Trent University Durham GTA — Oshawa Application Process Step by Step
Trent Durham runs two application routes for Indian applicants. Undergraduate applicants use the OUAC 105 form maintained by the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (the central Ontario clearing house for out-of-province and international UG applications), while graduate certificates and the Master of Management apply direct on Trent’s international portal.
- Undergraduate applicants: create an OUAC 105 account for the 2027 cycle, then list Trent Durham as your program choice with the campus code shown against each degree.
- Graduate applicants: apply direct on the Trent international portal, selecting Durham GTA as the campus.
- Pay the application fee of CAD 90 (INR 6,142) for UG, or CAD 100 (INR 6,824) for graduate research and CAD 125 (INR 8,530) for graduate professional programs like the Master of Management, on the Trent international portal or through OUAC as applicable.
- Upload Class XII or Bachelor’s transcripts, English test scores, and a passport bio page scan.
- Programs requiring a personal statement or interview — Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Management — trigger a follow-up email inside four weeks of submission.
- Track your file inside the MyTrent applicant portal, which issues the conditional offer letter and later the confirmed Letter of Acceptance.
Insider note: Indian applicants on the Trent Durham subreddit consistently flag that graduate certificate offers land inside 3 to 5 weeks when the file is complete on submission, and drift past 8 weeks when transcripts arrive after the application form.
Trent University Durham GTA — Oshawa Admission Decisions Timeline
Trent Durham runs a rolling decision cycle inside each intake window rather than fixed release dates. Conditional offers issue on academic strength; the confirmed Letter of Acceptance follows once English proficiency and final transcripts are on file.
- Conditional offer: issued 3 to 6 weeks after a complete application for UG, 4 to 8 weeks for graduate certificates and the Master of Management.
- Acceptance deadline: applicants have 21 days to accept the offer and pay the tuition deposit, which secures the seat and unlocks the Letter of Acceptance for the Canadian study permit.
- Offer conditions: typical conditions cover final Class XII or Bachelor’s marks, a valid IELTS or TOEFL score, and proof of funds for the study permit.
- Deferral policy: a one-time deferral to the next available intake is permitted before the tuition deposit deadline, subject to program availability at Durham.
Trent University Durham GTA — Oshawa Documents Required
Documents cover identity, academic paperwork, English proof, and finance evidence. Upload legible colour scans as PDF; the Trent portal rejects screenshots and mobile photos of hard-copy documents.
- Passport bio page, valid for at least the full program duration plus six months.
- Class XII mark sheet and passing certificate for UG; Bachelor’s transcripts and consolidated mark sheet plus degree certificate for PG.

Trent University Durham GTA — Oshawa Acceptance Rate
Trent University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. The working figure used across counselling data for the Durham GTA campus is around 70 percent, based on the campus’s access-oriented admissions pattern and its published minimum academic requirements. The figure is an estimate, not an institutional statistic, and it varies by program.
Which Trent Durham Programs Are Hardest to Get Into?
Bachelor of Social Work is the most competitive program on the Durham campus because of the interview requirement and cohort cap. BSc Computer Science and the Master of Management run tighter cycles as the intake nears its cap, and offers for late-file applicants slow noticeably after mid-March for the September start.
Trent Durham vs Peterborough on Selectivity
Durham GTA reads slightly more access-oriented than the Peterborough main campus, which carries a smaller international UG cohort and the full science and humanities catalogue. Applicants aiming at Trent’s headline undergraduate ranking should note that the ranking band for the primarily undergraduate track is set on Peterborough’s cohort profile, and the Durham GTA campus is smaller.
Insider note: Reddit threads for the 2025 and 2026 cycles consistently describe Trent Durham as approachable for Class XII marks in the 70 to 80 range, provided the English floor is cleared and financial documents are ready before the study-permit stage.
Canada Student Visa Process for Trent University Durham GTA — Oshawa Applicants
Indian students admitted to Trent Durham apply for a Canadian Study Permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) via VFS Global centres in India. The permit needs the confirmed Letter of Acceptance from Trent, a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Ontario, proof of funds, and biometrics. For 2026 to 2027, IRCC’s Student Direct Stream (SDS) has been discontinued, and Indian applicants file under the regular study permit stream with the CAD 20,635 minimum living-cost proof plus first-year tuition. Processing time runs 8 to 12 weeks from biometrics submission, so file inside 15 days of receiving the Letter of Acceptance to stay ahead of the intake start.
2026 update: Ontario’s PAL is issued through Trent’s international office after the tuition deposit clears, and IRCC will not accept a study permit application without it — build 5 to 7 additional working days into your visa timeline for the PAL step.
Tips and Application Checklist for Trent University Durham GTA — Oshawa
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Trent Durham across the 2024 to 2026 cycles, tuned to the campus’s rolling decision windows and Ontario’s PAL requirement.
- Book IELTS 12 weeks before the deadline: allows one retake if the PG requirement of no band below 6.0 is missed on the first attempt.
- Request transcripts 8 weeks out: Indian boards and universities routinely take 4 to 6 weeks to issue attested copies.
- File UG on OUAC 105 first, then link Trent: the OUAC record must exist before Trent can process the Durham choice.
- Apply 6 weeks before deadline to lock the entrance award: automatic entrance scholarships from CAD 2,500 (INR 1.71 Lakhs) to CAD 5,500 (INR 3.75 Lakhs) per year are keyed to on-time application.
- Prepare SOP drafts for Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Management: both programs use the SOP as a shortlisting filter, not a formality.
- Pay tuition deposit inside 21 days of the offer: the deposit triggers the confirmed Letter of Acceptance and the Ontario PAL request.
- Book biometrics inside 15 days of the Letter of Acceptance: VFS slot availability in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai tightens sharply from May onward for a September start.
- Justin Chiu International award for Asia: apply by 15 February 2027 for up to CAD 15,000 (INR 10.24 Lakhs) per year, a decisive add-on for Indian applicants.
Trent Durham reads as a viable Canada option for Indian students who clear Class XII at 70 percent plus IELTS 6.5, with a rolling decision cycle and access-oriented profile. The Fall 2027 primary intake closes on 15 June 2027 for undergraduates and 1 February 2027 for graduates — file early to lock automatic entrance awards. Track Ontario’s PAL step alongside the study permit timeline. See Trent University Durham GTA — Oshawa for the wider campus overview.

Dislikes
- Just like any other university, Trent University isn’t good for all courses (well if one university had everything, we all would only want to go there), there has to be some drawbacks.
- Trent is majorly known for its Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Chemical Sciences, and Nursing programs, placements and internship opportunities are highly inclined towards these, and for students in other programs its relatively difficult to find so, being in a smaller city.
Dislikes
- I found very narrow opportunities of networking and growth.
- I would highly reckon Peterborough Campus for future students
