AIMS Institutes MBA FAQs

Ques. How does the SWOC presentation work in the AIMS MBA admission process?

Ans. After clearing the AI-based behavioural interview, shortlisted candidates are required to prepare a SWOC (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Challenges) analysis related to their career goals and MBA specialisation target. A panel of faculty and industry members evaluates this. The SWOC tests self-awareness, structured thinking, and communication. Preparation should be specific to your professional background and the specialisation you intend to pursue at AIMS.

Ques. Is a CAT score mandatory for AIMS MBA admission or can I apply with CMAT or KMAT?

Ans. CAT is not mandatory. AIMS accepts CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA, KMAT Karnataka, and Karnataka PGCET scores. The CAT cutoff is 65 percentile for general category, and CMAT has a cutoff of 80. With a KMAT Karnataka or PGCET score, you can apply directly. All shortlisted candidates go through the same AI-based interview, SWOC presentation, and final panel interview regardless of which exam score they submit.

Ques. What dual specialisation combinations are most practical at AIMS?

Ans. AIMS allows a second specialisation in the second year. Common combinations include Finance and Business Analytics (useful for fintech and investment banking roles), Marketing and Startups and SMEs Management (for entrepreneurial careers), and HRM paired with Finance or Marketing for broader corporate HR roles. Healthcare Management combined with Marketing is also relevant given the strong BFSI and healthcare recruiter base at AIMS. Choose the combination based on target industry rather than just subject interest.

Ques. How does AIMS MBA compare with XIME Bangalore for a student with a 70 percentile CAT score?

Ans. With 70 percentile in CAT, you would clear AIMS (cutoff 65) but fall short of XIME (cutoff 75). This makes AIMS the more accessible option at that score. XIME’s average package is INR 11.2 LPA versus AIMS at INR 8 LPA. However, AIMS offers 8 specialisation choices and the IACBE international accreditation. If your target is BFSI or Bangalore-based roles, AIMS is a practical and well-networked option at that percentile range.

Ques. What are the hostel and living costs for MBA students at AIMS Institutes Bangalore?

Ans. AIMS Institutes has separate hostels for male and female students. Boys hostel fees range from INR 1,48,600 to INR 1,61,200 per year and girls hostel fees range from INR 1,42,300 to INR 1,54,900 per year, typically covering accommodation and meals. MBA students can also explore private PGs near Peenya at lower cost. Total living cost (hostel plus incidentals) should be budgeted at INR 1.5 to 1.7 Lakhs per year based on available hostel options.
