DMS Scholarship- District Merit Scholarship 2021: Last Date, Eligibility Criteria, Benefits, Selection, Application Process

District Merit Scholarship popularly known as DMS Scholarship is one of the special scholarships offered to students who have a residence in Kerala. It acts as an asset to those students who are not able to bear the expenses of their education. There are many scholarships of national-level but The District Merit Scholarship (DMS) is the one which is awarded and bought into force by the Government of Kerala to those students who are merit holders and belong to economically weaker backgrounds/ sections. 

This scholarship is offered to only those students who have scored A+ in SSLC Examinations for all the subjects, the examination which is organized by the Kerala Board of Examination. It is awarded to make and provide awareness among everyone about the various engineering courses which are available after the higher secondary school. To avail for this scholarship student, have to specify a specific eligibility criterion and then only they can fill the online application form and therein start with the application process.

DMS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The basic eligibility criteria to avail of this DMS/ DCE scholarship is-

• The student should be a domicile of Kerala. 
• Students must be pursuing higher secondary education, VHSC, Polytechnic, or ITI courses
• A student who has scored A+ in SSLC Examinations for all the subjects, the examination which is organized by the Kerala Board of Examination.

DMS Scholarship Benefits 

The benefits of availing of this DMS scholarship are-

• It acts as an asset to those students who are not able to bear the expenses of their education.
• It is awarded to make and provide awareness among everyone about the various engineering courses which are available after the higher secondary school.
• The students who are selected for this scholarship get INR. 1,250 per annum.

How to Apply for DMS Scholarship?

The application for DMS Scholarship starts on August 1 of every year. Students are supposed to fill the application form and submit it on or before September 30 every year. The steps to apply for the District Merit Scholarship is as below-

• Students are supposed to visit the official website of the Directorate of Collegiate Education (DCE), the Government of Kerala.
• Then students are supposed to select the appropriate option of ‘DISTRICT MERIT SCHOLARSHIP- DMS’ from the types of options provided in the scholarship list.
• Then a small dropbox will appear stating DISTRICT MERIT SCHOLARSHIP which would contain details like start date and end date of application form, and start date and end date of renewal, and over there would be an option as ‘APPLY ONLINE’ students are supposed to select this option to redirect to the candidate login page. The students who are already registered can directly enter the login details.
• If the students are not registered, they are supposed to select the option of ‘NEW REGISTRATION’ to generate an account to apply to avail of the scholarship.
• Students are then supposed to fill in the valid details in the application form while applying for the scholarship. They are supposed to enter everything in CAPITAL LETTERS.
• Students are then supposed to recheck the application form to avoid rejection from DCE while verification.
• In the application form, students are supposed to upload scanned copies of all the relevant documents. These scanned documents should be attested by the Gazetted Officer or Head of the school/ college/ university.
• Then students are supposed to submit the application form.
• After submission students will receive an automated mail regarding the login Id and password.
• Students are supposed to keep the login credentials saved for future use. Then they are supposed to take out a printout of the application form.

Documents Required:

• Attested copy of mark sheet of college/ school/ university certificates.
• Recent passport size photograph.
• Caste certificate attested copies.
• Candidates’ annual family income certificate and affidavit for any additional income.
• Age proof (class 10th board certificate or birth certificate)
• Attested copies of caste certificate.
• Residential proof (electricity bill, ration card, voter Id, Aadhar card, and so forth)
• Attested copies of disability certificates, if any.
• Candidates Bank Account details in the prescribed format.

DMS Scholarship Renewal

The students can fill the application form and apply for the renewal on or before September. The already registered students are supposed to renew it every year. Students should still have excellent performance to renew the scholarship. Students should maintain their academic performance and requirement and conduct to apply for the renewal of the scholarship.

• Students are supposed to visit the official website of the Directorate of Collegiate Education (DCE), the Government of Kerala.
• Then students are supposed to select the appropriate option of ‘DISTRICT MERIT SCHOLARSHIP- DMS’ from the types of options provided in the scholarship list.
• Then a small dropbox will appear stating DISTRICT MERIT SCHOLARSHIP which would contain details like start date and end date of application form, and start date and end date of renewal, and over there would be an option as ‘APPLY FOR RENEWAL’
• Students are supposed to log in by entering registration Id, password, date of birth and then selecting for Renewal. Then edit the old application which is already there in the DCE portal.
• After rechecking the edited application form students are supposed to submit the DMS Renewal application form and check online status.
