SET 2027 Registration Documents Required: Complete Checklist for Online Application
The SET 2027 registration process is fully online and requires you to upload specific documents at the time of application. Before you begin filling the SET 2027 application form, keep all required documents scanned and ready in the correct format. This complete checklist covers every document you need so your SET 2027 registration goes through without errors or delays.
What is SET 2027?
SET stands for Symbiosis Entrance Test. It is conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, for admissions to BBA, BCA, B.Com, and other undergraduate programmes at more than 30 Symbiosis institutes across India. SET 2027 is a two-stage process: a computer-based written test followed by PI-WAT (Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test) at the institute of your choice.
More than 1.5 lakh candidates appear for SET every year, making it one of the most competitive BBA entrance exams in the country. Clearing the written test does not guarantee admission. You need to clear the SET 2027 written test first and then appear for PI-WAT at each Symbiosis institute you apply to.

Academic Documents for SET 2027 Registration
Your academic certificates prove that you meet the SET 2027 eligibility criteria. Upload clear, complete scans of each certificate. Partial or blurry uploads can lead to rejection during document verification at the PI-WAT stage.
Class 10 Certificate and Marksheet
You need to upload your Class 10 certificate or marksheet as proof of date of birth. This is the most widely accepted DOB document for Indian entrance exams. The document must clearly show your name, date of birth, and the board from which you passed.
- Accepted boards: CBSE, ICSE, and all recognised state boards
- Upload both certificate and marksheet if the certificate alone does not show your marks
- Your name on this document must match your photo ID exactly
- If your Class 10 certificate is in a regional language, carry a certified English translation
Class 12 Certificate and Marksheet
Your Class 12 marksheet is the core eligibility document for SET 2027. You need a minimum of 50% marks in Class 12 for the General category or 45% marks for SC/ST candidates. If you are currently in Class 12, upload your Class 12 hall ticket or board admit card instead.
- Pass candidates: upload Class 12 marksheet showing final aggregate percentage
- Appearing candidates: upload Class 12 hall ticket or board admit card
- Make sure the marksheet shows both subject-wise and aggregate marks
- Improvement exam candidates: upload both the original and improvement marksheets
- Name on the marksheet must exactly match the name on your identity proof
Migration or Transfer Certificate (If Applicable)
If you changed schools between Class 10 and Class 12, some Symbiosis institutes may ask for a Migration Certificate or Transfer Certificate during the PI-WAT document verification. This is not mandatory for all candidates at the registration stage. Check the specific requirements for each institute you apply to on the SET 2027 colleges page.
If you are currently appearing in Class 12, you must submit your final board marksheet at the time of Symbiosis admission. You must score the minimum required marks in the actual board exam to secure a seat, even after clearing SET 2027.

Identity Proof Required for SET 2027 Application
A valid, government-issued photo identity document is mandatory for SET 2027 registration. This same identity proof will be needed on the written test day and again at the PI-WAT stage.
The following documents are accepted as identity proof for SET 2027:
- Aadhaar Card (most preferred — may be required for OTP-based eKYC verification at login)
- Passport
- PAN Card
- Voter ID Card
- Driving Licence
- School or College ID Card (only for current students, if no government ID is available)
Aadhaar card is the most preferred identity document. Many Symbiosis registration portals use Aadhaar-based OTP verification during new user sign-up. Make sure your Aadhaar is linked to your current mobile number so you can receive the OTP during registration.
The name on your identity proof must exactly match the name on your academic certificates and the name you enter in the application form. Even a minor spelling difference can cause problems. If there is a name mismatch between your documents, prepare a self-declaration affidavit or a notarised document before you apply.
Carry the original of the identity document you upload during SET 2027 registration. You must show it at the exam centre on the test day and again at the Symbiosis institute during PI-WAT. Photocopies alone are not accepted at the exam centre.

Photograph Specifications for SET 2027 Registration
Your passport-size photograph is a mandatory upload for the SET 2027 application form. A photo that does not meet the required specifications will be rejected. Follow the specifications below carefully before uploading.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Format | JPG or JPEG only |
| File Size | 10 KB to 200 KB |
| Dimensions | 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm (standard passport size) |
| Background | Plain white or off-white only |
| Photo Age | Taken within the last 3 months |
| Face Coverage | At least 75–80% of the photo frame |
| Spectacles | Not recommended; avoid if possible |
| Expression | Neutral, eyes open, looking directly at the camera |
| Cap or Head Cover | Not allowed (except for religious reasons) |
| Colour | Colour photo only; black and white is not accepted |
Get your photograph taken at a professional photo studio. Mobile phone selfies are not accepted for SET 2027 registration. Ask the studio for a digital copy in JPG format on a pen drive or via email so you can upload it directly.
Use the same photograph throughout the entire SET 2027 process. The photo on your application form, your admit card, and the attendance sheet at the exam centre must all be identical. Using different photographs at different stages can cause identity verification problems.

Signature Requirements for SET 2027 Online Form
You need to upload a scanned image of your handwritten signature for the SET 2027 online application. Sign on a plain white sheet of paper and scan it before uploading. The signature image must be clean with a white background only.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Format | JPG or JPEG only |
| File Size | 4 KB to 30 KB |
| Ink Colour | Black or dark blue ballpoint pen |
| Paper | Plain unruled white paper only |
| Background | White; no lines, patterns, or ruled paper |
| Crop | Crop to show the signature only, with a thin white border |
Sign your full name on a blank white sheet. Scan or clearly photograph the signature. Crop the image so that only your signature is visible with a thin white border around it. Do not include any other text, box, or design in the image file.
Do not use a rubber stamp, pre-printed signature, or any digital or electronic signature tool. Only a fresh, handwritten signature is accepted for SET 2027. The signature you write on the answer sheet at the exam centre must match the signature on your application form.

How to Scan and Upload Documents for SET 2027
Uploading documents in the correct format and size is very important for the SET 2027 registration. A document in the wrong format or with a file size above the limit will not upload, and your form will stay incomplete.
Using a Flatbed Scanner
A flatbed scanner gives the best quality for document scanning. Set the scanner resolution to 200–300 DPI for certificates and marksheets. Use 600 DPI for photographs and signatures. Clean the glass surface of the scanner before you start. Make sure all four edges of the document are visible in the final scan.
Using a Smartphone
If you do not have access to a scanner, use your smartphone with a scanning app. Apps like CamScanner, Adobe Scan, or Microsoft Lens work very well for this. Follow these steps when scanning with a phone:
- Place the document on a flat, hard surface in a well-lit room
- Make sure there are no shadows falling on the document
- Use the document-scan mode, not the regular camera or photo mode
- Check the output image quality on screen before saving
- Save the file in PDF or JPG format as required by the upload field
Reducing File Size
Scanned files can sometimes be too large to upload. If your file is above the size limit, reduce it using free online tools. Always check that the document text remains clearly readable after compression.
- For PDF files: Use iLovePDF or Smallpdf (both free and available online)
- For JPG images: Use TinyJPG or ILoveIMG
- For any file type: Reduce the scan resolution to 150–200 DPI if the file is too large
Document Upload Format Summary
| Document | Accepted Format | Expected Size Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Passport-Size Photograph | JPG / JPEG | 10 KB – 200 KB |
| Signature | JPG / JPEG | 4 KB – 30 KB |
| Class 10 Certificate / Marksheet | PDF / JPG | Up to 1 MB |
| Class 12 Marksheet / Hall Ticket | PDF / JPG | Up to 1 MB |
| Identity Proof (Aadhaar / PAN / Passport) | PDF / JPG | Up to 500 KB |
| Category Certificate (SC/ST) | PDF / JPG | Up to 500 KB |
| PwD Certificate | PDF / JPG | Up to 500 KB |
The exact file size and format specifications may change when the official SET 2027 notification is released. Always verify the latest upload requirements on the official SET website at set-test.org before uploading your documents.

The SET 2027 registration fee has two separate components. You pay the test fee to appear for the written exam, and then an additional programme fee for each Symbiosis institute and course you choose to apply to.
| Fee Component | Expected Amount |
|---|---|
| SET Test Registration Fee | ~₹2,250 |
| Programme Fee (per institute and course selected) | ~₹1,000 per programme |
| Payment Modes | Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI |
| Fee Refund Policy | Non-refundable once paid |
The SET test registration fee and the programme fee are two separate payments. Paying the test fee alone does not register you for any Symbiosis programme. You must also pay the programme fee for each institute and course you want to be considered for during the PI-WAT stage.

Documents to Carry for SET 2027 PI-WAT
Clearing the SET 2027 written test takes you to Stage 2: PI-WAT (Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test) at your chosen Symbiosis institute. You must carry a specific set of original documents to the PI-WAT round. Missing any document can result in disqualification from that institute’s admission process.
Carry the following documents to the SET 2027 PI-WAT:
- SET 2027 Admit Card — printed copy
- SET 2027 Scorecard — printed copy downloaded from the official portal
- Original Class 10 Certificate and Marksheet along with one self-attested photocopy
- Original Class 12 Marksheet along with one self-attested photocopy (or bonafide letter from school if results are still awaited)
- Original Government-Issued Photo ID — the same document you uploaded during registration
- 4 to 6 Recent Passport-Size Photographs — identical to the one used in the application form
- Original Category Certificate — for SC/ST candidates
- Gap Year Certificate or Affidavit — if there is a gap year after Class 12
- Original PwD Certificate — for PwD candidates
- Migration or Transfer Certificate — if applicable
Not carrying all the required original documents to the PI-WAT at a Symbiosis institute can lead to disqualification from that programme. Carry both originals and self-attested photocopies of every document. Check the specific institute’s PI-WAT requirements on their official website before the interview day.

Common Document Errors That Lead to SET 2027 Registration Problems
Many candidates face problems during SET 2027 registration because of avoidable document mistakes. Knowing these errors in advance will save you time and help you avoid a rejected application.
Wrong File Format
Uploading a PNG, BMP, or HEIC image file instead of JPG/JPEG is one of the most common mistakes. The SET portal only accepts JPG/JPEG for photographs and signatures. Always convert your image to JPG format before uploading. For certificates and marksheets, check whether the portal requires PDF or JPG and use the right one.
File Size Exceeding Limit
Documents scanned at high resolution often have large file sizes. If your file is above the maximum allowed size, the upload will fail silently or show an error. Compress the file using a free online tool like iLovePDF or TinyJPG. After compressing, check that the document text is still clearly readable before you re-upload.
Name Mismatch Between ID and Certificates
This is the most common reason for rejection during SET 2027 document verification. Your full name must be written exactly the same across your Aadhaar card, Class 10 certificate, Class 12 marksheet, and the online application form. Even a small difference — a missing middle name, a different spelling, or an extra initial — can cause problems. If your documents have different name variations, prepare a notarised affidavit confirming both names belong to the same person before you apply.
Outdated Photograph
Using a photograph taken more than 3 months ago is a frequent error. The SET registration portal specifically asks for a recent photo. Do not reuse the photograph from your Class 10 or 12 board forms, especially if those were taken years ago. Get a fresh photograph taken at a studio specifically for SET 2027.
Blurry or Incomplete Scan
A blurry scan where the text is hard to read will not pass document verification. After scanning, open the file on your computer screen and zoom in to check that all text, numbers, dates, and official seals are clearly visible. If you scanned using a smartphone, retake the scan in better lighting or use a flatbed scanner instead.
Uploading Wrong Document in the Wrong Field
Some candidates accidentally upload their Class 10 marksheet in the Class 12 field, or upload a certificate in the photograph field. Always read the label of each upload field carefully before selecting a file. Organise your scanned files on your computer with clear names — for example, "SET2027_Photo.jpg" and "SET2027_Class12_Marksheet.pdf" — to avoid confusion during upload.
- Scan and organise all documents at least one week before registration opens
- Label every scanned file clearly on your computer
- Preview each uploaded document on the portal before moving to the next step
- Do not refresh the browser page or close the tab during document upload
- Use a stable broadband or Wi-Fi connection to avoid upload failures
- Use the SET 2027 form correction window to fix any errors after final submission

SET 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Before collecting your SET 2027 registration documents, confirm that you meet the SET 2027 eligibility criteria. Applying without meeting the eligibility can result in disqualification, even after you clear the written test.
Educational Qualification
You must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board, or be currently appearing in Class 12. The minimum aggregate marks required are:
- 50% in Class 12 for General and OBC category candidates
- 45% in Class 12 for SC and ST category candidates
- Individual Symbiosis institutes may set higher minimum percentages for specific programmes
- Some BCA programmes may require Mathematics as a compulsory subject in Class 12
- Candidates with vocational subjects at Class 12 level should check programme-specific eligibility rules
Age Limit
You must be at least 17 years old on the date of the SET 2027 written test. There is no upper age limit for appearing in SET 2027 itself. Some individual Symbiosis institutes may set their own maximum age limits for specific programmes. Check the admissions page for each institute you apply to through the SET 2027 colleges list.
Nationality
SET 2027 is open to Indian nationals. International students, NRI, and PIO candidates can also apply to Symbiosis programmes but follow a separate international admission process. Check the Symbiosis International University website for details on the international student admission route.
Programme-Specific Eligibility
Different Symbiosis programmes have additional eligibility conditions beyond the basic SET 2027 criteria. Some BBA programmes may require English as a compulsory subject in Class 12. Some B.Com programmes may require Commerce in Class 12. Always check the specific requirements for each programme and institute before selecting them in your application. Visit the SET 2027 participating institutes page for programme-wise details.

SET 2027 Exam Pattern
Understanding the SET 2027 exam pattern will help you prepare better once your registration is complete. SET 2027 has two stages: a computer-based written test and a PI-WAT at the institute level.
Stage 1: Written Test (Computer-Based Test)
The written test is a 60-minute computer-based test with 50 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries 1 mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. The test has three sections:
| Section | Number of Questions | Total Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| General English | 16 | 16 | 60 minutes |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 16 | 16 | |
| General Awareness | 18 | 18 | |
| Total | 50 | 50 |
Stage 2: PI-WAT (Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test)
Candidates who score above the institute-specific cutoff in the written test are called for PI-WAT. This stage has two parts:
- Writing Ability Test (WAT): You write a short essay on a given topic. This tests your written communication, reasoning, and clarity of thought.
- Personal Interaction (PI): A face-to-face interview with faculty from the Symbiosis institute. It tests your communication skills, self-awareness, and fit for the programme.
- PI-WAT is conducted separately at each Symbiosis institute you have paid the programme fee for
- The final merit list is based on your combined SET written test score, WAT marks, and PI marks

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on SET 2027 Registration Documents
What documents are required for SET 2027 registration?
The main documents required for SET 2027 registration are your Class 10 certificate or marksheet, Class 12 marksheet or hall ticket, a recent passport-size photograph taken within the last 3 months, a scanned handwritten signature on white paper, and a valid government-issued photo ID. SC/ST candidates also need a valid caste certificate. Check the complete list on the SET 2027 application process page.
Is Aadhaar card compulsory for SET 2027 registration?
Aadhaar card is the most preferred identity document for SET 2027. Many Symbiosis portals use Aadhaar-based OTP verification at the login stage, making it practically necessary for most candidates. If you do not have Aadhaar, you can use other valid IDs like a Passport, Voter ID, PAN card, or Driving Licence. Check the official SET 2027 notification for the final list of accepted identity proofs.
Can I use a smartphone selfie as my photograph for SET 2027?
No. Mobile phone selfies are not accepted for SET 2027. Your photograph must be taken at a professional photo studio with a plain white background, in colour, and taken within the last 3 months. Using an informal selfie can result in your application being flagged or rejected during document verification. Visit the SET 2027 photo guidelines page for full specifications.
What is the accepted file format for SET 2027 document upload?
Your photograph and signature must be in JPG or JPEG format only. Academic certificates, marksheets, identity proof, and category certificates can be uploaded in PDF or JPG format. File sizes typically range from 10 KB to 200 KB for photos, 4 KB to 30 KB for signatures, and up to 1 MB for certificates. Always verify exact specifications on the official portal before uploading.
Can Class 12 appearing candidates apply for SET 2027?
Yes. Candidates currently appearing in Class 12 board exams can apply for SET 2027. During registration, upload your Class 12 board admit card or hall ticket instead of the final marksheet. However, you must score the minimum required marks — 50% for General and 45% for SC/ST — in the actual board exam to be eligible for final Symbiosis admission.
What should I do if my name differs between my Aadhaar card and my Class 12 marksheet?
If there is a name mismatch between your identity proof and academic certificates, prepare a self-declaration affidavit confirming both names refer to the same person. Get it notarised by a notary public. In some cases, you may also need a gazette notification if the name change was legally made. Carry this affidavit to the SET 2027 exam centre and PI-WAT as well.
Is there a form correction window after SET 2027 registration?
Yes. Symbiosis usually provides a form correction window after the main registration period closes. During this window, you can edit certain fields and re-upload documents. Not all fields may be editable. Check the SET 2027 form correction page for details and correction window dates once the official notification is released.
How many programmes can I apply to with one SET 2027 registration?
You can apply to as many Symbiosis programmes as you want with a single SET 2027 registration. You need to pay an additional programme fee of approximately ₹1,000 for each programme and institute you select. Paying only the basic test fee does not register you for any specific programme. Think carefully before making your payments since the fee is non-refundable.
What documents do I need to carry on the SET 2027 written test day?
On the SET 2027 written test day, carry your printed SET 2027 Admit Card and the original government-issued photo ID you uploaded during registration. Without both, you will not be allowed into the exam centre. Download your SET 2027 admit card and print it well before the exam date. Photocopies of the ID are not accepted at the exam centre.
What is the difference between the SET test fee and the programme fee?
The SET test fee of approximately ₹2,250 allows you to appear for the SET 2027 written exam. The programme fee of approximately ₹1,000 per programme is a separate payment that registers you for the PI-WAT and admission process at a specific Symbiosis institute for a specific course. Without paying the programme fee for an institute, your SET score will not be considered by that institute even if you clear the written test.
