Edith Cowan University Application Deadlines for Indian Students
Edith Cowan University runs two intakes each year, with Semester 1 in February carrying most programs and Semester 2 in July opening a strong majority of UG and PG courses. The dates below are drawn from the ECU important dates page and apply to international applicants from India.
Edith Cowan University’s primary intake for Indian students is Semester 1 (February) — most programs open here.
| Intake | Level | Applications Open | Closing Date | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Semester 1 2027 (February) Primary intake |
UG and PG | Open now | 22 January 2027 | ECU Online |
| Semester 2 2027 (July) | UG and PG | November 2026 | 15 June 2027 | ECU Online |
| Nursing and Education (Sem 1 2027) | UG and PG | Open now | 30 November 2026 | ECU Online |
Nursing, Education, and performing arts programs through WAAPA close earlier than general programs because of audition and placement scheduling. International applicants should target a submission eight to ten weeks before the published closing date, since ECU reviews documents sequentially.
Planning note: Apply at least 12 weeks before the posted closing date so you have time for the offer letter, deposit payment, Confirmation of Enrolment, and the Subclass 500 visa processing window of four to eight weeks.
Edith Cowan University Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students
Entry at Edith Cowan University splits into two layers: an academic threshold tied to your chosen program and an English language proficiency floor set at the university level. Nursing, Education, and some Health degrees sit above the general IELTS floor because of regulatory practice requirements.
- UG general entry: Class XII at 65 to 75 percent in CBSE, ISC, or an equivalent Indian board
- PG general entry: Bachelor’s degree with a credit average, usually 60 percent or above in a related discipline
- UG English floor: IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5
- PG English floor: IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0
- Regulated professions: Nursing, Education, and Health degrees require IELTS 7.0 overall
| English Test | UG Minimum | PG Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 (no band under 5.5) | 6.5 (no band under 6.0) |
| TOEFL iBT | 70 (no section under 17) | 84 (no section under 20) |
| PTE Academic | 52 (no section under 50) | 58 (no section under 54) |
| Cambridge English (C1 Advanced) | 169 in each skill | 176 in each skill |
| OET | Not accepted for UG general | 350 each skill (Health programs) |
Edith Cowan University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Indian applicants whose entire Bachelor’s degree was taught and assessed in English at a recognised Indian university can request a medium of instruction (MOI) waiver. This waiver asks ECU to accept your prior English-medium study instead of a fresh IELTS result. The Edith Cowan College pathway also acts as a bridge for applicants who narrowly miss the English or academic floor, letting them step into a Diploma that articulates into Year 2 of the Bachelor’s.
Edith Cowan University PG Programs and Entry Requirements
Postgraduate base tuition at Edith Cowan University sits between AUD 36,150 and 47,550 (INR 24.44 to 32.14 Lakhs) per year, depending on faculty. ECU publishes a course-wise fees breakdown that lists per-year indicative fees for every discipline, and the Fees page tracks any mid-year revision.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master of Cyber Security | 2 years | Bachelor’s at 60%+ in Computing, IT, or related | IELTS 6.5 |
| Master of Computer Science | 2 years | Bachelor’s at 60%+ in Computing or related | IELTS 6.5 |
| Master of Information Technology | 2 years | Bachelor’s at 60%+ in any discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
| Master of Engineering (Petroleum Specialisation) | 2 years | Bachelor of Engineering at 60%+ in a related branch | IELTS 6.5 |
| Master of Nursing | 2 years | Bachelor of Nursing with registration eligibility | IELTS 7.0 |
| Master of Teaching (Secondary) | 2 years | Bachelor’s at 60%+ with teachable subject areas | IELTS 7.5 (Speaking and Listening 8.0) |
| Master of Finance and Banking | 2 years | Bachelor’s at 60%+ in any discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
| Master of Human Resource Management | 2 years | Bachelor’s at 60%+ in any discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
Health and Education PG programs sit at the top of the English floor because the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (AHPRA) and Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia require higher demonstrated English before professional registration.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official ECU international applicants page for your chosen program before applying.
Edith Cowan University UG Programs and Entry Requirements
Undergraduate base tuition at Edith Cowan University ranges from AUD 36,200 to 44,000 (INR 24.47 to 29.74 Lakhs) per year, with Nursing and Cyber Security sitting at the upper end of the band. The technology program list covers every ECU Bachelor’s degree in Computing and Cyber Security along with its per-year indicative fee.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Science (Nursing) | 3 years | Class XII at 70%+ with Biology or Chemistry | IELTS 7.0 |
| Bachelor of Computer Science | 3 years | Class XII at 65%+ with Mathematics | IELTS 6.0 |
| Bachelor of Science (Cyber Security) | 3 years | Class XII at 65%+ with Mathematics | IELTS 6.0 |
| Bachelor of Communications | 3 years | Class XII at 65%+ in any stream | IELTS 6.0 |
| Bachelor of Design (Visual and Spatial Design) | 3 years | Class XII at 65%+ plus a portfolio | IELTS 6.0 |
| Bachelor of Education (Primary) | 4 years | Class XII at 70%+ in any stream | IELTS 7.5 (Speaking and Listening 8.0) |
Applicants narrowly short of the Class XII cut-off can enter through the Edith Cowan College Diploma, which runs one subject at a time in trimester blocks and articulates directly into Year 2 of the matched Bachelor’s degree.
Edith Cowan University MBA Admissions
The Master of Business Administration at Edith Cowan University carries base tuition of AUD 40,650 (INR 27.48 Lakhs) per year, runs across February and July intakes, and does not require GMAT or GRE for Indian applicants. ECU offers both the general MBA and the MBA (International) with specialisations in Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Environmental Management.
| Round | Intake | Closing Date | Decision Window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | Semester 1 2027 (February) | 22 January 2027 | Four to six weeks after submission |
| Round 2 | Semester 2 2027 (July) | 15 June 2027 | Four to six weeks after submission |
Edith Cowan MBA Entry Requirements
Applicants need a recognised Bachelor’s degree with a credit average (60 percent or above) plus demonstrated managerial or supervisory experience. ECU accepts a four-year Indian Bachelor’s such as BE, BTech, or BBA Honours as the degree floor.
MBA Work Experience Requirement
The general MBA expects at least three years of relevant managerial or supervisory experience after your Bachelor’s. Applicants without the full three years can be considered under the MBA (International) stream, which weighs academic record and leadership exposure more heavily. There is no written interview, but the admissions team may ask for a short supplementary statement if your experience sits at the borderline.
Insider note: ECU reads "supervisory experience" broadly — team leads, project coordinators, and client-side account managers from Indian IT services firms regularly qualify, even without a formal "manager" title in the HR letter.
Edith Cowan University PhD Admissions
Edith Cowan University admits PhD candidates through the Higher Degree by Research (HDR) route. Candidates apply with a research proposal aligned to a published ECU research strength and a prospective supervisor who agrees to supervise before the formal application is filed.
ECU PhD Entry Requirements
You need a Bachelor’s with First Class Honours (equivalent to an Indian 65 percent plus a research component), or a Master’s by research or coursework with a demonstrated research output. ECU accepts an Indian Master’s with a thesis as satisfying the research-training entry criterion. English requirement is IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0.
ECU HDR Scholarship for Indian Students
The ECU HDR Scholarship covers full tuition, pays an annual stipend of AUD 37,500 (INR 25.35 Lakhs) per annum for 2026-2027, and includes Overseas Student Health Cover and a relocation allowance. The next scholarship round for 2027 commencement typically opens in late 2026, with a shortlisting review by the ECU Graduate Research School.
Key insight: Secure a supervisor’s written in-principle agreement before you submit the HDR application — unsupervised proposals, even strong ones, are routinely held back from the scholarship ranking stage.
Edith Cowan University Application Process
ECU accepts direct online applications from Indian students through the ECU Online portal. The process is linear and does not require an agent, though many Indian applicants still route through an authorised ECU agent for document guidance.
- Shortlist your program on the ECU website and confirm its specific entry requirements.
- Prepare your document set (listed in the next section) and keep scanned PDF copies ready.
- Create an applicant account on the ECU Online application portal.
- Complete the online application form and upload all required documents in one submission.
- Submit the application — ECU charges no application fee on the ECU Online portal for direct international applications.
- Track your application status on the portal and respond to any clarification request from ECU admissions.
- Receive your offer letter, pay the tuition deposit, and request your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
- Use the CoE to lodge your Subclass 500 student visa with Australia’s Department of Home Affairs.
ECU Admission Decisions and Offer Acceptance
Decisions typically land within four to six weeks of a complete application, though Nursing and Education take longer due to clinical placement checks. Offers can be unconditional or conditional, with the common condition being pending IELTS or a final-year transcript. The offer letter carries an acceptance deadline, usually six to eight weeks after issue, and ECU allows a one-semester deferral once if your visa or personal timeline shifts.
- Offer window: four to six weeks from a complete submission
- Acceptance deadline: stated on your offer letter, usually six to eight weeks
- Deposit: paid to activate the Confirmation of Enrolment
- Deferral: one-semester deferral permitted on written request before term start
Edith Cowan University Documents Required
Edith Cowan University asks for a single document set covering identity, prior academic record, English proficiency, and financial capacity. Scan every document in colour, keep file sizes under 5 MB each, and name files clearly before upload.
- Valid passport: at least two years’ validity, bio page scanned in colour
- Class X and Class XII mark sheets: certified true copies with the board’s seal
- Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate: for PG applicants, year-wise mark sheets plus the consolidated transcript
- English test score report: IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Cambridge, dated within two years
- Statement of Purpose: 500 to 800 words covering motivation, program fit, and career plan
- Letters of Recommendation: two LORs, academic for freshers, mixed academic and professional for working applicants
- Updated CV: single-page or two-page résumé with education, roles, and achievements
- Work experience letter: required for MBA applicants, on company letterhead with role and tenure
- Portfolio: required for Design, Media, and WAAPA performing arts programs
- Financial proof: bank statements and ITR covering tuition plus living costs for the Subclass 500 visa
- Passport-size photographs: recent, white background, in JPEG format
Edith Cowan University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
Edith Cowan University’s acceptance rate for international applicants is estimated at 60 to 70 percent, based on moderately selective program-level entry patterns. ECU does not publish an official institutional acceptance figure, so this range reflects aggregator observations and ECU’s open admissions philosophy at the general entry level. The number sits firmly in the mid-selectivity band for Australian universities, well above the Group of Eight sandstones but below full-open-access providers.
What the ECU Acceptance Rate Means for Indian Students
A 60 to 70 percent band tells an Indian applicant that meeting the stated minimums is usually enough for the general-entry programs. ECU admits most applicants whose academic record and English score clear the published floor, with rejections concentrated in cases of missing documents, borderline English, or wrong program fit. You still need to meet every stated criterion, but you do not need to beat the field.
Programs with Competitive Admissions at ECU
Nursing, Education, and WAAPA performing arts sit above the general acceptance band because each has fixed clinical placement, teacher-registration, or audition capacity. The business program catalogue and the Computing suite remain in the broader 60 to 70 percent band, which is why they draw heavy Indian student interest each cycle.
Insider note: Rejections at ECU most often come from an incomplete financial proof or an SOP that reads generic — the academic cut is the easier line to clear. Treat the SOP as an admissions document, not a formality.
Australia Student Visa for Edith Cowan University Applicants
Indian students joining Edith Cowan University apply for the Australia Subclass 500 student visa issued by the Department of Home Affairs. The visa needs a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from ECU, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the full stay, and a demonstrated genuine student intent along with financial capacity. The current visa application charge is AUD 2,000 (INR 1.35 Lakhs), revised upward from AUD 1,600 in July 2025. Financial capacity needs AUD 29,710 (INR 20.08 Lakhs) for 12 months of living costs for the primary applicant, held in a recognised financial institution and demonstrable through bank statements, education loans, or sponsor letters. Processing takes four to eight weeks for Bachelor’s and Master’s course types, longer during peak February and July windows.
2026 update: India moved to the strictest funds-evidence tier in January 2026, which means Indian applicants face stricter financial document checks — avoid last-minute large deposits and keep bank statements consistent for at least three months before lodging.
Tips for Edith Cowan University Admissions
The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Edith Cowan University over recent intakes.
- Target Semester 1 (February) if your program allows: most ECU courses, scholarships, and clinical placement cohorts open in Semester 1.
- Book IELTS at least 10 weeks before the deadline: this leaves room for a one-skill retake or a full re-attempt if your first result lands below the Nursing or Education 7.0 bar.
- Request an MOI letter early: Indian universities take two to four weeks to issue medium of instruction certificates on their letterhead.
- Draft a program-specific SOP: name the ECU school, two or three specific units, and a Perth-based industry anchor you want to engage.
- Lodge the Subclass 500 visa within two weeks of accepting the offer: this clears the four to eight week processing window before orientation.
- Keep a running list of financial document dates: ECU and the visa team both check consistency across bank, loan, and ITR documents.
Edith Cowan University Admissions Checklist
The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete across the admissions cycle.
- Twelve weeks before deadline: request Class X, XII, and Bachelor’s transcripts from your institutions and board.
- Ten weeks before deadline: book IELTS or PTE, keeping a buffer slot for a retake.
- Eight weeks before deadline: finalise SOP, source two LORs, and update your CV with current roles.
- Six weeks before deadline: create your ECU Online account and complete the application form.
- Four weeks before deadline: submit the application with every document uploaded in one shot.
- Within one week of offer: pay the tuition deposit and request the Confirmation of Enrolment.
- Within two weeks of CoE: lodge the Subclass 500 visa with full financial proof and OSHC.
Edith Cowan University stays an open, mid-selective door for Indian students who meet the published academic and IELTS floors, with Semester 1 2027 applications still live and no application fee on direct submissions. Line up documents, SOP, and the Subclass 500 visa window early, since the four to eight week processing time is the slowest moving piece of the whole timeline. See the full course-wise fees breakdown before finalising.

- Every semester there will be new challenges to appear at the same moment it helps to evolve into new version of ourselves.
Dislikes
- The dislike is fees structure they increase in every semester. The parking problem which is not having any space during class start time, and also the class enrollment process. I think this are the problem which I faced during my university time.
Overview
To define overall experience I would say it would be 8 out of 10. Because it was best experience if your in correct path it will reach you to top.
Scholarship
During 2019 we don't have scholarship but, now they started giving scholarship to student around 2000-5000$.

- ECU is recognized for best education provider for cyber security overall in Australia, and I research about the program and thought of going forward with it.
- "There's nothing specific which is unique or special about this place. To an outsider, it would seem the most normal thing ever and yes, it is no doubt. “it's nothing but everything” I won't start mentioning the points that people here, have already talked about ( pros and cons). I guess what I like might be subjective and I don't want any debates about that(Our Campus is way too cute and lovely)."
Dislikes
- I don't hate anything about college per se. There are some human behaviors and personality traits I don't like, but these also occur outside of college. As a student, more than anything else, I wished I had more spending money. I was on an extremely tight budget with no money for dating or entertainment. This had not been true for me in high school because I had a part-time job and could use my parents' car. As a college student, I had more freedom, but in some ways I was unable to take advantage of the freedom.
- As a university student, you may have some professors who are better than others, and some professors may use grading criteria you don't like. Although this is not pleasant, learning to deal with it effectively may help you to prepare for your work life after graduation. We all have to deal with people who have power in organizations and use that power in ways we do not like.
- University is a wonderful educational experience. It's not always pleasant, but even the unpleasant experiences may teach you important lessons. If you keep that in mind, you may benefit more from university than if you focus on what you hate about it.
Overview
It was good experience and I got to learn more things from the university.
Scholarship
I received scholarship during my second semester for passing all my units with high distinction In semester 1 which was like 25% off my university fees.
Overview
The course I chose was fully hands-on and highly regarded in the western Australian region. Moreover, I follow the same content and assessment that on-campus students follow, also, all the professors are minimum MS holders and many of them hold Ph.D also, the university has a very good reputation in the western Australian region.
Scholarship
As an off-shore campus student, I pay only 50% of On-campus students to pay (on-campus it usually cost 15-20 Lakh (INR) to complete 2 years whereas I spent only 12 Lakhs for 2 years.
Overview
I wanted to do my masters degree in Australia as they have high academic standards which I was always impressed by. I did a lot of research and narrowed down my options to UWA and ECU. I applied for both universities and received offer letter from both but I decided to choose ECU as I received 20% off full course fee discount
Scholarship
I am paying for the course with my personal savings
Overview
It had the exact course I wanted to do when I wanted to do marketing. My older brother went here and had a good experience. change into Biomed because I had a change in interests, and stayed at the same uni to make things easier, despite getting into a similar course at a different uni. had a Min atar of 70 which I knew I'd get, so I knew I'd get in.
Scholarship
I applied for the HECS loan and had not paid anything until I start earning over a certain amount (approx 45k).
Overview
I got one year advanced standing for my diploma and this is the only uni that gave me all the 8 units. To apply there was no fee as some other units charged $100. Comparatively low fees as well. I also offered the program I needed. Eg: Electrical Power rather than just Electrical. Furthermore, my cousin's sister studied in this uni.
Overview
There were two teachers there that would supervise my thesis in the topic of my choosing. I also got the marks to get in (as it is quite competitive to get into Honours, I wasn't too picky), and it was online which meant I didn't have to move houses.
Overview
Best reputation for nursing. A great overall student experience. Classrooms and study rooms everywhere. They're so nice. So many People. Lots of events and functions. Cheaper then most and yeah it's okay.
Overview
It was close to home, had the course I wanted to pursue, has a good reputation for student support, has many learning resources available, a good chance of getting a job out of your course, the enrolling process wasn't difficult.
