Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will conduct the final semester exams as online open-book tests for all its undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

In lieu of this, the teaching staff of  University have raised objections against this form of online examinations. Earlier Delhi University had brought this shift and now AMU is following suit.

A spokesperson of AMU had asserted that all the final semester exams will be held post-July 10, 2020. Additionally, exams of the first semester will also be held in this manner from June 5-10, 2020.

Following this, several teachers have written to the Vice-Chancellor regarding the exam pattern harming the university’s statute.

The letter by Prof. Aftab Alam, teacher’s elected representative of the Executive Committee, AMU says that prior to conducting online exams certain procedural mandates have to be circulated.

The letter also states that this form of the exam can affect the reputation of the institution and many students may not have access to the internet facilities as well.

Meanwhile, the office of Aligarh Muslim University opened on Monday, 8 June 2020 with full attendance.

However, staff who are senior citizens and living in containment zones have been exempted from their attendance.
