The technology landscape of Bihar's capital gained a significant new platform with the formal inauguration of the AWS User Group Patna at CIMAGE College. With this launch, Patna joins the worldwide network of Amazon Web Services (AWS) user groups — community-led forums active in major tech cities such as Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad — giving students and professionals in Bihar direct access to a global cloud computing community for the first time.

The day-long launch event, which began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and cake cutting, drew a large gathering of students, cloud professionals, industry experts, technology enthusiasts, and community leaders. Sessions through the day covered AWS and cloud computing fundamentals, Generative AI, data centres, career pathways for students, and the startup ecosystem.
Keynote on India's Data Sovereignty
Welcoming the gathering, CIMAGE Director Prof. (Dr.) Neeraj Agrawal delivered the keynote address on the theme "Sovereign Racks, Local Intellect: Architecting India's Self-Reliant Data Centre and Cloud Ecosystem."
"Data is the greatest asset of the 21st century, and to secure it, India must build its own data centres and cloud infrastructure," Dr. Agrawal said. "Technological self-reliance is the guarantee of the nation's digital sovereignty, and I am confident that the talented youth of Bihar will play a leading role in this national mission. The establishment of the AWS User Group in Patna is a concrete step in that direction."

Technical Sessions from Industry and Academia
The technical track opened with cloud practitioner Tribhuvan Mishra, who traced the journey from cloud computing fundamentals to its industrial applications, noting that the majority of the world's digital services now run on the cloud — creating substantial employment opportunities for skilled graduates.
Dr. Maheshkumar Kolekar of IIT Patna presented a session titled "Real-World Gen-AI Vision Systems with AWS," demonstrating through live project examples how Generative AI combined with computer vision is transforming healthcare, security, and manufacturing.

In a session focused on student outcomes, Vishal Shakti detailed learning roadmaps, community initiatives, hackathons, and AWS certification pathways. Manish Kumar Ranjan spoke on the startup and MSME ecosystem, urging students to aim to become job creators rather than job seekers.
Deepak Kumar, Co-Founder of Bugendai Tech UK Ltd., shared an international perspective on community-driven technology hubs: "Every major tech hub in the world was built on the foundation of an active community. The seed sown in Patna today will give this city a new identity on the technology map in the years to come."
Quiz, Product Showcase, and Student Interaction
The event also featured a quiz competition with prize distribution, an AWS swag giveaway, and a product showcase. A concluding interactive Q&A session saw students engage speakers with questions on careers in cloud and AI.
CIMAGE Centre Head Mrs. Megha Agrawal, Dean Prof. (Dr.) Neeraj Poddar, and faculty members were present through the day to encourage participating students.
What the User Group Means for Students
Going forward, the AWS User Group Patna is expected to conduct regular meetups, certification study groups, hackathons, and networking sessions — creating an ongoing bridge between students in Bihar and professionals working in cloud and AI. Organisers described the launch as a milestone for Patna's technology community, with the group open to students and professionals across institutions.
