In 1994, the University Grants Commission (UGC) initiated an autonomous organization named as National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is established to examine all the important aspects like quality of education, faculty of the institute, infrastructure, etc. In India, only NAAC accredited Universities are certified under UGC.
Institutes attaining the NAAC grades such as A++, A+ and A are considered favourable in terms of teaching-learning and other facilities.

NAAC Accreditation: Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for NAAC Accreditation, the institute must be first recognized and approved by UGC. Thereafter, the Institute must have an adequate number of students enrolled in full-time courses offered by the Institute.

NAAC Grading System
NAAC grades the higher education institutes in four categories namely, A, B, C and D. Each grade has its own significance as very good, good, satisfactory or unsatisfactory.

Chandigarh University is one such university which has attained NAAC A+ grade by securing a CGPA of 3.28 on 4 point scale and is constantly ranked among the top institutes of Punjab for innovative pedagogy, placements, academic excellence and research.
Chandigarh University is the youngest University of India assessed and accredited by NAAC and successfully granted A+ grade in the first cycle. It is the only private university of Punjab to be accredited by NAAC.
As per the revised assessment process, 70% of the assessment is based on data submitted by the institution which is assessed by the third party which makes the accreditation process even tougher.
State-of-the-art R&D infrastructure, socially relevant research for the society and both students and faculty members engaged actively in innovation, has helped Chandigarh University in filling 400 patents and establishment of 85 startups within a time span of 3 years only.
The University placement has set a remarkable record by bagging 6,314 offers from 627 MNCs during 2018-19. In addition to this, the sportspersons have won 10 championships and 86 International and National Medals across the globe in various sports tournaments.
