyst and business intelligence roles. Analytics consultant and analytics manager titles are common. PGDM graduates spread across marketing, finance, HR, operations and general consulting.

What Students Say About Studying at XIME Bangalore

Some things affect both batches equally and never appear in a brochure. These come up repeatedly in student accounts.

Mandatory Residential Stay and the Night Curfew

The campus is fully residential for both programmes. Students report that hostel stay is compulsory unless formally exempted. Entry and exit after 9:00 pm is restricted, which several students describe as limiting.

This is a cost fact, not only a lifestyle one. The monthly hostel and mess charge is effectively unavoidable. It should be added to the INR 12,90,000 tuition when comparing offers.

CGPA Gate for Placements

Placement eligibility is not automatic. Students report a minimum CGPA of around 4.8 on 8.0 to sit for campus recruitment. XIME's own academic rules require CGPA 4.5 for Year 2 promotion and 5.0 for the diploma.

The PGDM-BA carries a heavier fixed core load. Students in that batch have fewer electives to balance their grades with.

Trimester Workload

Six terms across two years means constant assessment. Students describe some form of exam roughly every six weeks. Attendance rules are tight, with a maximum of 15 percent absence permitted per course.

Location and Campus

The campus sits on Hosur Road in Bangalore. Students report traffic around the campus as a daily irritation. The location does put students inside India's largest analytics and IT hiring market.

Which Is Better: PGDM or PGDM-Business Analytics?

Neither is better on fee, ranking or recruiter access. Those are identical at Bangalore. The choice turns on how fixed a candidate's career target already is.

The PGDM-BA suits a candidate certain about analytics. It starts technical training in Term 1 rather than Year 2. The three-month analytics project is exclusive to this course. So is the Bloomberg certification track.

The general PGDM suits a candidate still deciding. It carries 38 elective credits against 27. It also allows an IT and Analytics specialisation in Year 2. That track covers much of the same elective pool.

Example: A B.Com graduate aiming at brand management should take the general PGDM. A B.Tech graduate targeting a data analyst role gains more from the PGDM-BA.

Two practical points decide close cases. The PGDM-BA has only 60 seats, so conversion is harder. It is also not offered at Kochi or Chennai. The PGDM costs INR 3,00,000 less there.
