ISB Hyderabad Ranking FAQs

Ques. What is ISB Hyderabad rank in the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2026?

Ans. ISB Hyderabad ranked 12th out of 100 programmes in the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2026. This is the best rank ever achieved by an Indian institution on this list. It represents an improvement from 27th in 2025 and 31st in 2024. The ranking evaluates ISB one-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP).

Ques. Why does ISB Hyderabad not have a NIRF ranking?

Ans. ISB Hyderabad does not participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) because it is a not-for-profit autonomous institution, not a university or deemed university. NIRF participation requires institutions to submit data through a defined framework open to universities, deemed universities, and their constituent colleges. ISB has not submitted data to NIRF and therefore does not appear in any NIRF category.

Ques. How does ISB Hyderabad compare to IIMs in national rankings?

Ans. In the Collegedunia MBA Rankings 2026, ISB Hyderabad holds 4th rank out of 350 colleges. Because ISB does not participate in NIRF, cross-framework comparisons require looking at individual ranking bodies separately. Ques. What is ISB Hyderabad rank in the India Today Executive MBA Rankings?

Ans. ISB Hyderabad ranked 3rd in the India Today Executive MBA Rankings 2026, out of 15 institutions on that list. In 2025, ISB held 1st rank in the same India Today Executive MBA category. The India Today rankings are conducted in association with MDRA and cover a separate executive management programme category distinct from general MBA rankings.

Ques. Does ISB Hyderabad appear in the QS Global MBA Rankings?

Ans. Yes, ISB Hyderabad ranked 86th in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2025 out of 251 programmes worldwide. In 2024, ISB ranked 78th out of a larger pool of 315 programmes. QS evaluates MBA programmes on employability, entrepreneurship, thought leadership, and return on investment parameters. ISB operates two campuses, the main campus in Hyderabad and a second campus in Mohali, and the ranking covers the institution as a whole.

Why has IBS Hyderabad lost its rank?

Himanshu Gajendra
Arshit JainMBA in Marketing, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2018)

You may have heard differing opinions on the current status of IBS Hyderabad. While it is true that there have been some changes that have led to a decline in the quality of education and the reputation of the campus, there are several specific factors that have contributed to this decline.

One factor is the increasing batch size. The college has been adding at least 50 to 100 students each year, which has resulted in a larger student body. However, this increase in batch size has also meant a decrease in the quality of the students being admitted to the main campus.

Another issue is the lack of dedication from some of the professors. Despite having degrees from prestigious universities, some professors are not fully committed to teaching and providing quality education to their students.

The administration's approach to filling the larger batch size has led to the admission of mediocre students who are not serious about their education and cause disruptions in the classroom and in the hostels. This creates a negative environment that can affect the learning experience of all students.

The administration has also failed to enforce rules and regulations, allowing students to engage in harmful activities like smoking, drinking, and damaging hostel properties. These actions have led to a decline in the reputation of the campus and have negatively impacted the placements of students. Companies have noticed the lack of skills and poor behavior of some students during the recruitment process, which has led them to question the quality of education being provided at IBS Hyderabad.

To restore its former glory, the administration needs to prioritize improving the quality of education and ensuring that rules and regulations are followed by all students. Additionally, offering mental conditioning classes for students can help them develop a more professional demeanor, both in the classroom and during the recruitment process, ensuring that the campus continues to attract top companies for placements.

Why is ISB Hyderabad so covert in Indian rankings despite having a fair global ranking?

Madhura MukhopadhyayMBA from Indian School of Business (Graduated 2018)

The Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad is an internationally recognized business school that holds accreditation from AACSB and EQUIS, which are both prestigious international accreditation boards. However, ISB is not accredited by AICTE, which is the accreditation board for technical education in India.

This is because ISB Hyderabad offers a unique one-year MBA program called the Post Graduate Program (PGP), which is designed for professionals with an average of 4.7 years of work experience. This program is not approved by AICTE, as it is not comparable to the traditional two-year MBA programs that are typically designed for freshers or individuals with less work experience.

ISB Hyderabad is also a globally oriented school, with a diverse faculty from top institutions such as Wharton and Kellogg, and a curriculum that is designed to reflect the standards of top US business schools. The PGP program does not compete with the two-year MBA programs offered by other Indian business schools and is therefore not featured in Indian rankings.
