Royal Roads University Acceptance Rate 2027
Royal Roads University does not publish an official global acceptance rate. Third-party admissions trackers estimate the rate at 66% (estimated) for combined domestic and international applicants across programmes. The MBA Executive Management runs a more selective review because of the 7-year work experience threshold.
Selective screening focuses on academic average, statement of intent and work experience alignment for postgraduate applicants. Indian applicants meeting the 65% academic minimum with clean English scores generally see positive outcomes within 4 to 6 weeks.
Reality check: The 66% rate reflects applicants who meet minimum thresholds; Indian applicants below 60% or without the English scores should target the pre-programme pathways rather than direct entry.

Royal Roads University suits Indian applicants who want a Canadian graduate credential without pausing full-time work in India or Canada, with a total investment near INR 40 to 55 lakh set against a median master’s salary near INR 45 to 60 lakh in year one. The Post-Graduation Work Permit pathway keeps study in Canada viable for permanent residence in three to four years.
RRU is not the right fit for Indian applicants seeking a large research campus, engineering degrees or a bench-lab science PhD; those students should target universities in Canada such as Simon Fraser or the University of Victoria instead.
Royal Roads University FAQs
Ques. What is the application fee at Royal Roads University for Indian applicants?
Ans. Royal Roads University charges an application fee of CAD 131 (INR 9,004) for all international applicants, including Indian nationals. The fee is paid online through the RRU applicant portal at submission and is non-refundable regardless of the admission decision. Indian applicants pay by international credit card or through supported Indian card networks; scholarship review begins only after the application fee clears.
Ques. Can Indian students complete RRU programmes fully online from India?
Ans. Most Royal Roads University graduate programmes need at least one on-campus residency block of 2 to 3 weeks in Victoria. Indian students can complete the rest of the programme online from India between residencies. Fully online options exist for some graduate certificates and diplomas; the RRU admissions team confirms residency requirements per programme before enrolment.
Ques. Does RRU accept GRE or GMAT scores for its MBA programme?
Ans. The MBA in Executive Management at RRU does not require GRE or GMAT scores. The programme weights 7 years of full-time work experience, including 3 years in a management role, over standardised test scores. Indian applicants without GRE or GMAT can still qualify if they meet the work experience and bachelor’s degree requirements. Submitting GRE or GMAT does not add value to the review file.
Ques. How does WES credential verification work at Royal Roads University?
Ans. Royal Roads University asks Indian applicants to submit a World Education Services ICAP course-by-course evaluation for their bachelor’s and Class 12 transcripts. Indian applicants order the WES report directly from wes.org and route it to RRU. Turnaround takes 6 to 8 weeks once WES receives sealed transcripts from the Indian institution. RRU cannot issue a final admission decision until the WES report arrives.
Ques. What work experience is required for RRU graduate programmes?
Ans. Work experience needs vary by RRU programme. The MBA Executive Management asks for 7 years of full-time experience including 3 years in a management role. The MA Leadership needs 3 years of relevant experience. Most other graduate programmes accept applicants directly after a bachelor’s degree, though relevant work exposure strengthens the statement of intent. Indian applicants should list roles with tenure and reporting scope in the CV.
Ques. Are Indian education loans available for Royal Roads University degrees?
Ans. Royal Roads University is a designated learning institution in British Columbia, so Indian public sector banks like SBI, Bank of Baroda and Canara Bank fund RRU degrees under standard education loan schemes. Private lenders including HDFC Credila, Avanse and Auxilo also cover RRU programmes. Loan sizes typically reach INR 40 to 60 lakh with a co-applicant and collateral; unsecured loans up to INR 20 lakh are common.
Ques. What English test waivers does RRU offer to Indian applicants?
Ans. Royal Roads University waives IELTS or TOEFL for Indian applicants whose most recent degree was completed fully in English at a recognised institution. Applicants request the waiver by submitting a medium of instruction letter from the university on official letterhead. The waiver decision rests with the RRU admissions team; some MBA and MA Leadership applicants still need to submit a test score if the review team requests confirmation.
Ques. Can Indian students bring dependants on a Royal Roads University study permit?
Ans. Indian students at Royal Roads University can bring a spouse and dependent children on the study permit application. The spouse becomes eligible for an open spousal work permit once the main study permit is approved, which lets the spouse take any Canadian job. Financial proof of an additional CAD 4,000 for a spouse and CAD 3,000 per child is required at the visa stage.

- Because of the course arrangement, I was doing my regular BMS( Bachelors in Management Studies) when I came across this opportunity in year 2, they gave an option to have transfer courses so I took it, then my degree got transferred form BMS to BBA and I completed my 3rd and 4th year in Canada.
- So, Royal Roads gave me quite a bit of experience. It was definitely a bumpy ride because Victoria is a small town, but of course, the prettiest one. My initial few days were not so well. I was getting adjusted and our campus is extremely beautiful but very spread out and huge. This made things pretty confusing. But if you like peacocks, ducks, and a big lake with an amazing castle view, then you are at the right place.
- Now, enough of the environment. Let's get real and talk about the courses... Well, they are debatable. Remember, this is just my side of the story though. After graduating, I was jobless for a long time. At first, I thought I was the problem, then I blamed the course/my degree, and finally, I realized that according to my aims/goals, I am in the wrong location. I have to be around industries where there may be competition but at the same time growth opportunities. After shifting to the city (Toronto), I realized the competition is way too high. So, I had to take some extra certifications and finally landed a good job.
Dislikes
- Probably the lack of industries can be quite a challenging part, but my suggestion would be to start early, as in a year before graduation, make sure to apply for internships in firms, do some volunteer work, and apply your education to something practical. This way, you will understand what you are studying and eventually choose a field that is best for you and society.
Overview
It was a bittersweet experience due to the strict rules and high level of rigor compared to other universities. Despite pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the courses often felt more akin to an MBA program. The university emphasized pragmatism and enforced strict adherence to it. However, aside from these challenging moments, everything else about the experience was sweet. The knowledge gained, the outcomes achieved, the supportive community, the people of Victoria, the campus environment – all contributed to a memorable and enriching journey.
Campus Life
Great we celebrate Holi, Diwali and every other festive. Do check out the university page on Instagram.

- The program is very future oriented and focuses on the demands of tomorrow. It is made to prepare you ahead of time.
- Very open minded approach to a bachelors degree. Hands on experience, no exams rather a client-oriented report. Quite demanding but a worthy experience. Plenty of volunteer experience available if you are proactive.
- The gym facility is top of line everything you need is there. The food is so-so. Could do better but still a good option nonetheless. There’s places where you connect with nature. A lagoon in-house. Beautiful sunsets and lots of culture. It is built on the lands of Xyspuem and Lekwagaon lands. (Sorry if I butchered the spelling) much love! It is an experience that’s what I can say.
Dislikes
- The location is a bit odd and far. Away from city but very pretty as well. Blessing and a curse.
Overview
It is quite an experience, you have to be prepared at all times. It tries you mentally and physically. There is an excitement. You need to feel it to understand I think.
Campus Life
Campus life is bless. They have everything it’s in walking distance. The whole campus has wifi. Excluding the parking lot. Library is big and cute.

- It was a credit transfer program for us through Vidyalankar University in Mumbai where we did 2 years and then rest 2 were done from RRU
- The location and the campus has many resources for students. There are only few courses that actually help you gain knowledge and will help in your career. Few instructors are really knowledgable and fun to interact with.
Dislikes
- This university is a B grade university whom no one in Victoria knows let alone Canada. The program heads are usually very strict and personally I felt are racist. My whole batch had 16 Indians 7 Chinese and 12 Canadians surprisingly onlt the canadians used to score 90 or above and rest all scored below 85 and this went on for 2 years. There was no action taken when we wrote to the instructors. Apart from the MGM program no program is recognized or have any value. Please choose UVIC or Camosen college if coming to Victoria.
Overview
The college just helped me enter Canada and also enjoyed the city Victoria which is very beautiful apart from that everything is poor.
Campus Life
The infrastructure is amazing and facilities like library, gym and wifi all were provided. The university has the famous Hatley castle and also has its own lahoon where it is the best place to chill.
Overview
The program was interdisciplinary and applied. In addition, it was designed for working professionals and delivered distanced (for the full program or majority of it) so students could work and didn't have to stay in Victoria throughout their study period.
Fees
It's been a few years since I graduated but I believe my domestic graduate level tuition rates were about 10'000 - 11'000 per year.
Overview
Gave me an opportunity to use my previous work experience as a qualifying factor as I had a huge gap in education.
Fees
Program fee of $32,000 CAD approx.
Overview
Affiliation with the government provided the basis for genuineness and good reputation. The affordability along with the unique programs and preferred courses helped me make up my mind for this university.
Fees
The fee is CAD 32,000 - CAD 36,000 depending on the course selection.
Overview
1. I was accepted for a master's program at a University without GMAT. 2. The length of my program was just 18 months. 3. I was eligible for direct admission and I wasn't required to take any pre-masters course. 4. After completion of this course, students receive 3 year of Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). 5. The university is situated in one of the most beautiful places in the country.
Fees
The total fees of my course is $32500 approx.
