ISB Hyderabad AMP FAQs

Ques. How does the blended learning format of ISB AMPs work and how many days must participants be on campus?

Ans. ISB AMPs use a modular structure with four campus residency blocks per year, totalling around 36 days on campus annually. All other sessions run as live synchronous online classes. This lets working professionals attend virtually from any location between residencies. Campus sessions are held at ISB Hyderabad and participants arrange their own travel. The design means professionals can maintain full-time employment throughout the programme without extended leave.

Ques. Can I apply to an ISB AMP if I do not have an Engineering or technical degree?

Ans. Yes, for four of the five AMPs. AMPI, AMPH, AMPOS, and AMPPP accept graduates from any discipline. Only AMPBA requires a quantitative academic background because the programme involves applied data work and analytics programming where prior comfort with mathematics is essential. For the other four AMPs, domain-specific professional experience matters more than your undergraduate major. Professionals from commerce, arts, social sciences, and management backgrounds regularly participate in these four programmes.

Ques. What is the difference between ISB AMPs and the ISB PGP for career planning?

Ans. The PGP is a full-time, one-year residential MBA aimed at professionals looking to change careers or accelerate into leadership. AMPs are part-time, domain-specific programmes for those already in mid-to-senior roles who want expertise within one sector. AMPs do not award a master’s degree, while PGP does. If your goal is a career pivot, PGP is the right path. If your goal is domain mastery without leaving your current role, an AMP is more appropriate.

Ques. Is a GMAT or GRE score required to apply to ISB AMPs?

Ans. No minimum GMAT or GRE score is required for ISB AMP admission. Most AMPs use an internal online admissions assessment. For AMPBA, candidates holding a recent GMAT, GRE, CAT, or NMAT score may request an exemption from the ISB online test, but submitting such a score is not mandatory. The admissions committee evaluates applicants holistically, placing significant weight on professional experience and domain trajectory alongside the test score.

Ques. How does employer sponsorship typically work for ISB AMP candidates?

Ans. Many ISB AMP participants secure full or partial sponsorship from their employers, particularly in large organisations in infrastructure, healthcare, and financial services where executive development budgets are standard. ISB does not negotiate directly with employers, so the sponsorship request must be made through the candidate’s own HR or management. ISB can provide a formal programme brochure, admission letter, and fee structure for the employer’s approval process. Sponsorship letters from employers, if available, are also considered favourably during admission evaluation.
