They will guide you with everything and you will get to work with live projects. It is Ranked 33 rd  in the NIRF Ranking.  The total fee is INR 10.19 Lakhs . In 2023, 93% of the total batch was placed. In 2023, the average salary was INR 24.58 LPA  and the median salary was INR 21 LPA  from this department. Ans. Out of all the three mentioned colleges, I would say that IIT Mandi is the best choice. The institute is one of the eight new IITs and has established a good reputation. The faculty is knowledgeable and experienced. It is Ranked 33 rd  in the NIRF Ranking.  The department of EE is great and offers the students multiple opportunities. The total fee is INR 10.19 Lakhs . In 2023, 93% of the total batch was placed. The average package was INR 24.58 LPA  and the median package was INR 21 LPA . However, you can also look at the statistics to get thorough knowledge about this institute. The CSE department of IIT Mandi is well-equipped with great facilities and experienced professors. It is Ranked 33 rd  in the NIRF Ranking. The institute also gives opportunities to the students to grow their skills. In 2023, the placement record was great as  98% of the batch was placed. Ques. How is IIT Mandi for pursuing an MS in VLSI for an ECE student, and what are the placement options after completing the same?

Ans. As mentioned in the answers before me, IIT Mandi is not a good choice for Masters’. It is located in a remote area with low connectivity. This makes it difficult to reach, and consequently, affects its placements to a great extent. Other than location, the college lacks a strong alumni network. B.Tech students from new IITs either opt for an MBA, or choose to pursue their M.Tech from an old IIT. IIT Mandi as of now, does not have a very strong reputation in the industry. An 8-12 LPA CTC is not up to the IIT standards, but this is usually the package range offered to B.Techs from IIT Mandi. If B.Techs are struggling to get placed, the situation would obviously be tougher for postgrads.  Choose M.Tech VLSI from IIT Mandi only if you do not have a better option.Read more

Ans. The college life at IIT Mandi is very poor because of the remote location. You will not be able to experience urban college life. The branches are not at par with the Mechanical and Electrical branches of IIT Indore and Jodhpur.  CS at IIT Mandi is decent though. Despite being new, IIT-Mandi has recorded an increase in placement over the past five years. IIT Mandi CSE average salary increased from 14.79 LPA in 2018 to 33.68 LPA in 2022.  IIT Mandi CSE placements statistics have been tabulated below  Total Number of Students 86 Eligible Students 84 Number of Students Placed 83 Number of Placement Offers 103 Amazon, Microsoft, Codenation, DE Shaw, Adobe, SalesForce etc are few recruiters that offered decent packages.Read more

Here are some key differences between the CSE and Computer and Communication Engineering courses at the Manipal Institute of Technology.  CCE comes under the I&CT department so it comprises concepts related to networking and communication along with a few modules of CSE while CSE deals with an algorithmic approach to solving problems and software engineering. CCE is a new branch and its placement scenario is unknown although it has become the 4th most popular branch. CSE is the most preferred branch of MIT Manipal and therefore also has the best placements. CCE has a lot of courses like Cloud Computing, Big Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision. Ans. IT giants like Google and Facebook do not visit MIT Manipal for campus placements however that does not mean that students of this college dont make it to these IT giants. We have examples of a few alumni who are now working in these companies.  Let me tell you an interesting fact. Companies like Google and Facebook dont recruit on the basis of your college credibility or grades. They have a fixed mark set up for their employees, and everyone who qualifies for this mark gets hired. So the college from which you completed your graduation has nothing to do with your chances of getting employed by IT giants like Google and Amazon. All you need is a good knowledge of data structures and algorithms and a passion for computer science. MIT Manipal is a well-reputed college amongst IT companies in general so you shouldn't worry about job opportunities in the IT sector at least. You can apply to these IT giants through portals like Google Careers, etc., and also participate in competitions like Google Code Jam, Facebook Hacker Cup, ICPC, etc, You can also contribute to various open source projects through GSOC, etc.  So it's safe to conclude that there is no dearth of opportunities at MIT Manipal and you are likely to end up in companies like Google and Facebook by applying off campus.Read more

Ques. How good is the B.Tech information technology course at the Manipal Institute of Technology?

Ans. MIT Manipal BTech Information Technology is decently structured covering concepts related to software, hardware, and networking as well. Although the degree offered is that B.E in IT, the department is called Information and Communication Technology so students have to also study communication courses straight from students of the ECE branch. I will advise you to take up this course only if you are interested in computers and related stuff because the concepts taught are tough and unless you have an interest in the field you won’t be able to cope with the rigorous curriculum. Here are some additional points you would like to know about the branch Every semester has 5 subjects and 3 labs. The labs carry two credits, unlike other branches where they have 2 labs of 1 credit. So practicals are given a lot of importance.  A good variety of electives are offered making the curriculum flexible.  You will have to learn to code if you opt for this branch.  The IT branch has 5 subjects only so they can go home earlier than other students and the end-semesters get over two days earlier.  There are evaluations every fortnight in the labs, lab sessionals, and quizzes for internals for theory subjects and labs as well which other branches don't.  The placement scenario is great because of the immense demand of this branch. Overall, this branch will fetch you enough opportunities if you are genuinely passionate about it.Read more

Ans. The Instrumentation and Control Engineering branch at MIT Manipal is a multifaceted branch dealing with various subjects related to Electrical, Electronics, and mechanical. Students are taught about sensors, transducers, electrical and mechanical instruments, microcontrollers, control systems, process automation, etc. The branch is good and its labs are equipped with modern instruments. The faculty is decent and the placement scenario seems very promising. One of my friends recently completed his BTech in instrumentation and control and gave me an active idea of the placement scenario of the branch. Out of the entire batch around 95% of students got placed. The highest package stood at INR 20 LPA and the average stood at INR 10 LPA while the lowest was recorded at INR 5 LPA. The star recruiters included Mercedes, Flipkart, Amazon, and Nvidia among many others. Overall, this branch is great if you are interested in this field.Read more
