Kanpur Institute of Technology was established in 2004 and is affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. All the courses offered by the institute are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). KIT Kanpur offers B.Tech, B.Pharma, MBA, MCA and M. Kanpur Institute of Technology offers B.Tech in 5 specializations and B.Pharma courses at the UG level. Lateral Entry in both courses is also offered by the institute.
The minimum eligibility requirement for B. Tech and B.Pharma is 10+2 in Science stream with at least 50% aggregate marks.
For Lateral Entry admission, Diploma or B.Sc in Mathematics with 60% marks is required to be eligible. For Lateral Entry in B.Pharma, Diploma in Pharmacy with 60% marks is required to be eligible.
Selection in B.Tech is based on the valid score in UPSEE/JEE Main. B.Pharma admission is based on the valid score in UPSEE.

M. Tech is offered by KIT Kanpur in 3 specializations. The minimum qualification to apply for this course is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least 60% (55% for SC/ST category) aggregate marks.
Admission is done on the basis of UPTU admission norms. Selection of the candidates is based on the valid score of UPSEE. GATE qualified candidates are also given preference during admission.

Note: GATE qualified candidates are eligible for direct admission and will be preferred over Non-GATE candidates. Counselling for admission will be done for GATE qualified candidates before Non-qualified candidates.
The institute also offers MBA and MCA at the PG level. MCA is offered in Lateral Entry as well. The minimum eligibility requirement is a graduate degree with at least 50% aggregate marks. However, for MCA, Mathematics is required as a compulsory subject. Candidates are selected based on the merit in the qualifying examination and UPSEE.

It is a merit-based scholarship for candidates who are admitted as full-time regular students in the institute. The selection of candidates for this scholarship is based on the merit in the first year and past performance in Xth and XIIth Standards. The UPSEE rank and financial background of the family also become the deciding factor for final selection of the candidates for this scholarship.
The above scholarships are provided to students belonging to the SC/ST/OBC/general/minority category whose family income is less than 2 lacs.
