BHU CUET PG 2026 SC and ST Reservation Policy

BHU follows the Central Government reservation policy for every postgraduate program on all its campuses. No program at BHU is exempt from the reservation mandate. SC and ST students compete on separate merit lists within their own category pool and are not compared against the unreserved list.

PwBD students receive an additional 5% horizontal reservation within their respective category. An SC student who is also PwBD is counted against the SC quota — no extra seat is added. Seat counts above are approximate, calculated on the total intake of 1,668; actual numbers may differ slightly by program due to rounding.

SC and ST Reserved Seats: Category-wise Breakdown

BHU offers 1,668 seats across 118 PG programs spanning Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Law, and professional programs such as MCA and M.Tech. The SC and ST reserved seats are distributed proportionally across every program on the Main Campus, Mahila Mahavidyalaya (MMV), and Rajiv Gandhi South Campus (RGSC).

SC and ST students with higher CUET PG scores and better-ranked preferences get allotted first within their respective category pools. If SC or ST seats remain vacant after Round 2, they go to the Spot Round before any de-reservation is considered.

Round 1 Seat Allotment for SC and ST Students

BHU CUET PG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment is expected to be released on July 1, 2026, based on the previous year counselling schedule. After release, you can log in at bhucuetpg.samarth.edu.in to download your allotment letter.

In Round 1, BHU fills SC and ST reserved seats across all programs using the category merit list. The automated Samarth system matches each student’s CUET PG score with their submitted preference order to produce the allotment result.

If you receive a Round 1 allotment and do not accept it within the window, your candidacy for all further rounds will be cancelled. Students who want a chance at a higher-preference program in Round 2 must select “Accept and Upgrade” at the time of Round 1 confirmation — not just “Accept”.

Round 2 Seat Allotment for SC and ST Students

BHU CUET PG 2026 Round 2 seat allotment is expected in mid-July 2026, based on the 2025 counselling schedule. Round 2 fills two types of vacancies: seats where Round 1 allottees did not accept, and higher-preference programs unlocked by students who chose “Accept and Upgrade” in Round 1.

SC and ST seats that remain unfilled after Round 2 proceed to a Spot Round. De-reservation — converting reserved seats to unreserved — is a last resort and applies only after the Spot Round cannot fill the seats. Students who held a Round 1 seat and chose “Accept and Upgrade” retain their current program if no Round 2 upgrade is available.

How to Accept BHU CUET PG 2026 Seat Allotment

After the allotment list is published, SC and ST students must log in and confirm their seat within the deadline. Follow these steps after Round 1 or Round 2 release:

1. Visit bhucuetpg.samarth.edu.in and log in with your CUET PG application number and password.
2. Go to the Seat Allotment section and download your allotment letter.
3. Click Accept Seat to confirm the allotted program, or Accept and Upgrade if you want to try for a better preference in the next round.
4. Pay the admission fee online via net banking, UPI, or debit/credit card through the Samarth portal.
5. Print the fee receipt and allotment letter — both are required for physical document verification.
6. Report to the allotted department on the date BHU specifies for document verification and final admission.

The acceptance window is typically 3–5 days — do not wait. Failure to accept within the window automatically forfeits the allotted seat and removes you from further rounds.

Documents Required for SC and ST Admission

Carry originals and self-attested copies of every document listed below when you report for verification. An invalid or non-central-format caste certificate will result in the seat being reclassified to General category. If your CUET PG score is below the General cutoff, admission will be cancelled on the spot.

Carry multiple photocopies of every document — BHU retains one set at the time of reporting. SC and ST students must ensure their caste certificate is in Central Government format and is not expired. A state-format certificate may be held for additional verification or rejected outright.
