MET 2027 eligibility criteria set out the minimum academic qualifications a student must have before registering for the Manipal Entrance Test. Conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), MET 2027 is the entry route for B.Tech, B.Pharm, BBA, and other undergraduate programmes at MAHE campuses in Manipal, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Dubai, and affiliated institutions. The conditions cover the subjects studied in Class 12, the minimum percentage, and nationality. MAHE does not set any age limit for MET 2027, and there is no domicile restriction either. Students from any state in India, as well as NRI and international applicants, can apply.

Important: The official MET 2027 information brochure is yet to be released. The eligibility details on this page are based on MET 2026 guidelines and are expected to remain similar for 2027. Confirm the final criteria from the official MAHE website once the brochure is out.

MET 2027 Eligibility Criteria - Programme-wise Summary

The table below gives a quick overview of the eligibility requirements for the main undergraduate programmes available through MET 2027.

Programme Subjects Required in Class 12 Minimum Marks Age Limit
B.Tech Physics, Mathematics, English (compulsory) + Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational (any one) 50% in Physics, Mathematics, and the chosen optional subject No age limit

MET 2027 Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech

B.Tech is the most applied-for programme through MET. To be eligible, you must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects, plus one optional subject. The minimum marks required are 50% aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and the chosen optional subject taken together.

Subject Requirements for B.Tech

  • Compulsory subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and English
  • Optional subject (any one): Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or a technical and vocational subject related to Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering

The 50% is calculated on Physics, Mathematics, and the one optional subject, not across all subjects in Class 12. English is compulsory but is not counted in the percentage calculation.

B.Tech Admission Through JEE Main

At MIT Manipal and MIT Bengaluru, 20% of General category seats in each B.Tech branch (except Dual Degree programmes) are filled using the JEE Main CRL rank. To use this route, you need at least 75% aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and the optional subject in Class 12. This higher marks bar applies only to the JEE Main route; the MET route requires 50%.

B.Tech Eligibility for International Board Students

Students from international boards can also apply for B.Tech through MET 2027. The requirements differ by board.

Board Subject Requirements Minimum Performance
A Level (UK board) Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject at A Level; English at AS, IGCSE, or GCSE level Average grade D in Physics, Mathematics, and the optional subject
International Baccalaureate (IB) English, Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject; Physics and Mathematics at Higher Level preferred; minimum 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level subjects Average of 4 points in Physics, Mathematics, and the optional subject; at least 24 points overall
American 12th Grade Physics, Mathematics, and English Equivalent to 50% aggregate

B.Tech Lateral Entry

If you want to join B.Tech directly in the second year through lateral entry, you need to have passed Class 12 with Mathematics as a compulsory subject. You must also hold either a B.Sc degree from a recognised university or a three-year engineering diploma recognised by the state government’s Board of Technical Examination. The minimum marks for the B.Sc degree or the diploma is 45%.

MET 2027 Eligibility Criteria for B.Pharm

To apply for B.Pharm through MET 2027, you must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and English as compulsory subjects. As the science elective, you can have either Mathematics or Biology. The minimum percentage required is 50% in the qualifying examination. Students appearing in Class 12 in 2027 can also register for MET and apply for B.Pharm, subject to meeting the marks condition at the time of admission.

Accepted Subject Combinations for B.Pharm

Subject Combination in Class 12 Eligible for B.Pharm
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) Yes
Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) Yes
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology (PCMB) Yes
Physics, Chemistry with a subject other than Mathematics or Biology Not eligible
Any combination without Chemistry Not eligible

MET 2027 Eligibility Criteria for BBA

BBA through MET 2027 is open to students from any stream in Class 12. Science, Commerce, and Arts students can all apply. The only academic requirement is a pass in Class 12 or an equivalent examination with at least 50% aggregate marks. Students from international boards such as IB, A Level, and American 12th grade are also eligible.

MET 2027 Age Limit

MAHE does not set any upper or lower age limit for MET 2027. You can apply at any age as long as you meet the academic eligibility conditions for your chosen programme. This makes MET different from exams such as NEET, which has a minimum age of 17 years. Whether you are a school leaver or a working professional returning to study, MAHE’s age policy does not bar you from appearing for MET 2027.

MET 2027 Domicile Requirements

There is no domicile or state-level restriction for MET 2027. Students from any state in India can apply, regardless of where they completed their schooling. You do not need to be a resident of Karnataka to apply for programmes at the Manipal campus, nor a resident of Rajasthan for the Jaipur campus. MAHE admits students from across India under the general domestic category.

NRI and International Applicants

NRI and OCI students can apply for MAHE undergraduate programmes. They are considered under a separate NRI or foreign national admission category, which may carry a different fee structure. The academic eligibility conditions for subject combination and minimum marks are the same as for Indian applicants. Foreign nationals who do not wish to take MET can apply directly to MAHE through the international admissions process. For details on the NRI category, students can contact MAHE at admissions@manipal.edu.

Students Waiting for Class 12 Results in 2027

If you are appearing for your Class 12 board examination in 2027, you can register for MET 2027 and take the test before your results are out. Your admission to MAHE will remain provisional until you submit your final marksheet showing that you have met the required percentage. If your result falls below the minimum marks condition, MAHE will cancel your provisional admission. You must bring your original Class 12 marksheet for verification when you report for admission.

MET Score Requirement for Counselling Eligibility

Clearing the Class 12 academic criteria is not enough on its own. You must also score at least 50% marks in the MET 2027 entrance exam to qualify for the MAHE counselling process. If you score below 50% in MET, you will not be eligible for seat allotment even if you meet all the Class 12 subject and marks requirements. MAHE prepares a merit list based on the MET score to call students for counselling in order of rank.

Key Points About MET 2027 Eligibility

  • The 50% for B.Tech is calculated only on Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject, not on all Class 12 subjects together.
  • English must be studied in Class 12 for B.Tech eligibility but is not counted in the subject percentage.
  • There is no upper or lower age limit for any programme offered through MET 2027.
  • No domicile restriction applies; students from every state in India are eligible.
  • You must also score at least 50% in the MET exam itself to be called for counselling.
  • International board students with IB, A Level, or American 12th Grade qualifications are eligible with equivalent marks.
  • Vocational subjects in Class 12 are accepted for B.Tech only if they relate to Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical fields.
  • MAHE will publish the final MET 2027 eligibility conditions in the official information brochure; check manipal.edu before you apply.
