Desautels Faculty of Management Admission Deadlines

Desautels Faculty of Management has different deadlines for different programs. In case a deadline falls on a weekend/ holiday, the effective deadline will be the next working day. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants are advised to complete the application process early as the seats may get filled-up even before the final application deadline.

Graduate Application Deadlines: The international application deadlines for each Graduate program is different. Students are suggested to complete their applications during the early rounds so that they can apply for a study permit and visa on time to travel to Canada.

Desautels Faculty of Management International Student Admissions

With 50% of students from outside Canada, the Desautels Faculty of Management welcomes international applicants from several countries into its 12 academic programs. International students must complete the admission application in time to be eligible for admissions.

Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee needs to be paid by the student.

Admission Requirements:

  • A completed application
  • Official academic transcripts. Academic documents in languages other than English/ French must be accompanied by a certified English/ French translation.
  • Standardized test scores- ACT/ SAT, TOEFL/ IELTS, GMAT/ GRE score report sent electronically by the testing agencies directly to Desautels. (Institutional Codes: TOEFL/ SAT - 0935-00; ACT – 5231; GMAT - 58 H-MN-22; GRE - 0935)
  • Letters of Reference, CV, Essay (for graduate studies)
  • Please note that the school requests the uploading of unofficial transcripts through the online application system of McGill University for admission review purposes. The official transcripts should be submitted in a sealed envelope via mail, directly from the issuing institution once requested.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

The language of instruction at Desautels Faculty of Management is English. International candidates are required to demonstrate a specific standard of proficiency in the English language for being considered for admission. 

The English language score requirement might differ on a case-to-case basis depending on the country the student is from. There are a number of countries that do not require the student to provide the proficiency scores in English. Visa Process for International Students

International applicants need to apply for a student visa to study in Canada. They can apply for a visa at the nearest Canadian Embassy as soon as they are accepted into their program of choice at Desautels Faculty of Management.

International students who intend to study in Canada at Desautels Faculty of Management need to apply for a study permit and a student visa from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The process of getting a study permit can be completed only after the applicant has received an admission letter from the college. 

The documents required for a study permit include:

  • Acceptance Letter from the college
  • Proof of Funds- bank statements, letters of support, etc. are required as a proof for the availability of finances to cover the tuition fees and the cost of living in Canada that an international student will have to incur.
  • A valid passport
  • Medical Examination 
  • Payment of application fee for the study permit

Once the student receives the study permit, they need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter Canada. This valid visa is issued automatically once the student receives the study permit. 

There are other country-specific requirements for a study permit and a valid visa to enter Canada. Students can contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or the Embassy in their home country for the specific details.

Desautels Faculty of Management offers the highly competitive undergraduate degree program B. Com to eligible candidates.   • Applicants must have qualified high school or senior secondary qualifications. Desautels does not recognize Applied Studies programs or vocational/ technical programs for admission. 
  • Academic Transcripts need to be submitted. Applicants are reviewed on their high school records, particularly yearly averages and scores in prerequisite subjects studied in the last two years of high school. The minimum academic score required is B+ average.
  • English proficiency test score for international applicants

Admission Requirement in some other South-Asian Countries:

India:The minimum overall average of 60% in each academic year, having studied and scored a minimum of 60% in Mathematics or Business Mathematics in Class 11 and 12. Please note that due to the competitive nature of admissions, scoring minimum academic grades do not guarantee admissions.
China:The minimum average score of 85% in each academic year having studies Mathematics Grade 3 level. Applicants should have qualified the Huikao exams.
Hong Kong:Applicants should have studied four core subjects including Mathematics Grade 4 or higher and two/ three elective subjects from either category A or category C. A final grade of 3 or better in each subject is the minimum requirement.
