Confederation College Application Deadlines for Indian Students

Confederation College runs three intakes each year for international applicants: Fall (September), Winter (January), and Spring (May), all routed through the OCAS platform per the ontariocolleges.ca international portal. Programs close on a rolling basis roughly six weeks before class start, so early application matters when seats are limited. Confederation College’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (September), when the widest set of programs opens.

Planning note: Confederation applies a soft six-week pre-intake close, but competitive programs (Aviation, Nursing, Dental Hygiene) often fill months earlier, so aim to submit at least 10 weeks ahead of your target start date.

Confederation College Eligibility and English Requirements

Confederation College sets separate academic floors for its diploma and graduate certificate streams, plus test-based English proficiency thresholds that vary by program family. Indian applicants are assessed against the following institution-wide minimums.

• UG diplomas and certificates: Class XII pass, typically 55 to 65 percent, with any prerequisite Class XII subject the program requires (Math, Physics, Biology).

Confederation College IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Confederation offers an English test exemption under two narrow conditions. Note: The Practical Nursing and Dental Hygiene programs enforce a Speaking sub-band of IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 120 in Speaking, higher than the general 6.0 speaking floor. Sit the test early enough to allow one retake.

Confederation College Graduate Certificate Programs

Confederation’s Graduate Certificates are 1-year PG-level credentials aimed at applicants who already hold a Bachelor’s degree or a three-year Advanced Diploma. They cover specialisations that pair with the college’s 91.1 percent graduate employment rate within six months. Confederation College Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas

Confederation College’s diplomas and advanced diplomas are UG-equivalent post-secondary credentials of 2 to 3 years and form the bulk of Indian-student enrolment. Base tuition for these programs runs from CAD 14,196 to CAD 18,397 (around INR 9.87 to 12.78 Lakhs) per year depending on program. Most diploma-holders also become eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit after completion.

Confederation lists the running availability of each program on its Program Status page, which flags each course as "Open" or "Waitlist". Filed applications on a waitlisted program roll to the next intake automatically if seats do not free up.

Confederation College Application Process

Confederation processes all international applications through the OCAS International Application Service. A single OCAS profile can carry up to five program choices across Ontario colleges. Follow these steps in order.

1. Create your account on the ontariocolleges.ca international portal. The Fall 2027 cycle opens on 26 September 2026; Winter 2027 applications are already live.
2. Pay the OCAS application fee of CAD 150 (around INR 10,422) to release your application to Confederation College.
3. Select Confederation College from the college list and add your program choices (up to five).
4. Upload your academic transcripts, passport bio page, and English proficiency score report.
5. Submit your Statement of Purpose and any program-specific documents (portfolio for Media Arts, medical for Aviation).

• Deferral policy: Confederation allows one-time deferral to the next available intake in most programs, subject to program availability and international office approval.

What the Confederation College Acceptance Rate Really Means for Indian Applicants

The 80 percent figure is an aggregate across all programs. In practice, general business, media, engineering technology, and community-services diplomas admit at a much higher rate than the ceiling. High-demand programs including Aviation Flight Management, Practical Nursing, Dental Hygiene, and select Graduate Certificates run much tighter due to cohort caps and clinical-placement limits.

Canada Student Visa Process for Confederation College Applicants

Indian applicants heading to Confederation College need a Canadian study permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Student Direct Stream (SDS) was discontinued on 8 November 2024, so all Indian applicants now use the standard study-permit route with a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Ontario. Master’s and PhD applicants at public Designated Learning Institutions are PAL-exempt from 1 January 2026, but Confederation’s diploma and graduate certificate applicants still need one.

The core steps are: secure your Letter of Acceptance from Confederation (a Designated Learning Institution), request a PAL through the college, buy a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD 22,895 (around INR 15.91 Lakhs), pay the first-year tuition or deposit, and submit the study-permit application online with proof of funds, medical exam, and biometrics. The study-permit government fee is CAD 150 (around INR 10,422) plus CAD 85 (around INR 5,906) for biometrics. Most Indian applicants see processing times of 7 to 12 weeks after complete filing.

2026 update: IRCC’s national study-permit target is 408,000 permits for 2026. Ontario has one of the tightest allocations, so file your permit within 2 weeks of receiving your Confederation LOA and PAL.
