Trent University Durham GTA Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Indian applicants need a Class 12 pass with a minimum 70% average across the best four academic subjects for undergraduate entry. Graduate certificates and the Master of Management require a recognised bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record.
Trent University Durham GTA Postgraduate Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree with minimum 65% or CGPA 6.5/10 (recommended) across the final year and cumulative
- English: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 93, or PTE Academic equivalent
- Credential verification: World Education Services (WES) evaluation of Indian transcripts recommended
- Master of Management specific: Two years of relevant work experience preferred but not mandatory; no GRE or GMAT required
Trent University Durham GTA Undergraduate Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: Class 12 with minimum 70% average in best four academic courses including English
- English: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 86, Duolingo 115, or CBSE English medium exemption
- Program prerequisites: Nursing and Biomedical Science require Grade 12 Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics
Key insight: CBSE Class 12 students with English as a subject qualify for the English test waiver at Trent Durham. State board and ISC applicants without the waiver should schedule IELTS or TOEFL at least eight weeks before the application deadline.
Trent University Durham GTA Acceptance Rate 2027
Trent Durham operates with an acceptance rate of approximately 70% (estimated). The campus is a moderately selective public institution that reviews international files on academic merit, English proficiency and program-specific prerequisites.
The 70% figure reflects a stable admission pattern across the last three cycles. Decisions are typically issued within four to six weeks of a completed application. Program rigour varies at course level, with Nursing and Biomedical Science admitting more selectively than general BA and BBA tracks.
Reality check: A 70% acceptance rate means Indian applicants meeting the 70% Class 12 threshold and IELTS 6.5 receive offers in most cases. Failure points sit with incomplete transcripts, missing English test evidence and late submissions rather than academic selection.

Trent Durham stands out for its small class size, the highest Maclean’s undergraduate reputation among Ontario peers and direct Greater Toronto Area access. The tradeoff is limited on-campus scale and a narrower postgraduate menu than comprehensive research universities.
Applicants seeking research depth or STEM breadth typically compare Trent Durham against Ontario Tech University and Brock University before finalising their shortlist.
Trent University Durham GTA fits Indian applicants targeting a smaller high-support Ontario campus within reach of Toronto’s employment ecosystem. The total investment sits near ₹40 lakh across an eight-month academic year for a Canadian bachelor’s paired with a Post-Graduation Work Permit valid up to three years.
It is not the fit for applicants seeking large-scale research campuses, headline global rankings or engineering-first pathways. Those applicants will find better mileage at the University of Ottawa.
