Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences (IHBAS) is an autonomous body which was registered under the Societies Act 1860 and funded jointly by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Government of NCT of Delhi. The college was founded in compliance with the directives of the Hon' ble Supreme Court in response to a public interest litigation in 1993. As it is working as an autonomous body so it has its own Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations which is approved under the Societies Act, Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Government of NCT of Delhi.

The aim of the college is to provide high quality, super specialty care to the students by using the state of the art technology in neurology, psychiatry and behavioural sciences. The courses which are offered by the college are Diplomate National Board, Doctorate of Medicine in Psychiatry and Neurology and Master of Philosophy in the field of Clinical Psychology. The college also provides specialty clinics like Mental Retardation, Tobacco Cessation, Neurobehaviour Drug Abuse Treatment etc.
