Understanding the Application Process of AU

Application to the AU can be made through the year round. The applicants are given the opportunity of applying according to their suitable timings and schedules. The general procedures of applying to the Athabasca University are as follows: 

  • Visit the official website of the university.
  • Click the ‘Apply now’ option under the 'Admissions' section 
  • It will be directed to the application page. Select either the undergraduate or the graduate level
  • In the undergraduate application, there are two options, namely:
    • Application for a specific program
    • Application as a non-program student
  • In the graduate level, the candidate has to select the program first
  • Elderly people who are willing to again pursue academic ventures are required to click the ‘Transfer Credit Search’ option on the application page
  • The general application fee is $115 and it is one-time and non-refundable
  • There is no need to pay this fee again, regardless of how many courses the candidate takes or how long he/she wait between courses
  • After completing the application process, the candidate will be issued a student ID number which will be used as his/her User ID for logging into myAU, the university’s student portal
